The welcome was excellent, the service first class, food delicious, calm location, but for me with reduced mobility not easy, our booking was done through outspot, so we were unable to choose a room suitable for me, with a shower separate from the bath, so I was unable to shower for our three days there, also the stairs to our room were not too easy, still apart from that we really enjoyed our stay, we also received a complimentary drink. The hotel is a short walk to the beach. Everybody in the hotel from the cleaning lady to the owners were extremely helpful.
hotel is a bit kitchy, they wanted to generate old style villa feeling but finishing doesn't match image created/price. surroundings not finished and bit of a mess. Restaurant expensive for food and wine, far better restaurants can be found at the coast
Via outlook we booked a 3 Day arrangement in villa aultia The staff is very helpfull and the restaurant very nice decorated. Diner is very good and worth star quality nice fish and seafood is derved at als faire price
We loved this very special place. Only stayed for one night which sadly was a Monday and Ault is pretty much closed on a Monday!! No Joke. The owner recommended a local restaurant that was open so we booked which was a blessing as there wasn't anywhere else. Aunt is a pretty sleepy place. Our room was fabulous, huge bed, huge bathroom with a leaky shower but who cares. The owners are so charming and really helpful with great stories and advice. The breakfast was excellent with a fresh bottle of champagne chilling...why not indeed.
Booked this as our end of holiday treat enroute to the tunnel. This hotel is a pastiche throw back to La Belle Époque, our dinner companion a ten foot chinoiserie vase ,while busts of Victor Hugo looked on.The hotel is big on chandeliers and crystal that reflects the two 'brothers' own personal taste .Both food and service slightly miss the mark, the silver dessert spoon was the size of a small shovel, the garnish on the duck forestiere rehydrated mushroom, and the bread rolls were so crusty you could build a house with them. Our room was very clean and the mattress good but again overwhelmingly decorated in duck egg blue and Louis XlV furniture with piped opera in the corridors .A lot would be forgiven if there was a warm welcomebut the experience wholly misses the mark mainly due to the passive aggressive behaviour of our hosts who openly told us they don't like the English when the found out we were Welsh.Contemporary hoteliers can't afford to be partisan even if you prefer to live in a bygone age.
Excellent hotel with an excellent service. The restaurant is really fancy with porcelain service and silver cutlery. The personal is really welcoming and warm. I can only recommend. Also I almost forgot you can have a Jacuzzi +++
Fantastic dinner and stay in this quaint boutique hotel . Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and above all they make you feel extremely welcome and relaxed . A great find in a little seaside town with lovely cliffs .
We travelled from La Rochelle to Ault, having checked out reviews and recommendations for the Villa Aultia. The booking was via TripAdvisor which in itself was challenging as they use a variety of third party providers to place the booking. We could not identify if they had used Expedia or another service provider. Anyway following endless emails we finally confirmed the booking which was NON REFUNDABLE. Imagine our surprise following a 6 hour drive to find the hotel in darkness and locked up. So our review is that the owners are shameless, having taken a booking and the cash and then locked up. I would recommend that such people deserve no support from the likes of TripAdvisor going forward and we would suggest people steer wide of this establishment.
This is a very individual, beautifully designed hotel offering very comfortable rooms and an excellent breakfast. The welcome from the owners was very warm. The room was very clean, the bathroom well finished and wifi was included.
By which I mean that this is actually a nice hotel with a very friendly personalized service with comfortable rooms in a very cozy small town close to the beach. But for us personally (and this is just a personalized opinion): to much is to much: - When you put to much decoration into one room, the room gets crowed and to our opinion looses its comfort and its cozy feeling - When you put to much food (but very good quality) onto one plate (nobody will leave hungry), to our opinion the food looses its good taste. So, conclusion, good hotel (rather expensive indeed) but just not our taste
