The hotel is what you would expect of this chain: tiny, bad wifi, uncomfortable and awful breakfast. What it makes it unique is its bad service. I had stayed and when I tried to return a few days after with a reservation, they did not wanted to honor my reservation, because lack of company ID (I HAD JUST STAYED THERE!!!) Is not just that, I understand policy, but they were rude and I was extremely tired so I did not argue. I realized later that the hotel is expensive for what it offers. I ended up staying at the Best Western, same price and a great service, and the rooms are quite cozy.
Reception was very friendly and internet worked well. Housekeeping is very good with clean rooms. Biggest issue is with breakfast, on this and my previous stay always run out of cooked eggs and milk. Someone needs to provide the attendant instructions to replace these items before they are all used up.
I was visiting family in Tula de Allende, I decided to stay at this hotel because of the brand and because it was new. Room was clean, bathroom was in brand-new conditions. Breakfast is below average, you can get bored of it very quickly. It is literaly in the outskirts of the city, so there is nothing close at night for dinner. The good thing is the OXXO (convenience store) just outside of the hotel.
The hotel seems to be a favorite of the refinery workers. The refinery emits a roaring noise quite often. The smell of petroleum products is in the air. It is also located near the business park. There is a restaurant, coffee shop, and convenience store within walking distance. The hotel appears clean. The rooms are small. The wifi is complimentary, however you must log back on every time you turn your device on. The conversion rate to buy pesos is very poor. The breakfast is free, but the menu is limited and the food which should be hot is cohutld and the food thatt should be cold is warm.
We stayed in the hotel for a nearby wedding and got exactely what we expected from a cheap business hotel like City Express: Clean, confortable bed, modern and small room, free breakfast (surprisingly good) and internet. Every extra like sewing kit is charged. Tula has few to offer beside wonderfull "gigantes", but if we go back, it will be in the same hotel.
Stayed here recently as part of a large group, was pleased with the cleanliness, the free wi-fi, ready availability of hot water. Facility seemed relatively new. Linens and towels were in good condition, extra blankets were available from the front desk. Double room had a shower with good water pressure (no tub), free bottled water daily, TV with multiple channel offerings, good lighting. Breakfast area off the lobby had a good offering of hot and cold food options, including fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, sprouts, toast, a great coffee/espresso machine - and two hot food alternatives that changed daily (not available on the week-end). There's a rotisserie chicken restaurant on the street at the end of the driveway to the hotel - very clean, great food at reasonable prices and menus were available in the room if you wanted food delivered to your room. There is a gym on site, though it only had three pieces of fitness equipment. You are within walking distance of the Pemex plant, if that's of interest. The downsides? The only thing you are near is the Pemex plant, so in order to get downtown and to sites such as the ruins, it's really a cab ride to get there. If there's a party happening at the Pemex plant or on the grassy area behind the hotel, you will hear the music and noise very clearly if your room faces the rear. (One of the few times when the rooms facing the street are quieter!) There are no safes in the rooms, no irons/ironing boards, and a limited number of hair dryers available at the desk. Desk staff are primarily Spanish-speaking -- English was very, very, very limited. Worst of all is the Tula air quality. Expect your eyes to be red and expect your nose to run throughout your stay. Add the altitude and it can be a real killer! Still a better hotel than the Hotel Sharon, which is located closer to downtown but adjacent to the stinkiest river in the history of the universe!
