I have given the overall rating as excellent largely due to the helpfulness of Leonie at reception. We had arrived late to discover that i had booked the wrong date but Leonie sorted everything. Staff in the bar were very friendly and attentive also
Really nice hotel, honestly wasn’t expecting what we were given , room was absolutely fabulous, staff was friendly, bar had a great band , will definitely be back very soon , and close to everything that you may need
Had a lovely few days at The Prince of Wales Hotel Athlone Staff very friendly and helpful Great food The barman on duty Eamonn is a credit to the hotel ran the whole bar himself We visit the hotel regularly and will certainly be back soon
Visited The Price of Wales Hotel for a late dinner with my daughter last night. Service was exceptional and friendly. Food was top quality with a great variety of options in the menu. The waiter was great at explaining different options. Highly recommend
First time in the bar for the music in the evening, it was busy but we had a nice comfortable couch were we could see the singer, only problem he was right beside the door to the toilets which must have been distracting for him but he handled it well. The drinkers in Athlone must have very weak bladders as it was non stop in and out, some even brought their drinks in with them. It was quite entertaining watching it all. We could have moved to another table but we like to see the performer. Think there was a nightclub on as there were a lot of young people waiting outside so we were glad we were staying elsewhere.
Ate here recently with my family. Nice menu although small enough. Food was plentiful for adults but child portions a bit small (only 3 small fish goujons my daughter actually asked for me) but it was tasty and good service.
Very friendly dark haired lady greeted us on arrival. Comfortable, large room. Coffee making machine and of course the fan was much needed due to lack of air conditioning. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order. Deirdre was extremely helpfull, pleasant and informative on reception, Would recommend this hotel if you want to chill out and relax.
Booked here as I wanted to see what the hotel would be like for a hen. Stayed with my bridemaids. Offer on website called ladies night deal had cocktail on arrival, starter, main and a glass of pocessco. When the staff contacted me to confirm booking, I asked was the deal still available. The staff member said yes it was. Arrived that day and was given a token for the deal at reception but they did not write cocktail on token. When we arrived at restaurant. I showed a staff member the deal online, he was okay that's fine and said he will get them later. Then a staff member (think she was management) walked over to us quite aggressively and snapped where is this booking confirmation of your free cocktail. She had a notepad also just to investigate. I was taken back about her rudeness and said well it's on your website. She snapped well show me. I showed her and even showed her it was their website. She stormed off without even saying sorry. I was so uncomfortable and was awful upset. Just wanted to leave. Was going to complain at check out but she was checking us out. Pure snappy and rude. She asked me was everything okay. I did not want to say anything. She snapped.. Well was everything okay. I just mumbled OK. Felt like I was pure picked on by this staff member. I did not say anything to this person so this was not called for. Never ever coming back. So thank you my decision is made.
Just back from another visit to the Prince. Had an absolutely great time. Everything perfect. So near restaurants, pubs and shops. Great bar and food is amazing. Just love breakfast here all made to order. The rooms are absolutely spotless and great shower and television. Thanks to all the staff for everything. Hope to see you soon.
I would especially like to thank Leonie, front office manager and to all of the staff at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Athlone for looking after our hen party for my sister's hen weekend recently. From the moment we checked in at reception with Vicki (very helpful, friendly), we were made to feel so welcome, nothing was a bother even delivering party bags to the guests in their rooms, we were delighted with the function room so we could set up decorations and games and leave them there safely. the finger food was really lovely friday evening and thank you also to Michael for all his help with the tv installation and set up of the room etc. The bedroom myself and the bride and bridesmaids were in was lovely and roomy and thank you for supplying a glass of bubbles. we really enjoyed the music on friday night in the bar and the bar had a lovely atmosphere. great food served during the day also. for Saturday, the boat cruise was such a fun activity for the group of 17 ladies and we had great craic and the weather really made it. Dinner was really tasty saturday night and good service also! we loved the whole weekend and being in a very clean comfortable relaxed hotel made the weekend for my sister and her friends. we particularly loved that breakfast served until 11.00 a.,m., We were so near to everything in town for sat morning shopping in the shopping centre and we even got a quick visit to Seans Bar!. Aisling, also in reception was just a pleasure to deal with over the weekend and she was so welcoming, friendly and helpful, thank you for all the help with our queries! thanks again for all your help Leonie with the numerous emails and phone calls, we will definitely be back for a visit! i would 100% recommend the Prince of Wales Hotel for a girlie getaway, couples weekend, quiet weekend away with shopping etc. Best wishes and Thanks Again, Aisling
