Room was clean, spacious and bed comfortable. Staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast was average. Swimming pool had lessons taking place on the Saturday so adults were walking around in outdoor clothes/shoes which was a bit unsanitary.
We had a fantastic stay in Sheraton thanks to manager Garrett McGuiness who went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Excellent breakfast. Staff so friendly and welcoming. Leisure centre is fab. Well definitely be back and recommend to all.
We booked the delux suite with a view of the town . It wasn't as elegant as it looked in the photos on the website, to us it was just your average bog standard hotel room with a few extras in it but we still had a nice stay . The room was clean and spacious . The staff was friendly and helpful and we had a very peaceful two nights sleep.
A really good hotel. Staff very helpful especially the manager, Joe, who sorted out a slight room issue with minimum fuss. Good location with direct access to mall and just a few minutes walk to the river. A major bonus was the free underground parking. Room was spacious and well appointed with great bathroom. Would not hesitate to stay again, hopefully for a little longer.
Stayed in this hotel, beautiful breakfast and dinner, very tasty. Lovely helpful staff. Very central location in athlone town. Bonus right beside a shopping centre!! Lovely stay! Would highly recommend
Clean, attractive, comfortable room with great view. Staff friendly and helpful. Easy, pleasant walk down the street to local pubs, and the castle. The only suggestions I have are: (1) the light above the bathroom sink shines directly down, making it hard to see my face (I am surprised that women guests have not commented on this). It could be corrected easily by a small, lighted facial mirror to the side of the mail mirror. (2) the music playing overhead in the common areas was standard light pop (mostly American); it would have been more in the spirit of Athlone for the music to be traditional Irish tunes. If I am going to take the time to travel to Athlone, I would like to feel that I am in Ireland, not in Chicago. Still, a very good experience.
We only stayed for one night but the location is excellent and the rooms are very spacious. We also had a lovely view down the river. Staff were very friendly, only issue was the need to wear a cap in the pool and have to pay to use one. We weren’t aware of the pool cap requirement in Ireland, so would have been good for the hotel to warn about this. Otherwise a good hotel.
Stayed here for a night away with my husband. The hotel is lovely. The hotel staff are great they’re really accommodating. The bar and restaurant are lovely. However, the pool area was the noisiest I’ve ever been to. Have no problem with kids in a pool but there was around 20 kids. There was also people walking around the pool area in their outdoor shoes drinking and eating and taking pictures on their mobile phones despite the signs everywhere. It felt really unsanitary and not relaxing at all. We booked spa treatments as part of our package and were told that they weren’t available when we got there also. Staff were great though and refunded us just disappointing as it was the purpose of our visit. Wouldn’t be back for a relaxing break
Stayed for one night on business nearby, stay in a lot of hotels worldwide and few if any reach this standard. Bit of a maze but I can cope with that, breakfast was truly 5 star as was the help from staff and the bar maid, well done guys..
This is a nice hotel with good staff. Overall, I was satisfied with the stay but, for €138 per night for a single occupancy room, I would have expected the tap and mirror in my bathroom to be in good shape (see photo, room 304). Also, most items on the night room service menu aren’t available. I wanted a soup at 00:30 but was told only a sandwich or a bowl of cereal were available (see photo for menu advertised). Bit disappointing to not have the options you’re paying for.
