Rixos did it’s part in hosting guests of the capital for many years. Staff is now well trained and attitude is good. Of course natural depreciation and harsh weather are taking its tall. Also as it was built many years ago, when country did not have much money, construction standards and finishes are rather unrefined. But it does what it say: warm, good size rooms. Nice lobby.
Value for money! I have only good things to say about this hotel and especially for the services and the polite people. Nice location, rich breakfast, luxury environment. The only min point was that there was an unpleasant smell in the room upon our arrival, probably because the windows remain closed for long time, due to low outside temperatures. We had to ventilated the room ourselves in order to feel better. Maybe the management should take this under consideration. Despite this definitely I am coming back
The architecture doesn’t inspire but located centrally it is a good hotel to stay in. The staff is outstanding in their focus on service. Food is so so. The swimming pool is small but the fitness center and spa are well provided with facilities. The Irish bar is the place to hang out whether for a coffee or drink. There is live music everyday starting at 9 pm and the quality is surprising.
Staying around 250 times/year in 4 to 5 stars (and above) hotels, here's my opinion of the Rixos Astana. The outside looks good and the hotel is well located. The rooms are outdated and too small for longer stays. You have to be inventive to open a big suitcase! Room temperature is almost impossible to regulate. All the thermostats have no influence on temperature. In some of the rooms there is an extremely cold draft coming out of the electrical sockets. I've seen some people write here "state of the art". What state of the art, where can you connect an iPhone to a speaker system? Lying in bed, how do you control the lights, shower water temperature very hard to regulate as well.etc.... Nowadays everybody travels with electronic devices but around the workstation there's no electric socket available. Mostly 2 in total for the whole room! You want to charge a device, start liberating sockets by pulling other things. Another good note are the staff. Yes indeed, very friendly. Some are ALWAYS with a smile, no matter what happened and some can add to this a good English knowledge too. Special thanks to Miss Aliya Ibrayeva who controls the Irish pub and makes everybody feel welcome. Irish pub is a plus but depends if you can resist cigarette smoke. Culinary, well what to say.... some dishes are o.k., others total disasters....room for improvement for sure. Rixos is losing its position cause competition gets bigger and better!!!!
The Rixos Astana is an impressive hotel with a lot of nice micro-spaces to hang around and have a tea or a coffee. Staff is very friendly and facilities are state-of-the-art. The breakfast restaurant is not that cosy but the variety of food is good.
On a previous trip I was taken by my hosts to eat here and when planning this trip I had a look at the hotel's prices and was staggered to find that it was cheaper than the Marriott and the Hilton Garden Court (where I had previously stayed). Arriving at any hotel after a six hour + flight at 0700 hrs can be a trial but the very well trained and attentive receptionist and porters made it a joy. I was in my room and in bed 15 minutes after the taxi pulled up! I was upgraded to a very nice large room with a full range of facilities and a bathroom with shower and bath with jacuzzi facilities. Very good toiletries with the only surprising omission being no face cloths. Complimentary wifi and water completed a very attractive package with great (Marriott quality) pillows. Room heating was efficient and adjustable (it was minus 27 outside). Breakfast buffet choice was wide with an egg chef on duty and fresh pancakes and waffles. Sadly no pork products on offer and no marmalade. The spa is terrific with an Indonesian masseuse from Bali who had magic hands - best way I know to get over a longish flight and a five hour time difference. In my view the hotel is very good value for money and highly recommended.
We been to irish pub with our friends for the evening the staff was friendly the musicians were very good but the only problem was sometime you might need tk wait a bit long to get your waiter but everything was good we will visit again
In general, when you come to Kazakhstan do not expect that the received services will cost the money paid. It is the rule of a thumb here. Rixos hotel one of the first one that appeared in Astana once capital was moved there so it is quite old. You can notice that hotel is not well-maintained from sheets, furniture, bathroom, carpet. The restaurant does not worth to visit. Though they have a really nice Irish Pub in lobby. As for SPA, go outside and you will find better ones right out the corner. It is prestigious to stay there, but the hotel do not worth paid money
With a healthy breakfast buffet, attentive hotel staff, from the reception to the housekeeping staff. I really enjoyed my second stay at the Rixos President Astana hotel. Especially the choice of restaurants and bars. Many thanks and I really look forward to my next stay at your hotel.
I cannot speak well enough of the excellent service of this hotel. I ended the last leg of my Kazakhstan trip in this hotel before I departed Astana. I have absolutely no regrets in paying the additional costs for such an excellent hotel. The receptionists at the front desk are professional and follows up on every requests. The bedrooms and housekeeping standards are top notch. My requests have been acceded to. There were some problems to my bathroom and the lamp shades initially but the problems were rectified promptly. Food and drinks at the Irish pub are pretty good. For a plate of 4 lamb chops, I paid only about 4000 KZT. It was done really well. No way, can you this at this price in any first world city. Honestly, I cannot think of anything bad to say about the hotel. My entire stay felt very cosy, warm and hospitable, which really helps when it is kind of freezing at sub-zero temperatures in Astana at night now. I also had an amazing view from the balcony of my room on the top floor.
