Spent a week full board here in September. Stayed in room 610 which was a reasonable size. The one thing lacking was shelf space resulting in us spreading our things on a table and fridge top. Bed was comfortable and the standard thing of pushing two singles together. We had a patio with two chairs and table along with a clothes drier. Great as we were cycling and needed to wash our kit each day. Shower was fine. The dining hall was large as the system was first come first served. You are allocated a dining table which you keep for your stay. Food was variable quality and each meal there was something which my wife and I preferred because it seemed better cooked or quality. Breakfast was standard continental buffet no option for a fresh omelette, though you could boil your egg fresh, you do need to keep your eye on it as some people would take any egg that is there. Evening meal was a choice of pastas, fish, meat. salad was fresh. Not sure about lunch as we tended not to be there. My big gripe is the coffee from the machine is only available in the morning and it was not very good. The staff were able to make fresh coffees from a superior coffee making machine the sort you would get in most coffee shops and restaurants. This service was not available to paying guests. You had to pay 2.5 euros from the bar. There are several small beaches within easy walking distance of the hotel. My wife likes to snorkel and she says that there is a great deal of fish life close to the shore. Local market is on Mondays. I would certainly stay again as the positives out weigh the negatives.
First visit to Sardinia; my wife has difficulty walking and even though we asked for suitable accommodation we were allocated a room initially with over 12 steps to climb and then 20 further to get to our first floor apartment. We struggled with our cases as there was no one in reception to help. Reception staff could not make any decisions to reallocate our room and were very defensive and relatively inexperienced.Thakfully that all changed the next day when a very pleasant manageress sorted us out and we had a ground floor apartment very close to the restaurant/bar facilities. The remainder of our stay was problem free. On the food side the restaurant staff were very innovative in recycling unused food but generally fish and meat main courses were excellent as well as the pasta dishes.
We arrived late one evening to find that our room was on the ground floor, at the back, with a huge bush right outside the only (shuttered) window. It was more like a cell than a holiday room. There was a rusty sponge shelf in the shower and we needed a stool to stand on to reach the coat hangers. There was only one chair for two of us and no table and nowhere to sit outside. However, on asking for a transfer the following morning, we were soon moved to an upper floor room, with a lovely view of the grounds and the sea from our balcony, which had table and two chairs. The couple in the next room had a similar experience. In our new room the shower was extremely modern and we could reach the hangers in the wardrobe. There was a large selection of food - though limited for vegetarians and vegans. The hotel had lovely, helpful, friendly staff but seemed to have no information whatsoever about what was available for guests in the vicinity - apart from one leaflet about an all day boat trip - despite the fact that in nearby Canniglione (an easy walk on the flat promenade) there was a fascinating guided tour of the reconstruction of the ancient Nuragic civilization, lasting almost an hour (with a virtual reality experience at the end) and a bus ride away were several remnants of this civilization.
Most of the recent reviews of this hotel are very fair and accurate. We travelled as a family of three, two adults and a 2 year old. Firstly, we were surprised to be the only couple with a young child at this hotel. This isn’t to say it’s not a family hotel and may be different in season. For a toddler it was perfect with a small clean baby pool. For older children perhaps however it may lack slightly in children’s activities. Again, I can only speak for the time of year we visited. The hotel was a lot lot nicer than I expected. Beautiful renovated reception area, the two pools and pool area were pristine in cleanliness with lovely , new comfortable loungers and tables. The photos don’t do it justice. Our room was perfect. Large and airy, obviously quite new. Bathroom was modern with a big walk in shower and the beds were big and comfortable. Lots of space to hang clothes and a nice little fridge and safe. Cleaners did a great job every day with a thorough clean of room leaving it fresh and tidy. We don’t usually do full board or all inclusive as we prefer to make our own choices for food and this hotel did sort of clarify for us why we don’t do this sort of catering holiday. School canteen is a fair summary of the “ restaurant” for us. Loud, cramped and the food was monotonous. Albeit I am a bit fussy and my husband enjoyed the food a bit more than me with a daily catch of the day and meat choices etc. However cold congealed scrambled egg at breakfast and floppy fatty bacon did not appeal. The hotel could really change this by perhaps putting on a few “ fresh egg stations” and people making pancakes etc etc. The coffee machine was absolutely awful. Good coffee is what I love about italy and that machine certainly didn’t make good coffee. There’s a massive expensive percolator in the middle of the restaurant with bags of fresh coffee that was covered over the whole time we were there. It’d have made such a difference to have that on the go! The same for the juice Machine.. thick sugary syrup! Yuk. Hardly the fault of the hotel but people were rude, pushing in, grabbing what they could. No manners, no niceties. Quite an unpleasant experience. If you come away to have nice relaxing meals in a pleasant environment than this restaurant is not the place for you. The cost of the break meant we had this option as it was just as cheap to hve food included as it was without. However luckily there are some lovely places to eat and drink nearby so although we occasionally “ fuelled” up here, the majority of the time we ate delicious crispy pizzas, croissants and real coffee in nearby establishments giving our money to businesses who seemed a lot more worthy! A few of the staff here were quite rude. The barman in the bar annoyed me one night by insisting I didn’t hve Prosecco and tried “ a different drink” which was 2 euros more expensive not what I wanted, I suspect because he didn’t want to open a new bottle of Prosecco for me. I also asked for a mojito one night to be told rudely “ no cocktails”.- seeing as its a cocktail bar with a cocktail menu this seemed odd to me. The restaurant manager also seemed to blank us most days as if we were an inconvenience with a toddler. We were the youngest in the hotel by a good 20 years( and we are both mid 30s) and sometimes felt we were treated inferior because of this. Some of the staff were fantastic ( lovely lady on reception with long curly hair and young black male in restaurant). Parking was great and well worth hving a car as lots to see in area and the nearby town is lovely with a gorgeous beach area and beautiful shops and places to eat. This hotel is probably a good 30 mins walk to the town however so if you don’t have great mobility be aware of this. Check in was extremely speedy and easy. Cannot comment on evening entertainment as we didn’t see any of it. If you turn out of hotel and walk down to the sea, on the corner on the right is a lovely little taverna run by two lovely People.. mojitos were to die for and the pizzas and food great too! If you need to escape the canteen and fancy a pre dinner drink please go and enjoy one at their bar as the views are fantastic. Would we come back? Probably not.. however we have had a wonderful holiday and all in all this hotel is in a great area and ticks a lot of the boxes.
We stayed here for a week in the last week of September and were happy with our choice. The hotel is generally smart and comfortable and all the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms vary. Ours was spacious and clean, although pretty basic and a bit dated in its decor. Our elderly mothers’ room was not great, dark and the wardrobe rail was too high to reach. The reception staff were immediately helpful and offered a free upgrade the next day, something we much appreciated. The new room was brighter and had a sea view - a big improvement. The hotel has entertainment every night with a keyboard singer. There was a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere each night in the bar/terrace area. We were on a full board deal and thought the food was generally good, with sufficient choice and variety. The evenings usually witnessed large coach parties of guests and at times the dining room got hectic. Sometimes we felt the place was more like a glorified canteen. At lunch it was much calmer. I can’t imagine there is much the hotel can do about this, it’s more to with the volume of guests going in for dinner at the same time. The pool is very nice and the grounds of the hotel are well maintained. We loved the location, close to the beach and always enjoyed the beautiful walk into Cannigione. At the time of the year we went, everywhere was peaceful with fantastic weather. We took a boat trip to the Maddalena Archipelago ( finishes at end of September) which was great. We also took a public bus to Porto Cervo. You can hire bikes in Cannigione and get the hotel ‘noddy train’ into town. I would recommend this hotel for a good value, relaxing holiday on the beautiful island of Sardinia.
We've just returned from a wonderful week on the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia, staying at the Blu Hotel Laconia (28 Sept to 5 Oct). We booked direct with the hotel 3 months prior to our 'end of season' stay and had a good rate for full board which included wine and water with meals. Our room was in the 8xx block with a seaview - the room was spacious, bathroom less so but all was clean and in excellent condition, as was the rest of the hotel. A safe is included in the room at no charge and wifi is free which, in our room, was a good strong signal. The air conditioning was quiet !! As other reviewers have said, the food was 'OK', always something different but could have been hotter. Salads etc are a bit samey. The wine is nothing special but it's included so hey, we'll go with it. A table is allocated to you at your first meal and that's where you sit for the rest of your stay, so there's no worry about finding a table. After a couple of days, we asked for a table outside, as there were a number of tours staying which turned the interior into a bit of a canteen/bun fight. Bar prices weren't too bad. Reception staff, in particular Anita, were very helpful and all staff were polite and courteous. We didn't use the hotel pool, so cannot comment. We hired a car as the hotel is about 40 minutes from Olbia Airport and the cost of transfers meant a car was the sensible choice for us; there is plenty of parking at the hotel. Having a car, we were able to tour round the north east peninsular of the island - the hotel offer packed lunches to those on full board. You really can't miss the spectacular beaches and scenery. Visiting this late in the season meant the public car parks at beaches became free on 1st October and the daytime temperature was mid 20s all week. The beach nearest the hotel has some sand, but a few meters further on towards Cannigione there are small sandy beaches. We enjoyed our week and wouldn't hesitate to return.
The good points are that the reception staff are excellent, very helpful and courteous and the location is excellent. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The towels and bed linen were changed regularly and there is a small fridge in the room. The grounds are extremely well kept. The downside is the rooms are quite small, the food is acceptable but not 4 star hotel quality and the 'free' wine is a bit grim. The restaurant staff take away your plate as soon as you put your knife and fork down and there is no atmosphere as the dining area is like a school canteen and at 7.30pm is bedlam with well over 100 people milling about to get food. The room cleaners were knocking on our door at 8.15am to come in and clean the room so we had to put out the do not disturb notice.every night. The wardrobe hanging rail was so high my wife had to stand on a chair to get a hanger off the rail!. The alleged private beach is very small and not very nice but there are other local beaches which are superb. All in all, adequate but not 4 star.
Last minute booking. I found the hotel to be quite nice. Clean ample space in the room, but then again I only use my room for the bed and the shower. I even had air conditioning that worked well and the view wasn’t too bad. Can’t talk about the bar or the restaurant, but thought breakfast was a little lack lustre. Swimming pool was nice and parking in front of the hotel and across the road. The front of desk staff were all pretty helpful.
Fantastic place, very friendly and helpfull staff, amazing food, the hotel is quite beautifull and in a great place. Rooms were quite clean, modern and confortable. Price is also really acessible. Not a very important thing for myself but might be to others, the wifi signal is quite weak or drops a lot in certain parts of the hotel. As for the rest, its perfect and a very enjoyable place.
On the 6xx block there is a one room with a double bed witch take the 90% of rooms space, there is NO windows,if you want to lock yourselfes you only can lock the wooden spallet but its block sunlight at all. Very disappointing ok its standard room but not a 4 star hotel... Its like 2 star youth hostel.. The hotel facilitys are ok just these rooms are like a joke.
