I have stayed at this property about 6 times, and each time it has been a low cost, clean, safe and convenient hotel to stay at. This time there were some issues that seemed sloppy, and showed poor planning and execution by the hotel staff. The room I stayed in, 226 was recently renovated, my guess. The toilet paper holder was screwed to the wall backwards so each time one used toilet paper, the paper roll would fly across the room. The coat hooks were screwed to cabinet so high that me, as an averaged height woman, could almost not use them. The TV has many channels, but most had no reception. The breakfast was a complete disaster. We arrived 30 minutes prior to the end of the service, but there was no bread, no coffee, the organe juice tasted like water, the cold meats and cheese looked like they had been sitting too long at room temperature. The pineapple slices looked rotten. There were no eggs (sunny side up). The bacon was room temperature. Some of the serving utensils (knives especially) were dirty. Albeit they were using a temporary facility as they are restoring their dining room, but the Food quality looked dangerous, and things were dirty. It was disgusting, and after I complained to the reception, there was a flurry of activity with staff making coffee, cleaning and replenishing food. On a slow Sunday morning, why should the guests need to force staff to do their job? Pitiful. The reception tried to use an excuse that it was only a temporary location for the diningroom. This has nothing to do with staff not doing their jobs. I have considered asking for a refund.
Stayed for two nights and experienced things like: no new towels after housekeeping (had to call for them), no soap in the shower-room container (was already under water and had no time to ask/wait for more), had stuff that I had thrown away taken out of the waste basket and placed on the desk (!!), got soft-boiled eggs refrigerator-cold at 06.30 when breakfast started to be served... I also had to pay the bill when checking in, which makes some kind of sense afterwards... ;-). No, not a place to revisit.
There are not many hotels in the town & this one is really well situated for the town centre & despite staying there on a Saturday night we were not troubled by any noise. Rooms & facilities were basic, with the breakfast providing the normal continental bread, eggs, meat & cheeses. What made the visit stand out though was the bar & its huge stock of whiskies from around the world, unfortunately we discovered it too late in the day to really take advantage of it, but the way they were shown in front of a huge mirror was a sight to behold.
Comfort Hotel is located in the "middle" of Arvika. Close to everything. Had a single room. Small but with everything you need. The vending machines on the 2 floor where all out of order. Breakfast was kind of boring - and the breakfast room was very crowded. Very friendly staff!
Friendly staff, especially the kitchen guy. Good location in the middle of village center. As all the hotel in the chain they have this nice and homey feel with a evening meal served from 19-21. Friday and Saturday you will hear "raggar" cars driving around with loudspeakers and various music streaming out.
If you are traveling by train, this hotel is several blocks away. They do offer gated parking for 100 SEK but spaces are limited so I would reserve ahead of time. Street parking is not allowed after 11 pm. The person at the reception desk is exceptional, friendly and so helpful. Thanks for translating some Swedish messages for us. We were surprised that there is complimentary breakfast and dinner buffets. The rooms are really small with only 2 single beds. There is no room for a cot. Our adult son was with us so we had to pay for 2 rooms. There is free wifi. There was no refrigerator. The bathroom situation is really annoying. It is so tiny and when taking a shower water floods the entire bathroom floor no matter how careful a person is. Not a total fan of this hotel. The person at reception was the highlight!
Easy 5 minute walk from train station. Dinner and breakfast buffet included with excellent food and many choices. Room clean and be comfortable. Friendly staff at.reception. Would recommend. Nice small town in Sweden. Good place to stop on the way to Stockholm from Norway. We chose this place because Oslo was totally sold out in the city center June 10 on a Wednesday. While traveling in Sweden on a rail pass we had some difficulties with reliability but it all worked out in the end.
A nice, clean room and a good breakfast. Did not try the evening buffet. We were greeted by a nice person at check-in and had a tasty whiskey at the hotel bar. No luxury, but no complaints either. Oh, and the beds were comfy. :-)
First off, I don't like Choice hotels. Something about their marketing rubs me the wrong way. Having said that, I have very little to complain about regarding our stay at Bristol in Arvika. Everything was... Average. More or less exactly what you'd expect. A little tired, a little dated, like things always gets when you go for anything but timeless and can't keep up with the changes. I liked the gated parking lot (not that parking is hard to find in Arvika, but still) and the self service laundry option - always nice when travelling with children. I might stay here again.
Spent one night in Arvika together with my family. We had the family room which was a two double rooms with a door between. Nice and clean and a competetive price as compared to other alternatives in Arvika.
