The Parador at Arties is situated in a beautiful area, with plenty to do and see without leaving the village. There are many quiet walks including a walk to the thermal swimming pool, where the water is naturally heated to 38 degrees.
Very comfortable stay, excellent staff, friendly & helpful. Restaurant very good, good choice of food. Rooms well appointed, large bathroom with great views across the very pretty village. Good location in a quieter village than Vielha. Amazing local scenery, worth a drive up to the ski resort, breath taking!!
Hotel name: Paradores de Arties Hotel catagory: 4 stars Hotel location: right in the middle of the city center near the main road Hotel first impression: has character Reception: friendly Room type: normal room Room number: 302 Room first impression: has character, worn down, old furniture Room size: adequate for one night View from the room: mountains Beds: double, hard, bed makes noise, too small if you're taller then 1m80 Bathroom: dark unlit bathtub with uncomfortable shower, double sink but only one had warm water Noise: a lot of noises from the hallway, cracking noises from the bed Cleanliness: good Air conditioning: no! Safe: yes Staff: friendly Breakfast, cost: €17 per person Breakfast choice: adequate but I was almost done when staff asked us for coffee or thee Parking: free, in front of the hotel, not gated Pool: yes, water was unheated therefore unusable WiFi: reasonable speed, good reception in the room, bad reception at the pool Paid: €137 including breakfast Remarks: This hotel is all about charm and character. No design or fancy stuff. Good for one night but lacks some updating including a better bed and noise isolation. In comparison, we stayed in the Parador in La Seu Urgell the day after (with is a 3 star) and there is a world's difference between the two. They need to bring Arties into the 21st century, fast. Would I stay again?: no We had dinner: Era Coquela in Vielha, €34 for a 3 course meal including wine.
The Parador is well located in the pretty village of Arties, ten minutes from Baquiera's skiing. There are a number of good restaurants in Arties, and it is much prettier than concrete Baquiera. Since it is very easy to park in the massive Parking du Telecabina in Baquiera or in Beret, Arties is a good option for anyone skiing. As to the hotel itself, the room is fine, and the breakfast was excellent. The public sitting area is huge and very comfortable. Be aware that the internet access was absolutely terrible so bring playing cards!
Convenient parador for the slopes of baqueiras in the pretty town of arties just 10 minutes drive away.Special parador, though not as special as some, with basic comfortable rooms...parador restaurant good regional food but not open every day during our visit with a 2nd more expensive 'dry snow' restaurant open but not to our liking. Lots of good restaurants in the town though,
as always we had a very nice stay at Arties parador. Staff are friendly and helpful . Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast and ate well in the restaurant . We have visited many times - there are beautiful walks nearby and the parador is just a short drive to the ski resort. We will definitely visit again.
This hotel sits amid beautiful mountain scenery, even though they are on a main road. The entire community is well built in stone and wood as is the hotel. All combine into a harmonious and pleasant view. The staff was helpful and attentive; the room large and the bathroom well appointed. Breakfast buffet included fresh juices, fruits, croissant and more rustic breads, jellys, honey, cream cheese and the tomato pulp characteristic of the region; as well as hams, bacon and sausages, fried eggs, tortillas and omelettes; fresh coffee with or without warm milk; teas or milk, soy based or regular. The bar downstairs has several cozy seating areas and one huge roaring fire which the bartender keeps going. Dinner in the Dry Snow is included with half pension and the three courses were very good, though I would have liked vegetables with the shrimp, scallop and fish plate. (It did come with soup or salad and dessert.) hiking in the area around the hotel is really a walk between towns, you can go further afield but at this time of the year, mountain tops were snow covered and we were not up to below zero temperatures this time out. We used points for one day and paid the other. It runs about €100 for the room and €60 for breakfast and dinner for two. That's a little higher than some other Paradores but not excessive. Winter is a great time for all of the hotels in the chain that are open.
Third stay here. Only four rooms occupied. No snow, so no people. Food not up to normal standards. Very disappointed, we could have stayed elsewhere or eaten elsewhere; where there would have been more atmosphere.
We loved this hotel as it was not only charming but the town as well. It provided a welcome break in our drive through the gorgeous Pyrenees. The decor was both rustic and elegant. The restaurant was quite sophisticated and the food was good, however the staff was slow in bringing out our entrees.
