This was my 2nd visit to tigotan. I stayed in November 2016 with my partner and this was when the hotel had just been done up and was in the middle of changing from "dream Noelia sur" to tigotan. We loved our stay in 2016 and couldn't wait to return for this holiday. Our room was basic and exactly same as last time we stayed so can't complain about that it was cleaned to a high standard by the maids and had no issues. I can't believe that they have changed the rules about the roof top terrace as when we stayed 3 years ago this was standard and anyone could use the sunbeds on the rooftop but now they are charging 40 euro per day which I think is absolutely ridiculous. This should be included as standard. It was a bit of a nightmare trying to get a sunbed in the morning even some mornings by 830am all of the beds would be reserved. It was a busy time of year however its annoying when people reserve the beds and don't return to them for hours. The food was average. I remember it being a lot better a few years ago and due to this we ate out most nights. The staff were very friendly and can tell that they work hard to provide good customer service and keep the hotel looking clean. The adults only is a very appealing part of this hotel and the location is great. For the price and what you get I don't believe this is a 4 star hotel. The drinks at the pool are a fortune even a bottle of water is over 2 euros. Better of walking across the road and getting all your drink at the supermarket! Good hotel but a lot of negatives which could easily be resolved for a better experience.
My husband and I have been to Tenerife a few times now but this is the first visit to the Tigotan. I honestly cannot fault the hotel. Our whole stay has been amazing. From the room /(smart room) to the staff which are bloody fab. Never before I have met a happier team. I’m a fussy eater and sometimes struggle finding things I like, not here! I’m defo going home with an expanding waist line and many more laugher likes from the days spent around the pool laughing and joking with new found friends. The pool party was fantastic, think one of the best things about this hotel is the mix of age here from 20 to 80. The hotel is so clean. Never have I seen a team work so hard, from pool cleaning room cleaning and in the restaurant the whole place is spotless. Cannot wait to return. I’ve already started looking for next year.
Best hotel i ever stayed at! The facilities were brilliant, food was outstanding and the over all vibe was good. Really enjoyed it and can't wait to get back!! The rooftop was very nice to sit out and chill for the day. The food at the pool bar and cafe mar both very nice. Highly recommend
We stayed in a Romance Room, and paid quite a bit extra for this but we didn’t want to stay in a double room as they looked terrible from the pictures and reviews. The room was nice with 2 sinks, a hot tub bath in the room, a large tv and a kettle/coffee making facilities. Safe was free to use during our stay too but I would expect this as standard. Downsides were the wardrobe was open plan so not much storage and not covered up (get insects crawling in and dust from balcony and when cleaner has been in). There is a big window in the shower which is fine as you can watch tv (or your partner watch you – bit weird) but not the most practical as the toilet was in the same area. The romance room also has built in speakers – unfortunately we had some disrespectful neighbours who played their music at full blast for 4 hours as loud as they could when we were trying to get to sleep. Had to report them to reception and the people in the room got abusive to us and threw things on our balcony and shouted threats at us. We told reception the next day we don’t feel safe going on our balcony, they didn’t really care about the threats and said they are going home the following day. We decided to stay as the only other room they could offer us was completely in the shade and had a terrible view. We also wouldn’t have got any money back. I had also reported to reception that our balcony door didn’t shut properly. It locked but then a faulty mechanism meant there was a good couple of inches gap at the top of the balcony door which was open. I don’t think anyone could break in but our aircon was faulty too (it smelt of sewerage) so I reported it to reception. It took them til the last day we were there to get fixed, so we had to listen to all the live music by the pool as there was no way we could drown it out. It was a rock concert and going on til 11.45pmm so if you want an early night forget it! We also had cockroaches and bugs coming in our room from a hole under the sink and this gap in the balcony. They didn’t fix our aircon, I think they tried to it but the smell coming from it when it was turned on was awful – sewerage mixed with garlic. One day while we were told to go to reception for an update on our issues the lifeguard moved our towels! We were gone for 20 mins but he lied and said it was 30 mins (even though we had been sat on them all day for about 4 hours) so I made him find us some other ones. The service of this hotel was awful and nobody communicated with the other, I was so tempted to call Jet2 after day two. We were offered a free bali bed and a bottle of cava in café del mar as they tried to sort out our issues, which we tried to use but we were waiting for 10/15 mins for the staff up there to help us and we were ignored twice so we just left it. Not worth it and there is better atmosphere by the pool downstairs. With the exclusive service you get access to the exclusive lounge which opens at 10.30am – 6pm. A bit of it is outside in the sun, a bit of it is inside and air-con. This was ok, limited spirits (one of each) and a couple of snacks, there was enough to cover what most people would want, wines, beers, vodka, whisky, gin. You help yourself too but you have to consume it in the lounge. After our towels had got moved by the lifeguard when we were at reception we didn’t want to risk it so we were resorted to binge drinking to try and get back to our towels in time. Bit of a ridiculous system. Don’t see why if you have exclusive service, you can’t just get free drinks at the normal pool bar?! Bit backward. This came as standard half board which was breakfast and evening meal. We also got a voucher to book into their special restaurant on site for one night for a free meal but we didn’t take advantage of it. We wanted to eat out every night but one night there was a power cut so we had to eat in the hotel as they had their own backup generator. Breakfast was the same everyday but a wide choice, fruit, cereals, hot English breakfasts, bread, toast, fish options, omelettes etc. and you can help yourself to tea, coffee, juices and cava. The evening meal is only the food, you have to buy your drinks (they add it to your room bill). Food was terribly labelled in the evening as opposed to breakfast. They didn’t highlight what was gluten and dairy free – on one occasion a chef said something was gluten free, another said it wasn’t! I didn’t take the risk, it might have been the language barrier but I had a very bland meal here due to them not catering for allergies enough. There is a great supermarket opposite the hotel though if you do have food allergies, they are clearly marked in there and have a bit of choice. The hotel itself looks really nice which is why I was so disappointed by the many upsets and problems we had while we were there. It wasn’t cheap and we have stayed in better all-inclusive 5 star resorts in other countries for cheaper! Would say it was a 3 star hotel. The cleaners work really hard though, always by the pool early cleaning and inside the communal areas. The hallways to get to our room were filthy though, need upgrading or a deep clean, as do the lifts. They were out of order on so many occasions and were so small anyway, can only fit 4 people in and that’s a tight squeeze. One thing I would say is that the hotel really caters for the disabled, they have accessible rooms and a specific reserved area by the pool. The bars at breakfast and dinner were at a good height so people in wheelchairs could help themselves. I thought this was great. The entertainment/animation team work so hard too and they are great at what they do. Put on some great activities and shows around the pool. There is evening entertainment in Café del mar some nights and in the hotel bar every night. Usual stuff like magic shows, tribute bands etc. All in all I probably would recommend this hotel as it looks better than a lot of others in this area and is a good location– we must have just got unlucky but I think error upon error is not good enough when we pay a lot of money to be in a nice hotel for a week. I think I slept once in all this time and did not come back refreshed.
Absolutely loved it here at this adults only hotel. The only downside if I were to be picky is that the gym doesn't open until 10am. It would be beneficial if it were open for early morning workout before breakfast.
We arrived on the 24th of September at roughly 10pm and although I was dying with a toothache from the flight, the person that checked us in (I think his name was Jan) was so considerate of my pain he insured our check in was quick but included all the details. He was also the same person that checked us out on the 1st of October so please send him our thanks because he was very professional and lovely! He wasn't the only member of staff to be amazing...the cleaners and the kitchen staff including waiters & waitresses... they are all the best we have ever come across. They couldn't help enough and were always happy to help with a smile. Coming from London that's a very rare sight for us. They are a huge credit to the owner and management because they made our experience amazing! The hotel is absolutely spotless. We booked a standard room, I can only imagine what the romantic & smart rooms were like because ours was amazing. You couldn't be bored of the food choices because we were there for a week and barely touched the sides with what this hotel has to offer, glass of champagne with breakfast and a steak dinner... what more could you ask for? My partner particularly loved the pool side bar, the staff there too need to be mentioned. The food and prices were so reasonable and delicious!!! The views from the roof are beautiful. I see people complaining about the rooftop prices for a cocktail (2 for roughly €14) is what we would paid in London anyway so we didn't see it as an issue. If anything we found the cocktails so fresh, fresh lemons and limes and oranges and enough alcohol....we had no complaints at all. If anything it was a bargain! I must end the review with the staff though, from the minute we arrived we seen staff painting & cleaning constantly and they all looked so busy and like they genuinely cared for the hotel... they are the staff of this hotel. Thank you for having us... we will definitely be recommending and definitely be back....room 277...24/09/2019 - 01/10/2019
Been back to the tigaton for second year this hotel is very clean food have a brilliant selection all staff are really friendly. It is in a good position we're you have just a short walk to the beach shops and pubs. They have there own line of entertainment which is great would definatly recommend it.
My husband and I stayed here for a week in May 2019, we stayed half board as or preferred AI isn't available at this hotel. Good points, lovely food plenty of choice, large clean rooms with comfy bed and good sized bathroom, perfectly situated close to the shops and restaurants. Good size pool and lots of sunbeds available. Bad points, you pay for every drink, (the weather was so hot we drank loads) the only free beverage was your morning coffee/tea with breakfast. Evening meal, the waiters come and take your drinks order but you are charged to your room even for soft drinks! The drinks are very expensive as well, add that to drinks throughout the day and you end up with a hefty bill at the end of your stay. If this hotel offers AI in the future we would go again as it was a great base to explore Tenerife, but it's the extra £300 for drinks that will keep us away until then
Just about to leave Tigotan after a fabulous 10 day stay. We have stayed here 5 times. The hotel is beautiful and the lounges and pool area are of a high standard. The restaurant is spacious and never over crowded. The food is excellent always a good selection, roast on every day at dinner plus plenty of other choice including freshly cooked pasta with sauce of your choice, fish and fresh vegetables. The breakfast has an excellent choice of cereal, cooked meat, smoked salmon, full English and omelettes cooked fresh with your choice of filling. The reception staff are very professional and check in was very efficient and a glass of Cava on our arrival was lovely. All the staff are friendly and helpful they are a credit to the hotel. Our only criticism is there should be tea coffee making facilities in all rooms. We look forward to another stay here in the future.
