This hotel is a great place to stay for those in a budget. When I first arrived I was a bit skeptical as the area looked a bit seedy. However once I entered into the hotel property found out it to be very clean and neat. The staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke very good English. The room was large, the air conditioning worked great and the bathroom was very clean. Breakfast was included with my plan and they had 3 breakfasts to choose from, both American and Costa Rican. The location is great about a block from the square near everything downtown. The hotel had fenced parking about 2 blocks away. Don't expect a 5 star hotel but for the price it is a gem.
We stayed in Las Colinas for 3 nights. Pros: great location, nice big rooms, great views of Arenal volcano. Cons: average breakfast, lots of road noise (our room was facing the road but I imagine all rooms would be noisy to some extent). Overall, we enjoyed our stay, however we didn't have the best nights sleep whilst there. If we stayed again we would ask for a room away from the main road.
the place is nice, its has 2 stars, price is ok for that. Its in the middle of La Fortuna, close to everything. I had a room on the 3rd floor with a nice baclocny and ok view of the park (ok since there is a lot of electric cables and building, not the hotels fault). The complementary buffet breakfast, was big and very good, service was very nice. The only problem is parking, which is 150 mts away from the hotel, with a locked gate but no security and in a very dark place with no one around, I was not conformable leaving my car there or walking to it at night (regardless of the hotel saying they have a camera and the place is quite safe).
Amazing hotel! The front desk staff helped us plan multiple activities in the area and they were extremely helpful with their suggestions. The hotel is gorgeous and is in a fantastic location. I highly recommend staying here!
Stayed 3 nights as part of G Adventures hotel. Comfortable no frills kind of place with a fantastic view of Arenal volcano. Stayed in a massive twin room (it probably could have slept 5 in the 3 beds) with the room looking directly through the common area to the volcano. We didn't have breakfast included (and to be honest it didn't look great) but there are plenty of great options nearby (rainforest cafe opposite one of them). The room had AC, safe, fridge, drying rack in the bathroom and an excellent shower. Plenty of power sockets to charge stuff (probably a TV too but I didn't watch it for 3 weeks so stopped noticing). There is a bar but didn't really use it. There's a supermarket & liquor store on either corner of the hotel and the hotel has no problem with you bringing food/ beer in from outside. I'd injured myself on the first day here so spent time going from bed to the common area - pretty peaceful during the day. La Fortuna is the kind of place you need to do stuff - the town is small and easily walkable. Try to avoid rooms on the ground floor as every guest has to walk past it and they set breakfast up from around 0530. So could be noisy.
Getting here and getting around is super easy. You are in walking distance to all the shops and cafe's, and tour buses can park in front easily. The staff were professional, kind, super friendly and helpful. I noticed that someone in the review said that the beds were not comfortable - all I remember is that I certainly got a good rest after all my hiking throughout the day! I didn't have issues with noise, and I'm a light sleeper. Nice view from up on the balcony, ok wi-fi access, the breakfast was hearty, and I felt really safe entering and exiting. Washroom & room were clean with a nice, cozy feel. I'd recommend this to anyone coming into La Fortuna, especially those without a car.
The hotel was clean and had a decent breakfast. The beds were not great, bathroom set up with rack for clothes next to the toilet was odd, and no mattress covers under the sheets. Location was in center of town with great view of the volcano from the 2nd floor common area.
For us, being in the heart of La Fortuna was important - we wanted to be able to walk to restaurants and bars - and not feel trapped at one of the fancier resorts outside of town. With that said, Las Colinas was perfect for us - clean room, comfortable bed, good air conditioning, plenty of hot water, great breakfast, friendly staff, and amazing view of Arenal. It's right next door to a grocery store and easily walkable to everything in La Fortuna. Parking lot down the block was secure and easy to park. My only negative was we upgraded to a room with a balcony - unfortunately the balcony is right up against the adjacent building and we thought/hoped it would be with a view of the volcano, so not worth the extra in our opinion. Otherwise, we'll definitely be back when we return to Arenal area!
Clean, 24/7 Security, fabulous breakfast (really a brunch) menu varies daily, guests are treated like family, quiet after 9:00pm, helpful staff for booking and directions, great location, nice view of Arenal Volcano),has attractive art and a garden inside, restaurants, banks, and pharmacies nearby, nice AC, plentiful Hot water, safe town (even at night), no mosquitos, no zika, very few bugs, near to many adventures (hiking, rafting, rappelling, cycling) wonderful volcanic hot springs nearby, low cost to visit Monteverde Cloud Forest by boat and bus, Adobe Car Rental nearby, public bus service to San Jose and Liberia(best airport) airports, town has fiesta with dancing and Bull fights (no bulls are killed), close to medical facilities, well managed, pleasant atmosphere, afternoon bar in patio, excellent wi/fi, well lighted, running track nearby, Costa Rican Coffee, tea, real maple syrup, homemade jams, open 6:00am until ... I highly recommend it and come back here every year.
Las Colinas Hotel is a well-maintained Hotel. The entire staff is hard working and efficient. Everyone is friendly and very helpful. Rooms are cleaned daily! The patio offers a nice new of Arenal Volcano and is a nice place to sit and relax. Hotel is centrally located. One can walk to shops and restaurants. Taxis and public bus station are nearby. Breakfast may be included, the food is delicious. I have nothing but praise for this hotel.
