Lake Towadaso was ok

The hotel is huge but empty. The other hotels in the lake are all shut down. Our hotel was the only place to eat. At the small place open for dinner there was only ONE lady trying to do everything all by herself!!! We had to wait a long time to be served. She took orders, cooked & served the customers & didn’t have time to bus the tables. The breakfast was included with our room & it was okay. The waterfall was impressive. The onsen is huge but empty. I was the only one in there.

OLD hotel

Most facilities especially the onsen are old and worn-out. Don't understand while open air onsen closed in winter which is what we most enjoyed. Another thing we don't understand is the hotel charged extra 50 yen for using the hot spring (on top of the 150 yen tax) Breakfast is terrible. Surely will not book again.

Autumn trip 2019

Breakfast is the same for 3 days we stayed. Dinner is better. Futon too thin, each nite we need to double the futon. Hotel fast response to our request for non smoking rooms, but since all are smoking rooms, they deodorized our rooms, and no smoking smell when we arrived. Great service

Loved the onsen and the traditional feel of the place. It would be good if they had English language information book for the complete instructions available Restaurant closed at 6:30 at night so we couldn't get anything to eat

old and poorly maintained hotel

We were put into rooms that are old and Poorly equipped. There are no towels and only hand cleaners in the room. Only one noodle place to eat and breakfast was terrible! I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Location near the lake, just a short walk is great. It is not lake-side. We got half board. Our room was small Japanese style in new wing that strongly smelled of some type soyu, even after airing. It got too chilly to keep the window open, so I asked if we could switch rooms. Staff is very nice, but replacement was in older wing, nicer room, but clearly not Non-smoking with burn marks on the carpet near the window. We kept the first room. Fixed dinner food left me vaguely unsettled, but the breakfast was fine. For what you pay and the locale, it's fine. Drive around the lake is fantastic. Gorge approach to hotel, we were just a little early to catch the fall colors, but fantastic scenery. Onsen is fine too, older, but fine. 3 tour buses showed up when we checked in.

Great location for Lake Towada and Oirase

The hotel is in an excellent location for Lake Towada (5 min walk) and Oirase stream (~30 min drive or bus). The hotel itself is functional with restaurants and a gift shop on site, but is also very dated and would benefit from renovations. The local area is very quiet, especially at night. It's worth noting that unlike most towns in Japan, there are no mainstream convenience stores nearby for snacks and everyday items. A walk to the lake is recommended as there are some amazing views, nice coffee shops (selling Apple pies made with local Aomori apples), a bronze "Statue of Maidens" and boat rides to take in the scenery.
