We booked a deluxe room but to be honest there wasnt anything deluxe about it. Rooms are very dated and the walls need a good clean or paint. Marks on the walls and rust on the mirror. The balcony was very big but it was like an ice rink and very dangerous, could do with putting salt on it during winter months. The car park was full so we had to park around the corner but it was actuay cheaper and not far at all. Breakfast was average and the chairs were falling apart but always tables available. When we checked in the 2 receptionists just carried on their conversation while serving us and i found that a little rude. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. Location however is excellent. Dont get me wrong i have stayed in worse hotels but i think for a 3 star it is overpriced and that is purely why i wouldnt stay here again. Lower the prices or redecorate and revamp is my opinion.
The Astoria Hotel is a very simple hotel, but was enough for us. The location is very good, in a quiet place. It´s possible to go to the main tourist points by foot. The staff was very polite and we didn´t have any problem. The room is confortable with a clean bathroom. It´s a good choice if you don´t wanna luxe.
This Astoria hotel was located in the centre of Antwerp Belgian. Nice with own parking place, nice and friendly employers, clean rooms, reasonable prices, excellent breakfast, located in the famous diamant area, near the central train station as well. A lot of restaurants, markets and shops. Nearby a great and big ZOO. Nice for children as well. tip: Rent a bike, is easy, cheap and can visit nice places, musea, ZOO, harbour.
stayed one night in this hotel. the Rooms are quite big to my surprise. the rooms are clean and very good for the price you pay. This hotel is walkable distance from the Antwerp Railway station. Very well situated and a lot of restaurant in few minutes walk. This hotel is perfect for business travellers
Clean, comfortable bed, free wi-fi, great breakfast and convenient location. Very close to the train station and a short walk to Rubens House. The decor was a little old but that didn't bother me as much as some of the other reviews.
Well for starters i had a falling out with one of the guests there and was very happy when the female manager came to antagonise and tell me he is important because he is a customer she knows and comes there a lot. i have also worked in the hotel industry and even though i thought to be the bigger person to apologise she still treated me like i was paying chess stables instead of money like everyone else. Good news is the receptionists were very nice. all of them. kindly take your manager for serious induction. i felt i was personally attacked and my part of whatever happened with the other guest was not even up for discussion. :-( i felt i was talking to someone who had her ex leave her for me. :-) she even came to my room ( we took two rooms that night and i paid for mine but she came to my partners room and saying he didn't pay which didn't make any sense, cause he did...and i banged the door to her face before i told her to kindly go and look downstairs before she comes and talks BS just cause she feels like it. even after i tried to apologise to whatever it is to calm her down she just wanted drama so i told her she was very unprofessional btw. childish almost ) oh well.. the hotel is fairly small but who needs a big room. i was glad they had many TV channels but decided to go out and met a lot of nice people. Really close to the Antwerp central station. i liked the area but yeah this hotel was not worth 92 euros. more like 30 maybe but then again it's near the station so yeah. Would i go back? No. but go and find out for yourself :-) oh and the room we were given was not smoking room but it smelled of smoke as soon as we stepped in. had this weird small balcony i couldn't even dare step on. we saw cigarette butts outside the short balcony which has green algae so this wasn't a "yesterday thing" but had to be a longer thing so guys holler at the cleaning lady or receptionist. the bed was comfy but yeah all in all perhaps a make over ( the carpet yikes ) would be great and training for your manager. Oh and the breakfast lol ( why am i remembering this now ? ) i read the reviews that said the breakfast was amazing only to find that it was just cereal and the fruit bowl mix was seriously lacking :-D and thats it. but atlas they had a cappuccino machine and bread :-)
I am marking the Astoria as average as it badly needs renovation. We had a veranda room on the 5th floor; the decking hasn't seen a lick of varnish for years. There were no tables of chairs on the decking and the view is poor (nothing the hotel management can do about that). On the positive side the reception side are amongst the most friendly we have ever encountered. They are very chatty and actually do seem to have an interest in the clients. They also are watchful - whilst at reception I saw them challenge a gentleman they didn't recognise who was coming in with another guy. The breakfast is adequate. They offer a kosher breakfast for an extra €10 per person if booked in advance. This too is adequate. There is a very good kosher cake shop in the vicinity and €10 goes a long way ! Breakfast was till 10am. Perhaps not late enough for travellers who are not in Antwerp on business. The hotel is located in the centre of the Diamond Quarter and at the start of the Jewish Quarter. It is across the road from the largest park in Antwerp (which still isn't very large) and there is a good supermarket around the corner. There is also a fabulous Chinese Restaurant literally around the corner - this will be the subject of a separate review. The hotel is around a 10 minute walk from the Central Station (a magnificent piece of architecture) and well located for seeing the sights of Antwerp. Will use it if we are back in Antwerp again, but as I've already said it could do with refurbishment urgently.
We have stayed here previously and been very pleased. This time however the room appeared to be in need of refurbishment. The walls were badly marked in places and the carpet, whilst hoovered, looked in need of deep cleaning or replacement. The staff are friendly and the breakfast very good for a hotel of this type.
Comfortable, basic hotel with super beds and very helpful staff. Within walking distance of the main attractions. Free WiFi. To be improved on are the towels which were small and a bit worn. Overall it was a good choice for a weekend away.
This hotel's good location is clearly a given, but sometimes it's the little things that make the difference, as in, no complimentary water, ok I can live with that. But no soap, shampoo, etc was either a bad oversight or a tad on the tight side. Room was adequate, nothing more, nothing less. Hard to pinpoint anything more specific, but can't help feeling this hotel could do a lot better for itself with just a little more effort.
