Extremely Disappointing Stay — Not Worth It.
I’ve stayed in three different hotels in La Antigua, all of which have been wonderful — except this one. I decided to give it a try, and I regret it 100%.
From the moment we arrived, the staff was consistently rude, and even when I attempted to escalate concerns, no accommodation or effort was made. As a Silver member with Orbitz, none of my benefits were recognized or honored. It was frustrating and honestly surprising.
The hotel has very unusual and inconvenient policies — for example, they limit the number of pool towels per room, which feels completely unreasonable for a vacation stay. The food was disappointing as well; the breakfast buffet was cold, and the staff would literally hide the cheese so guests had to ask for it. It felt ridiculous and far below the standard of hospitality in Antigua.
The room itself was okay and the hotel overall is decent, but that doesn’t make up for the experience. When you come on vacation, you want a stress-free environment, and this hotel failed to provide that.
Also important: the location is far from the center of Antigua — definitely not walking distance. If convenience matters to you, this is not the place.
For comparison, Portal Hotel has been my best experience in Antigua — excellent service, great location, and everything this hotel was not.
I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously, but based on my stay, I cannot recommend this hotel.
