A fantastic hotel in a lovely countryside location. Good for getting away from it all. The staff were excellent and the breakfast very good. We did the half board option and the evening meals were a bit inconsistent, but didn’t detract from a great stay.

Fab place

Beautiful well maintained convent with super staff and a great offering of local food . Nice surroundings and well appointed room . Please remember aircon type is dependent on the season . So winter only heating is available and summer only cooling - which means if you fee hot at 15 degrees in April you have no choice to cool the room

Something other-worldly about this place

Beautiful location, outside of the charming town of Antequera. We went at the coldest time of year and it felt almost challet-like with open fire and use of the Jacuzzi. The staff were really helpful and the food it the bar was really good. Personally really enjoyed a bit of old-school charm.

Hotel has got some interesting characters. In my view, it was 4 stars not 5 stars that they claimed. I am afraid that there are outdated facilities and a lack of staff. Breakfast is OK but not 5 stars.

Beautiful location and building

Fantastic location, peaceful with beautiful views over the mountains. Close proximity to Antequera and El Torcal. Hotel is a converted 16th century convent and is a very interesting building. Room however has a leek in the ceiling in the hallway, a half drank bottle of beer in the mini fridge, used toiletries and a dusty and damp smell in general. Such a pity for such a fantastic building and location.

Beautiful and quiet location

A beautiful converted monastery in a stunning location. Amazing views of the hills and countryside. Very quiet and peaceful. Staff were friendly and helpful. If you want to be within walking distance of lots of shops and restaurants this is not for you. If you want to relax, enjoy wonderful views and a peaceful setting its absolutely the right place. Food was good, breakfast particularly, service unobtrusive and it's made for relaxing. You probably need a hire car, we didn't but were there just to relax by the pool and enjoy the views. Two nights we walked along a mountain path to the centre of Antequera, easy walk that took an hour and a half and got a taxi back for €14. Only marginal downside was every so often there'd be no staff behind the bar so you'd have to wait 5 mins or a little more to get some attention. Lovely stay and highly recommended for a relaxing break.

Beautiful location,staff let it down!!!!

Beautiful,location,facilities,rooms.Air con poor in room. Bar staff,when you could find them,not brilliant,for a five star hotel. Food and very good menu,but couldn't eat raw uncooked potatoes!! When mentioned to restaurant staff,it was just ignored!!!After meal we visited bar area,we recommend you bring your own drinks from restaurant. Other guests in hotel didn't and left the bar.We think building and surrounding are five star,staff let it down!!!

Lovely peaceful spot, with impressive dining room

We did not do the hotel justice as we arrived very late at night and left in the morning without having breakfast but it is a lovely building in a picturesque, peaceful spot. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They returned my purse, including contents, which had been dropped in car park.

The swimming pool was great (though the glass between pool and toilets are dangerous - I bumped my head twice on it!) The views are great. The food was top class and the service was also excellent. All in all a place I would happily recommend

Historic hotel with 'Wow' factor

This converted convent is a beautiful hotel in a lovely rural location. Sadly we were only there for one night and did not arrive until late, so could not fully avail ourselves of all the facilities. We loved the character of this historic building which really had a lovely feel.

Very poor service

My partner and I stayed for one night during a 3 week trip to Spain. The Hotel promised much - it is quite simply stunning and has the potential to be one of the best hotels in Spain, if not Europe. We wouldn't however rate it as a 5 star at the moment. It is steeped in history with a sympathetic (and obviously very expensive) renovation - new and old mixed together. What let it down was the appalling service - not the fault of the staff - there just weren't enough of them. We decided to have dinner in the restaurant and duly turned up at opening time (8:30pm). It wasn't busy - maybe 20 other people in there, but after thirty minutes of waiting just for someone to ask what drinks we wanted, we walked out and instead requested room service. This was probably quicker but not want we wanted. We would be put off from staying again until reviews indicate that service has improved. It is a real shame because everything else about the hotel is fantastic and breathtaking.

A very nice and relatively comfortable hotel although the lift to the garage wasn't working and we had to use the staff lift.
