Stayed here for a week in September with my husband. Rooms are dated, the lighting along the corridors is very poor and dark. The all night bar needs more staff to cope when the shows finish. The choice of food is not good with a lot of passing n shoving from other guests. On a good note the swimming pools are good plenty of sun loungers no need to get up early and save one. It was a cheap week away and the hotel showed that. Won't be going back anytime soon.
We booked a 10 night holiday with Alpharooms back in October 2016 for a different hotel, for myself my husband and our 8yr old daughter. However we were informed in March 2017 that it was no longer available and were offered this hotel as an alternative. It was advertised as a 5* property and the photos online looked lovely. We have stayed in Lara several times and know the area well, so decided to accept the offer. What a mistake that was!! When we arrived to check in the hotel lobby was very busy, as that is the only area you can get on the free WiFi. Although our booking documents stated that we had been assigned a suite, we were informed that the hotel does not offer any suites, but could offer us a family room which we accepted. We were taken to the lifts, which was the first indication that this hotel was definitely no 5*. As we exited the lift on our floor (5th) we were appalled with the condition of the hallway, the carpets were absolutely disgusting & dirty, walls were dirty, doors had gaps so could see in to the rooms - the list goes on and on. As soon as the room to our family room was opened, I went in to shock. It was the most disgusting, dirty room I have ever seen. The carpets had so many stains, the walls had dirty marks, the toilet brush in the bathroom was so dirty, the curtains didn't close, the fridge didn't have any shelves - and again not 5*. We immediately complained to both Alpharooms & demanded they move us. The guest relations were very unhelpful, but eventually offered us a standard room, which I have to say was better than the family room, but was still disgusting the carpet was thread bare with a huge patch as you walk out to the balcony and made a crunching sound when you walked on it. We ended up having to endure 2 nights stay before we were moved to a fabulous 4* hotel in Belek (Sarp bike hotel), during which time we met so many unhappy guests who were trying to be moved too. One family told us that they had been informed the this hotel had been closed for 2yrs and had only just been opened back up - this could definitely be true due to the state of it. The pool area was nice, but the garden areas needed sorting out - you would not be able to play crazy golf as the grass was too long!! I have lots of photos which I will try to upload, but please do not be fooled by the photos online they are not true to life. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
We arrived back from two weeks in Kervensaray Kundu on Thursday...we thoroughly had the best time ever!!! The staff are helpful, their English isn't the best but you get there in the end! Mustafa Galik from the restaurant was an absolute star, nothing was too much trouble, as soon as our glasses were empty he arrived with a full glass to replace it. He made a fuss of our little boy, he was genuine and wrote us a little note on our last day saying "You are a number one family" he's an asset to Kervensaray Kundu!! Mehmet from the beach restaurant is an excellent member of staff too. Always had a joke and a smile for all of us! Pro's 1. The pool and surrounding areas are extremely well kept and clean 2. The water slides are brilliant and was working every one of our 14 days 10-12 then 2-4. The lifeguards were vigilant but not fun killers...let you go down in trains etc 3. The wave pool is fab & worked every day again 4-4:30...all the pool temperatures were good too. 4. The food was brilliant in the main restaurant for breakfast and dinner and beach restaurant for lunch for the money, the best all-inclusive food we've had, it was varied and fresh! The pancake lady 11:30-3:30 is worth waiting for and such a friendly lady! 5. The drinks were heavy measures and no diluted down stuff...the flimsy plastic glasses could be annoying but the bar staff were pleasant and mostly remembered your drink of choice 6. The beach and especially the jetty were amazing - clean, well kept & just the thing for our hours nap after the wave machine 7. Entertainment shows were brilliant, especially the African show and the live music. The party was a good laugh too & not to mention the late night dancing on the beach! 8. The cleaners were better than average...it was our fault on a couple of occasions they couldn't get in as they did attempt to get in at 9am which for us is a bit early when we're on holiday. When they did clean they fettled it fantastic and we had clean towels in the bathroom. 9. The location is right on the money!! Lara strip is fantastic for a walk out shopping & was directly on the beach! Only 40 min transfer from the airport and a good base to do trips from. 10. The piano bar is 24 hour and proper glasses. 11. No hassle in the hotel wanting you to buy (the spa do try and sell to you but the peeling scrub and massage is truly worth having) Cons 1. Not many English guests. We found the Turkish and German guests to be pleasant and up for fun, however the Russian guests certainly lived up to their greedy, miserable, rude reputation 2. The male announcer at the nightly entertainment, never spoke in English unless you requested him to. 3. Reception don't speak very good English at all...you get there in the end and they do try their best. 4. The rooms are ok. More 3.5 star but clean and as we only used to sleep in ours and spend an hour getting changed for the evening, this didn't present a problem for us! 5. Everyone we spoke to had Mosquito bites so take some spray! We did the white water rafting trip and the Galleon boat trip & are both fantastic and worth doing. Also take a trip to Sandland...excellent value for money but go in the evening as they're all lit up! All in all we thoroughly enjoyed Lara Beach and can't thank Kervensaray Kundu for the it hospitality and giving us a fantastic holiday...we'd love to return
Lets get the negatives out of the way first, the hotel could do with a bit of TLC, looks tired in places. The toilets in the beach bar need to be cleaned more often than they are, quite dirty by the end of the day and the pools need cleaning more often. The only time I saw then being cleaned it went some lovely child took a dump in there, and it did happen a few times during our 2 weeks stay!! We arrived early hours of morning, check in was quick and we were soon in our room. We did send an email requesting a sea/pool view which we did not get, we overlooked the front of the hotel but to be honest we were very happy with the room, the rooms across which had a sea/pool view were half the size of ours. We had 2 separate bedrooms and a balcony that never got the sun, but that was good, kept the room cooler. Black out curtains which really did the trick. Air con was ok, could have been a bit cooler but was ok. Shower was brill, power shower, was showered in no time. Maids cleaned the room daily, always had clean towels, the beds made and the fridge re stocked with soft drinks and water. No pestering around the hotel for tips at all. There was plenty of sunbeds around the pool and the beach, we did not have to get up at crazy o clock to put your towels on which was good. Towels were provided by the hotel from 9am, so could happily go for breakfast, then go and find a sun lounger with no worry. The staff around the hotel are brilliant, we did not come across any of them that were rude, they were all so helpful, even though a lot didn't speak very good English, we always got there in the end! Just a shame that we couldn't say that for a few of the guests, some on the nationalities were quite rude, but we just put our smiley faces on and ignored then, no way were they gonna spoil our holiday! The hotel is not really geared up for English guests, there was just us and one other family from UK which was a shame, but not a fault of the hotel more the company that we booked it through. Food was really good, huge variety to choose from, so if you cant find anything you like you must be one heck of a fussy eater! Yes ok your not gonna get your bacon and egg butty, but remember your in Turkey!! We chose to eat in the beach bar most lunch times where you could get burgers, chips, pasta, flat bread, salad etc. There was a lady cooking Turkish pancakes most afternoons which were really tasty. for dinner we ate in the main restaurant, it was busy but we always found a seat, if not just ask one of the staff, they are always happy to help. The soups were our favourite, 2 different soups each meal time to choose from, then a huge variety of other food, outdoor cooking on the BBQ, fish, meat, then a huge range of food inside too. I ended up with a right concoction on my plate as there was just so much to choose from. They even have a diet corner, which was boiled chicken/fish and boiled rice and veg. 2 nights we tried the A la carte restaurant which is included in the All Inclusive, we preferred the Italian over the Turkish, but they are both worth trying and it was nice to have a meal and be waited on. The food is repetitive after 2 weeks but aren't all All Inclusives. There was also ice creams available in the afternoon, just near the beach bar. Drinks were available all day long. At the beach bar you could get coke, Fanta, sprite, apple, pineapple, orange and blackcurrant juice, Efes lager, red wine (which is served chilled with ice!!) white wine, vodka, no limit to how many drinks you order. At the piano bar (which is open 24 hours) they did cocktails (try a sex on the beach), very strong cocktails and they even had Baileys too. They have a few different pools, our favourite one was the wave pool (even though the waves are only on for 30 minutes each day!) It had a very shallow end and was perfect for sunbathing in when it got too hot to lie on your lounger in the sun. Plus we were right next to the beach and the bar! They had 3 slides (2 weren't working) these are open for 4 hours a day. There is the main pool were the animation team kept people busy with activities during the day, bit too noisy for us there we like it a bit more chilled out and the music is very loud. But whatever you like you have a choice and there's the beach with a pier and sun loungers at the end of the pier too. The animation team were fantastic, they worked so hard all day and night, special thanks to Bilal. They had different shows on at the Ampitheatre each evening and also entertainment at the beach bar until the early hours and if you still hadn't had enough to drink move onto the piano bar for all night drinks! We wanted to go out a couple of night try a local restaurant but there is nothing nearby, the nearest looked to be about 7 miles away. We ventured out of the hotel, where it is just full of shops all selling the same thing, designer clothes, souvenirs, bags, shoes etc. Don't accept their first price, always haggle with them. We got Adidas/Nike t-shirts for 5 Euros. The currency is Turkish Lira but they do use Euros too, in fact most things are marked up in Euros and we found them much easier as we didn't have to convert. Overall we had a fantastic holiday, came home 1 stone heavier and with a cracking tan and lots of memories. We had a camel ride, tried parasailing, Turkish bath and massage and went on the waterfall trip which we really enjoyed. Another special thanks to Mehmet who worked in the SPA/towel station, his English was very good and he was very helpful.
I don't know why there are so many awful reviews for this hotel. We had a very nice time here. We found the staff very polite and welcoming. It is true that there are not many British tourists here, and so entertainment is geared more to the Turkish market. We always found staff who could speak some English. We thought the food was excellent. If you expect chips and fish fingers you will be disappointed. There was a lot of fresh fish and meat dishes which were freshly prepared every evening. An extensive salad bar, cheeses and cold meats and an indoor hot buffet. Lovely cakes and fresh fruit. It did get a little hectic trying to get a table sometimes, not wanting to battle with Russians trying to keep tables for friends, but going early to the restaurant helped this. The pool area was lovely, but we found it a bit too noisy with very loud music playing throughout the day and so went to the beach which was much quieter. The hotel was very clean, lots of effort was made keeping gardens in order. Carpets were cleaned during our stay and our mini bar contents were refilled almost daily. Some guests insisted on taking food to their rooms which made it very difficult for staff to keep on top of the cleaning. Interior decor was not particularly good, hence the three star rating. Our room was a suite as we travelled with a teenage son, but sleeping areas were only separated by a partition which meant there was very little privacy. Paintwork and finishing were 'tired'. Furniture was of a poor quality and the beds were a little over firm. Although carpets were cleaned and hoovered, they needed to be replaced.
This hotel was absolutely substandard. One of the worst hotels I have ever been to. Hotel cleanliness in general was disgusting. Almost as if the hotel has stopped maintenance for a long time. It needs complete and utter renovation. Dirty water, which looked like urine, was emerging out of the tap as I was taking a shower. Definitely would not recommend anyone going to this hotel.
The hotel is not that bad at all especially the pool and restaurants. But the rooms are horrible. Very small old and dirty. Had to ask for clean towels 3 times and the cleaning service was skipped like 5 times. It is not a 4 star hotel but a 2 plus star hotel. Never again. Only Mahmut working as a waiter was very good friendly and kind rest of the staff not special. Thanks to Mahmut for giving as a good feeling about the hotel.
Couldn't believe some of the comments we read before we went. Granted, the rooms could do with updating - having said that our room was clean and the mini-bar was restocked daily with soft drinks. There are a lot of other nationalities at the hotel & some of them are incredibly rude, however you can tell what the hotel staff think by the service they give them!! We got to know a few of the staff quite well and if you are polite and friendly you will notice that your service improves. We also tried (with varying levels of success) to learn some Turkish words/phrases; hello, thank-you, three beers please etc and again the staff really appreciate it. We had Mamhut in the restaurant and although we were a party of 14 he always found us a table he even started to decorate our table & would bring drinks to our table - on our last night he went out of his way to say goodbye to all the kids. In the piano bar we got to know Caner & Hatice and by the second week, if the bar wasn't busy - Caner would bring rounds of drink over without us ordering them!! So anyone who has said that the staff are rude should probably take a look at themselves and how they talk to people. Haggle for everything - water sports, health spa, clothes. There are great deals to be had. Would recommend white water rafting - really fun day out. Would definitely go back - can't see how anyone wouldn't have a great time.......iyi tatiller (enjoy your holiday)
Well we've been back from our first family holiday in Turkey about 2 weeks and can't believe we went to same resort after reading some of the reviews before we went. In a nut shell the hotel was amazing and constantly being cleaned. No need to run for sunbeds as there are plenty and the pools are fantastic including the water slides and the wave pool. The rooms had a well stocked fridge which was refilled everyday, hairdryer and most importantly air con. The staff were soooo friendly we knew them by name (Mahmut and Caner made our holiday). Theres not much to say about the food except YUM. The kids tried everything and weren't disappointed. We have all had an excellent holiday and would happily go back tomorrow. Thanks very much XXXX
Just back from a two week holiday with 3 other families We've had an amazing two weeks. We've enjoyed lovely food entertainment water sports and much more The only thing is that the rooms are a little dated but we were only in them a short while as we were busy outside enjoying the pools and the beach Staff very helpful and every morning we looked forward to our aerobics in the pool which was great fun Iv been water rafting had a Turkish massage and bath been on a banana boat taught belly dancing and danced the night away at the beach bar after watching some fantastic entertainment Would happily go back again
