While the interior of the hotel is non-descript and doesn't have the charm one might like to find in a small German town, I love this place. It is conveniently located in the heart of the old town, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, the ambiance quiet, and the breakfast offerings abundant. I walked here from the train station--a pleasant 15 minute jaunt--and took a taxi back (only 7 euros with tip).
We have stayed in hundreds of hotels big and small over the last few years. This is a very nice hotel. The positives: clean property and room, good water pressure in sink and shower, close to historic area and many restaurants, good sized room, friendly staff, secure bicycle storage in parking garage, quick elevators, fair linens, fair though not great breakfast buffet(some of the rolls didn't taste fresh, breakfast available Monday through Friday @6:30. The negatives: wifi worked poorly and required constant logging on, no air conditioner so ask for room fan (windows open though), overwhelming odor of air freshener in hallways, room carpeting needs cleaning or replacement, room lighting poor. Bottom line: you'll have a good nights sleep at a fair price.
We were part of a Reformation Anniversary tour. The hotel food was excellent. The room was spacious and very clean. As Wittenberg is a small town, the hotel is centrally located. There was an outdoor terrace area off the lobby that was quaint.
The staff was excellent and spoke English well. The room was cozy and perfect - close to all the sights. Ou group stayed there for the Luther 500 festival, The bar is also nce and the meals are excellent -especially breakfast.
We stayed here as part of the Luther 500 celebration, and enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly, and overall the hotel was nice. The rooms were a little sparse, and the pillows on the bed not very comfortable, so can’t give it the best recommendation. Also, we were here during a “heat wave,” with highs in the 80s F. There is no air conditioning in the hotel so it was pretty warm.
Cycling the Elberadweg, we arrived early due to rainy weather. We were turned away immediately by reception and they didn't even try to find us a room that was ready (surely one would be ready an hour before the official start of check in). We were able to leave the bikes and panniers in the underground car park. The hotel caters mainly for visitors interested in the Luther history here and lacks any charm or German-ness. You could be in any mid-range hotel anywhere. Tour groups are an important market - who mostly seem to want the place to be exactly like their home country (reading other reviews). Having said that, there wasn't much wrong in the room or with the breakfast - in fact breakfast was impressive as the hotel seemed full and a conference room was in use as an overflow but the food kept coming, the places were cleared and there was enough staff to keep it all going smoothly. The dining room looked stark and uninviting for dinner but there are lots of choices within a few minutes walk. This is a sort of Best Western or Days Inn or Premier Inn or Flag inn depending on which country you're from. Don't expect charm or character. But it works.
The hotel is charming but there are no safes, no air conditioning and the rooms are rather small. The staff is very nice and the location is great ... minutes from most important sites. There is a nice bar on the premise and the breakfasts were quite good.
This was my first trip to the historic Wittenberg, Germany. And it is a special year with the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The staff, food, price and lodging were wonderful in every way except for the fact we had no AC. They did provide a fan which was a significant help.
We stayed here three nights as part of a tour. It was during the big Martin Luther Wedding festival. EVERYONE in Wittenberg owns a renaissance costume! The hotel is in a very prime location, smack in the medieval part of Wittenberg. Walking distance to all the usual Luther suspects. Expect spartan, but not uncomfortable. The breakfast buffet (included with our tour) had ample selection. It was warm for June, and there is no air conditioning. There weren't enough fans to go around. If you think you want one, ask ASAP. Also, the wifi was less than robust. No laundry service on the weekends. General notes: If you like firm pillows, bring one. Pillows in Germany seem to be of a lackluster feather variety. No amount of folding could keep a crick out of my neck. No washcloths either, but I remembered to bring my own after my Greece experience. Hair conditioner was also not provided with the shampoo at any of hotels at which we stayed.
We came to Wittenberg with a group to visit Martin Luther sites. The hotel is walking distance to the sites and also located near shops, restaurants and other attractions. The hotel is clean and nice, but a major drawback for me was the lack of air conditioning!! The beds were also too firm for my tastes, but I managed. Otherwise the hotel had a good restaurant and bar. The breakfast buffet was good too.
