A family of four, two adults and two older teens we stayed here in a large quad room, (one continental style double bed & two single sofa beds) arranged in such a way it felt more like an apartment (#416). The staff were very friendly and polite. The room was clean & comfortable, with good wifi. There was a small fridge which we used to chill our own drinks. Breakfast had something for all of us, and plenty of it, as did dinner, with meat & fish straight from the grill everyday, or traditional style dishes (or all if you wanted), along with various salads and deserts. The ski lockers in the basement were free with a 10 euro key deposit, easily fitted 3 sets of skis, and only a short walk to the slopes. The spa area, was compact, with the Sauna, Steam & jacuzzi seating four comfortably or six at a push, but at 3 euros each, it wasn't bad at all, and never busy when we went before dinner (6-8ish). We drove from Barcelona (3.5 hours and parked in the multi storey just up the road above a hyper market) We would definitely stay here again.
We stayed in a 4 bed room. Quite spacious. The heating system was good enough. Friendly and attentive staff. We did not have 4 sets of towels but just ask at reception. Dinners with good quality and relative variety. The lockers for the snow material are adequate. The free wi-fi internet is really bad. At breakfast there is only 1 type of bread and they could vary the cereals, at least they should make available the typical cornflakes instead of some more specific. Maybe it needs a refurbishment to modernize.
Hotel Magic entrance is sandwiched between 2 shops but covers 9 floors. On arriving at the hotel where our luggage had been deposited by our tour company Neilson, we then had to try and get 2 large suitcases up the stairs to the reception desk. The reception staff were very polite and helpful. We were given our room key and shown where the lift was yes 1 small lift from the reception to all floors. Our room was fairly large with a view over the front of the hotel. No tea making facilities available in the rooms so have to wait for breakfast for the first cuppa of the day. Breakfast is served from 07.00 to 10.00 buffet style. And it's like a free for all with everybody pushing and shoving to get their breakfast. Evening meal is served from 19.00 to 22.00 and the same help yourself but you get all the small children running around with plateful of food and parents not controlling them there is no organisation. Over the period of 5 days there has been a different fish on the menu every night ( Allright if you like fish). Our rooms are cleaned every day and clean sheets every 3 days, towels are changed on demand if you leave the used ones in the bath for the cleaner. I would have given this hotel 4 stars but i am not overly impressed definitely not 5 stars.
I stayed at this hotel from 14-21 January 2017, having previously stayed at this hotel we made the decision to book here again. We booked with Neilson and went on a half board basis, the rooms were basic but cleaned daily and has everything that you would need for a ski holiday. Each room has its own wifi which is great as the connection is excellent. The reception staff were great and the check in was quick and easy, two lifts to get you up to your rooms, request a higher up room as it can be quite noisy outside at night. The bar is great with a pool table and table football, plenty of tables with sofas to relax on. The beer at the hotel was the cheapest we encountered at €5.60 for two pints. We didn’t use the ski lockers as we stored our skis and boots next to the slope at Pas 83 so we didn’t have to carry them back up to the hotel. This was purely down to laziness and in fact it was probably only a 3-4 minute walk back to the hotel from the slope. Now the downside, the food for us was not good at all, we struggled to find things to eat on a few occasions, unless you can live off pizza and chips all week then you will be fine but the meat that is cooked fresh was sometimes left up to the imagination. We didn’t make it to breakfast so cant really comment on this. If the food improved then we would definitely return to this hotel as it is a great place to stay when skiing.
My wife and I normally stay in a serviced chalet when we go skiing but this year we decided to try a hotel. Having been to Andora previously we wanted this time some where which is quite central and has good apre ski reviews along with the chance to do a bit of duty free shopping. The Magic hotel is central in Pas De La Casa and the resort offers the other requirements but to concentrate on the hotel. We have found the hotel to be very modern and clean offering free wifi. The staff are very friendly and our room is very nice if not basic. The room is cleaned daily with towels changed on demand and sheets every 3 days. The hotel has two lifts which frustratingly always seem to be on other floors and take an age to get to your floor, a real pain after a long days skiing and the stairs are not an option. We booked our holiday via Nielsen which included the hotel. The hotel is use by holiday makers from all over Europe and some from further a field ie Russia etc. It should also be kept in mind that UK school holidays are not the same as other countries, we had a large nuber of kids staying when we were here which if you are looking for a kids free enviroment, then this is not the place. It didnt affect our holiday but we would much prefer not to have kids running around the place when trying to relax or eat your food. I have rated this hotel a 3 star and the reason I have not gobe for a 4 star is not because of the kids but because of the poorly organised, free for all, cattle market which is breakfast and evening meals. The food is well cooked and the variety is not bad although it would be much nicer if it was hot and not just warm. The deserts win the day though, great selection and not a low calorie offering to be seen apart from the odd bit of fruit. The problem lies with once you go in and give your room number, you are show to a table, all good to this point. Then because it is buffet style and everyone else from the hotel is there, is just mayhem, pushing and shoving trying to see and get what you want to eat. Breakfast is the worst, if we were not so keen to get on the slopes it would almost be worth waiting and having a late breakfast. Evening meal is slightly better but I have to think there must be a better way. Overall the hotel is nice and if you can put up with the mayhem at meal times then you wont be too dissapointed.
Very well located for shopping, not very far from the slopes (300 m). Modest toward very modest in terms of room amenities. Internet is a nightmare, do not count on it. Breakfast repetitive, but acceptable. Staff friendly and ready to help. I would not return, but I think it is a decent place.
Stayed here 5 nights. Friendly personnel. Good food in the hotel restaurant. Nice bar area for adults and kids. Billiard and babyfoot to play. The rooms and beds a little bit old but it actually does not matter too much.
This is an average hotel, i would never have guessed it was 4-star. But, to start off with, the staff are really friendly and service minded. The spa area is small, but after a whole day skiing it's really nice to just have a beer and sit in the jacuzzi. Go there around 19:00 bc there's no one there then (closes at 20:00). To the things that are in need of improvement.. wifi.. I can't tell how many swear words I've used trying to access wifi and then leaving my phone 1 minute and I'm logged off again. Seriously. Food - as everyone writes, half board here does not include water or any beverage at dinner. It's not expensive but I wouldn't say cheap either. Coffee in the morning is ridiculous. Long line and coffee doesn't taste anything. Elevators - prime time; just take the stairs. There now flow to whether the elevator is going up or down. Why install 1 elevator that just goes from the second floor? Rooms - really small, two suitcases barely fit open. The cleaning lady also "cleaned away" my conditioner which was kind of annoying. Beds and pillows uncomfortable. Recommendation to the hotel - switch pillows and remove the brown nasty blankets in the rooms. With all this said, we were a great gang having a great week and many of the things stopped annoying us quite fast. ;) It's really close to the lifts and to all after ski places. Try and get the rooms on the top floor!
The place is ok but not great. Rooms basic unless you get family apartment type with separate rooms and living. Location is good though. Spa is basic not fantastic only for max 12 people. Food is basic and not great, had better in Bulgaria !! Not four star so be mindful.
I'm really sorry to give this hotel a rating of "poor". There are a lot of things right with this hotel. The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional, and the fact that everything worked in this old building says a lot about the staff. They really were terrific. The rooms were clean, tastefully appointed, and while not luxurious, they were completely adequate, the beds comfortable, the shower hot, the food good, the jacuzzi fabulous! I would have forgiven them the small elevators, the ridiculously long lines for the two slow and overworked coffee machines in the dining room, and the poor ventilation of our room's shower, but for one thing: The lack of a children's club room meant that the cafeteria\bar was taken over by loud, unruly, and unsupervised small children in the afternoon and late into the evening. Which meant that there was no place for a group of adults (my party) to unwind, play cards, billiards, foosball, have a drink, whatever, without being seriously disturbed by these kids. Maybe it's a sign of the times that young parents are not willing to discipline their generation Y children- I don't know, I'm not a sociologist - but I can definitely say that it ruined my afternoons and evenings. Sure one could go out to a bar, and I did, but they're loud too, and all I wanted to do was chill out in the company of my party and other adults who know how to behave in public, and that was impossible. Don't dismiss this as the rant of some old, cantankerous child-hating codger; it's not the case, and it wouldn't be the point even it was true. Magic Pas should find a separate room for supervised children's activities and prohibit them from entering the bar\cafeteria, which at present is the singular venue for relaxation and entertainment on the premises. Again, it pains me to have to write this....
