I did not stay at this hotel. However, I will tell you why I still have an opinion to share on this property. In January, I had a reservation for two nights in April. This decision was not taken in a rush. We had been planning a trip to Europe for several weeks, trying to make the best of our time and our stays. My boyfriend and I had previously decided that coming back from a long road trip in France, it would be nice to make a stop in Andorra to relax before continuing to Barcelona. With this in mind, we booked this Golden Tulip Andorra hotel. At the time it made perfect sense to us to stay there, in a well located hotel in Andorra la Vella which also had a spa, one of the main reasons we chose this hotel above others in the area. On 18th April we arrived in Andorra as planned and immediately went to check in at Golden Tulip. While in the process of receiving our room cards, we were told by a young woman at the front desk (I think her name is Victoria) that the spa was undergoing some repairs and this meant the pool was not going to be available during our stay. This made us start reconsidering our options. We explained this to the reception girl and she said she could do nothing about it. Since we had hit a wall, we asked to speak to her supervisor. She went to her supervisor who refused to talk to us in person though we could hear her speaking in the background, her words coming from behind a wall. It seemed quite rude and not sympathetic at all. All she tried was to offer a small discount on the parking fee which we did not accept. It is perfectly understandable: hotels must at some point perform some maintenance; what I resent is that they do not give the guest the possibility to cancel if the new arrangement is not convenient. The invisible supervisor made the reception girl tell us that our claim had no grounds for a cancellation. I think it is not up to them to decide that. On top of that, this all happened during a super low season. I left a short letter and a copy of my passport. I do not know what happened to my letter but I have an idea. On top of all this unpleasantness, my boyfriend was in terrible pain and needed some rest. We ended up at the hospital that night, by the way. Some days ago I received an email which read: “The hotel has notified us that you did not arrive at the hotel on the check-in date of your booking” and they were charging the two nights. I have already posted my complaint on Priceline to pursue a refund. Priceline did understand our claim and conceded the refund. Although the money will be refunded, that evening was quite an ordeal for us and I have Golden Tulip to thank for that. A perfect missed opportunity to handle a customer request. I cannot help wondering whether this is standard policy or it is due to some horrible staff members they entertain as supervisors.
We stayed in this hotel for two nights while enjoying the snow. The hotel is conveniently located close to the main street where you can find shops and restaurants of all kinds. The hotel has parking (20€ per day) but with very limited spots, so it is recommended to call the hotel in advance and reserve your spot. Otherwise you are going to have to look for a more expensive car park which will be further away. The man in charge of the parking was very friendly. The lobby has an area where you can get complimentary sweets, cookies, water, infusions, and coffee. The buffet breakfast was very good and with plenty of choices. Now, the reason why I'm giving it only 3 stars is the sleep quality. After a day of driving and skiing, it is essential to have a good sleep and recover for the next day. The bed was very uncomfortable, definitely not 4-star hotel bed. Instead of a double bed, there were two single beds together... And the worst of all, you can't turn off the heating, so even at minimum power and temperature it was very hot inside the room, making it very hard to sleep. Luckily Andorra has so many hotels, so next time we will look for another alternative.
Good double rooms with minibar included and changed everyday(beers, cola, water,Granini juices).Very good and diverse breakfast for only 10 euro pp. Excellent cleaning of all spaces, very kind behaviour of all the staff.Free shuttle to the ski cables, with one day before reservation.Free wireless internet, but poor speed.Very low prices in bar and restaurant. The sauna and litle pool are 7 euro per day and person and have no shower.
First at all I must recognize that I have had a very good offer but this hotel offer a lot for the usual prices. They have some small thing that will always make you happy as free minibar that it is daily refueled, cakes, coffee and tea for free in the lobby, for skiers free shuttle bus to the ski areas. They have a great staff in the bar and restaurant and also in the lobby that is always ready to help you. Great location right in the middle of commercial area. The thing/place that could be improved with a new sauna , showers and relax zone is the spa because for 7Eur they don't offer to much. Conclusion very very good choice.
Amazing few days in Andorra! This hotel is great for couples looking for a relaxing few days away or skiing if they wish with ski lifts from la mad Dana and gran Valera nearby! Good points about the hotel include......cleanliness of the hotel and room , the really helpful staff (xavi at reception in particular), the location (on the main strip and walking distance to caldea spa! Only downsides were the extra payments which included breakfast if you decided to eat at the hotel rather than go out, the parking which is €22 a day on site or €32 for 3 days opposite the hotel in Empark which in all fairness they did recommend and finally we were told we had a king size double bed when really it was 2 single beds pushed together! Overall superb hotel and great value for money! Would recommend to anyone :)
Sat here just before midnight, relaxing after 9 hours of the best drive of my life from Burgos to Andorra without paying for any toll roads. Brilliant country roads, saw Eagles beneath and above me and drove over mountains 1500 metres tall. Arrived in the garage of the hotel and straight into the lift checked in (all in English) all faultless. Room as one would expect and WiFi that works (2 days of The Telegraph to check up on, was it worth it) Too tired to go out for dinner, thought would check in-house. Couple of ice cold beers and feeling human, then on for dinner and not disappointed staff and food and wine met every expectation (wine cost €12 when I am spending £35 in London for same bottle) Get the chance and come here and that's before we go shopping tomorrow it's Duty Free, turn one way France the other Spain what more do you want?
Location is perfect; 2 minutes to main shopping street, 3 minutes to Cladea on foot. Hotel has underground parking.(20 eur per day) Rooms are comfortable, housekeeping doing a good job as rooms are cleaned well. On your arrival only you will find two small water in your mini bar, but its not renewed. Front office staff is very helpfull, even after asking hundreds of questions :) and speak good English. Breakfast is very good. There is a corner in lobbly where they serve complimentary sweets, cookies and coffee. Free wifi works well in the room and lobby. All very good. Reccommended to stay definitely.
The hotel is OK, but I requested a change from 2 double rooms to 1 triple because one person was sick, and my request was not attended. Next time I will try another hotel, expecting more flexibility and answers.
The location is really great, in the centre but not on directly on the shopping street, a few meters away. The staff is one of the best I met anywhere. Aleix, Clara and other were so much helpful and friendly. And the driver of the shuttle who took us to the mountains and back was such a nice and friendly person, he really brightened the beginning of the day. Now in order: 1.The room on tt third floor 317 was rather large and modern with brand new facilities. 2. The view from the window was terrific: mountains at the sunrise and mountains lihjted in night time. It was better than any paintings. 3. Breakfast (buffet) was vet good, plenty meals to choose. 4. The shuttle takes you right from the hotel to the mountain escalators every morning twice at 8.30 and 10 a.m. It is free. On the way back you may use the same shuttle at 4.30 p.m for free or go by bus and pay for tickets. 5. It took us about seven minutes to get to Caldea complex from the hotel. 6. There are lots of pubs, cafés, taverns and restaurants around on any wallet. One minus The noise from the pus nearby spoiled my sleeping. People left it any time at nigh crying and laughing. We had to close to window but it became stuffy. So a few times in the night I was busy with opening and closing the window. It was offensive, to live in a such nice place and have sleeping disorders.
The good: Location, cleanness, staff. The bad: Room was tiny. Smaller than a room in a hotel in Tokyo. Parking was full, so we had to pay EU50 for parking across the street. Wifi in the room was so slow it was unusable and signal was poor. Considering that Andorra has one of the fastest internet connections in Europe, this is rather disappointing.
