Stayed here for three nights in a triple room and it wasn't amazing, but it had what was needed. If you're looking for a luxury room, and you're going to spend more time in the room than just to sleep and wash in then this isn't the hotel for you. The rooms are very simple, a small wardrobe, only one plug, beds, shower, toilet and sink. You have to ask for full shower towels at reception. The beds are very comfortable but it does get hot (it was July) so you'll need the windows open and it's extremely noisy outside. The bathroom is tiny too and it wasn't the cleanest, nobody came to clean our rooms or change bedding, being fresh towels or anything for the whole time we were there. The staff were all very friendly! The location was brilliant, right in the very center of Amsterdam.
We were two students looking for a cheap place to stay in the centre of Amsterdam for a little holiday. The hotel was perfect for what we needed i.e. basic facilities and cheap prices. Personally don't really understand all the bad reviews but perhaps we got lucky with our service. There were two small towels provided, so maybe not big enough for anyone tall or bigger built, but okay for smaller people. Shower curtain, but no soap or shampoo or conditioner. One plug socket so bring an extension or make sure you don't have too much to charge at once. Beds were comfy and the sheets and blankets warm. Decent sized bed, a little narrower than standard single. Reading lights above the beds were very useful and could turn off main light from the bed. Was clean and tidy, no excess dirt or mess. You can borrow the hotel's hairdryer for a 20 euro deposit, which I did and was fully refunded. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. There is daily housekeeping at around 12 (approximate time) when they come knock on your door but if you wish not to be disturbed you can merely say so. They said if we wanted any spare towels or anything then they would provide. We asked for them to take out the bin twice which they said they would do straight away but didn't end up doing for another 2 days. Have to carry luggage up fairly steep stairs yourself, but then again we never asked so perhaps they would help if you did. Location is perfect if you want to save on public transport - we could walk everywhere and enjoy the beautiful sites. Lots of restaurants, shops, etc. nearby. Wifi is 5 euros charge a day in all of the hotel, which is a little steep but may be alright considering the cheap room rates already. Would recommend to anyone who is fine with basic facilities and a short stay, especially young people looking for somewhere cheap and well-placed, or perhaps travelers. Beware of thin walls and noise from outside (since it's in the centre, there may well be noise from drunk people and general cityscape) - bring earplugs if you struggle to sleep with some noise, but windows block out most of it. Was a pleasant and comfortable stay for us!
I have stayed in many Hotels in the past all over the world but I have never experienced a place like this.No soap or towels in the shower/toilet.I had to go and buy a towel and soap from the shops. The room was just big enough for a bed that was not fit for a dog to sleep on there was no view to speak of apart from other peoples rooms who all seemed to be smoking weed with there windows open.No T.V.The room was on the 4th floor and I had to climb 4 flights of near vertical stairs about 80 steps in total to reach the room.Thankfully I was only there 2 nights and on the plus side it was in City Centre and close to Central Station so I could get away quick when I checked out.British prison cells have better facilities for criminals than this so called Hotel.Dont go there folks.......
After reading the reviews we thought it would be ok for a lads holiday, we was wrong as soon as you walk in the smell hits you it felt so unclean we got to our room there was no room there was 4 beds squeezed into a small room there was no wardrobe or draws we had to stack all our suit cases on top of each other the toilet looked like it needed a good clean we bought antibacterial wipes to keep it clean then we only had 2 towels between 4 of us I would not be paid to stay there again worst hotel I have ever been to please go to Amsterdam have a fun great place but this hotel need knocking down we got a taxi and said take us to hotel Shiphole he knew exactly where it was , I would rather sleep on the streets than back here
So the hotel is basic. Beds, towels, ensuite (note there wasn't soap provided but you can buy cheap hand-soap from a little shop round the corner), little table, bin, ashtray and one socket (little annoying but it wasn't an issue). You get what you pay for, yes it's not the nicest but it's cheap, it is right beside loads of coffee shops, bars, little places selling pancakes, waffles, chips, burgers and things with proper restaurants on the other side of the road and you're 5 minutes from central station and canal trips. It's also safe, there's 24 hour reception staff and the door which goes up to rooms has to be unlocked by their button so random people can't just wander in. Additionally you're allowed to smoke in the rooms which is handy as that's one of the reasons people visit Amsterdam lets be honest.
Just come back form a 12 man stag do with age ranges from 29-62, hotel was fine for what we needed, 3 rooms with 4 single beds plus a separate en suite bathroom, beds surprisingly comfy, towels could have done with being a big bigger so possibly take your own, can be noisy but it is a city center location! Staff ok and helpful. 5 minutes from Central station and 5-10 minutes from most attractions, bar right next door called Frisco Inn was good with pleasant staff. It is was it is, reasonable priced bed in the heart of Amsterdam.
Excellent location and alright service, but the rest of the hotel was kind of a put-off. Rooms were a letdown in terms of space and comfort, and it didn't have a very good vibe to it. Not recommended for families, but alright with young crowds.
We booked 3 rooms for my hen do we had previously found it difficult to find a budget hotel that allowed groups so for us this hotel was great. Hotel is very basic but it doesn't advertise itself anything else other than as basic and clean so it does what it says on the tin! Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Hotel is very secure staffed 24hr with secured entry. We also got free wifi code and they supply large towels on request. The location of hotel was fantastic we had activities booked throughout the city and we were within walking distance to them all. There is a storage room to leave luggage in that we used on our last day we also used safe at front desk which was also secure. If going on a budget group trip again we would definitely consider staying again.
The pros Perfect place for smoking in rooms that's one of the reasons you go to Amsterdam right. It's impossible to find a 2 or even 3 star hotel that will allow smoking another plus is a great location right in the middle of the coffee shops and red light windows The cons and there is a lot of cons Dirty old rooms Dirty beds Dirty small bathrooms Long and winding stairs if your a drunk or alcoholic do not stay here you will fall down and break you back The rooms smell from mildew when you first walk in Only one wall outlet This place needs to be rebuilt from the ground up The staff was very and that was a surprise This was my first and last time staying here You get what you pay for
Stayed with a friend for 3 nights in February and paid around £20 per night each so great value for money. Perfect location, walking distance to most places. Staff were friendly and gave us free wifi. Showers had hot water. There was no heating so the nights were quite cold. I've seen reviews complaining about waking up with bites but we didn't experience this. Our room was quite high up which was quite annoying. Overall, the hotel was great value for money and I would recommend to anyone who wants to visit the city on a budget but still wants a great location.
