We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights with our 16 and 20 year old children. The hotel is absolutely superb and we couldn't fault it. We did make the trip down into Amalfi itself for our dinners each evening as the restaurant food seemed expensive in comparison to that available elsewhere but this just added to the holiday. The hotels position looking over Amalfi is the perfect location. You get the calm and tranquIlity of the hotel together with the bustle of Amalfi whenever you want to dip into it. We did tours of Pompeii and a boat trip to Capri whilst we were there as well. The parking was pricey but when you see how little parking is available on the entire coastline it seemed reasonable and so convenient for the hotel.
We have just had a fairytale wedding at this beautiful hotel, the rooms are incredible, the views stunning and service is impeccable. Special thanks to Roberta for organising every fine detail for our wedding reception and to Diego for a delivering 5 star service and seamlessly managing all the timings for our courses around the speeches four our spectacular wedding meal. We had 35 guests who all thougt the food was extraordinary. Our wedding cake was both a delight to look at and eat. Grand Hotel Convento Di Amalfi delivered the wedding of our dreams, thanks to all the team from Andrew & Sara Walker
After being on a choir tour across Italy with less than posh accommodations, we were ecstatic to stay in this exquisite hotel for 5 nights along the spectacular Amalfi Coastal area. What a luxury to look out our window onto the beautiful bay and see the many faces of Amalfi, a charming, delightful town and bay. The room was very comfy with a great bed and well-equipped, clean bathroom. The services at the valet stand and the restaurant were excellent. We dined at the restaurant two evenings and we were very pleased with the superb food choices and outstanding service. I hesitate to mention names because everyone was customer service focused, but Diego and the manager, Davide, were excellent. We had breakfast included and it was by far the best buffet of any town throughout Italy, with the exception of Venice and Rome. It was comparable to the 5 star hotels we stayed in. The valet service provided transportation from the hotel to Amalfi even if we missed the scheduled trip. One must recognize that this is a structure built on a sheer cliff and renovated from a structure that was built in the 13th Century. Well-worth the price for a once in a lifetime experience!
What a beautiful place! The hotel staff, without exception, went out of their way to make our stay memorable. All were professional and friendly - without being cloying. A stunning location and sympathetically converted from a convent to a hotel - respectful of its heritage.
This was our last stop on a tour of the Amalfi coast where we planned to relax in luxury after a busy week touring. Initial impressions were great, the porters stopped the traffic and parked our car immediately and soon got our luggage upstairs ready for check in. As we were early our room was not ready but we were given welcome drinks and the option of using the hotel facilities which we took full advantage of by swimming in the glorious infinity pool. The location of the hotel is perfect - up high on the hillside with great views and only a short walk from the town or you can catch the free shuttle bus which runs every hour. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and well maintained, it’s a nice touch that they kept some of the original monastery architecture in place. Staff were also wonderful, so friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much of a problem. So why did this hotel fall short for me? For the price I paid I expected to be wowed and despite booking a superior room I felt I had walked into a £50 a night Travel Lodge. It was clean and the bathroom was nice but we were basically squashed into a tiny box room. There wasn’t a balcony or full length doors to open and admire the view, everything was white like a hospital and there was nothing of luxury in the room, very disappointing! I found the parking at €25 a night very expensive as was the breakfast charge although the breakfast was very good. Lastly watch out for the young pool boy trying to accost you into taking a boat trip with his friend - he is obviously on commission for this and he didn’t want to take no for an answer!
In May 2017 I stayed here with my family. It is so beautiful. The hotel is very modern but has kept the parts of the ruins of the convent and the old chapel . The setting over the Mediterranean with the lovely gardens and an infinity pool was spectacular. The service was great. The rooms were not large but very comfortable. One of the best hotels I've stayed at and I would definitely go back.
After a few days at our hotel we decided to do a pasta class. Claudio taught us more than we had expected with much encouragement we made ravioli, cannoli & tortellini. Come experience the amazing views & cuisine made even more memorable by the professional staff. Will come back soon, thank you
This is a very good hotel - minimalist but elegant. The fact it was at one time a nunnery makes it even more interesting. It is perched half way up the hill affords amazing views of the harbour and beyond. It has a lift which take you down to the town a few minutes away. They do provide a transportation into town - minutes away so you do not need to walk - unless you want to. It is ideally placed for the town and its restaurants. The staff were helpful. If is important to request an ocean view room. The best bit: cocktails on the terrace overlooking the ocean. If there is an any criticism it is the breakfast - very boring and unimaginative. Because of the location and view, we definitely would return. were any note of
My family recently spent 6 nights at the NH Collection Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi and it was one of the best experiences we ever had as a Family. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the views of the Amalfi Coast are second to none. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. Infinity pool overlooking the Amalfi Coast was incredible! The staff where extremely friendly and accommodating, going out of their way to make sure our experience was exceptional. We feel like we made new friends with many of the staff and a special thanks to Marco, Vincenzo and Dario for making our experience at the pool fantastic. Special thanks to Francesca and Sara for their great suggestions for Trattoria's to attend for dinner and for getting us great reservations. Thank you to Gaetano who greeted us with open arms and always checked in on us to make sure everything was as anticipated. A very special thanks to all of the great wait staff especially my friends Roberto, Kristian, Davide and Diego. Roberto makes the best Lemon Spritzer in Italy! We cant wait to go back!
We have just returned from a lovely few days spent at this wonderful hotel celebrating our 25th anniversary. As soon as we arrived the staff could not be more attentive or do enough for us. This carried on throughout our stay and I can honestly say we received the best customer service we have ever had. We were contacted before our arrival by Flavia from Customer relations and she advised us that our stay fell over the celebration of St Andrew the Apostle and Amalfi would be very busy. So she kindly pre booked some restaurants for us. Our hotel room was on the fourth floor with views over the ocean from the bedroom and the bathroom. The bathroom is quite small and includes a bidet and the bedroom is light, breezy and air conditioned with coffee making facilities and water and of course a mini bar if required. Not only does the hotel have the best view ever over Almalfi, but it has so much character and is surrounded by bougainvillea and lemon trees. We discovered some steps near the entrance to the hotel which took us straight into the small town of Amalfi which is rather touristy and of course you can choose to walk back or there is a free shuttle bus back to the hotel. A special mention to the front desk staff especially Sarah and Francesca who went above and beyond looking after us. When we arrived at the hotel and our room was not ready, we were taken to the spa so that we could shower and change and then relax whilst they looked after our luggage until the room was available. This is not a resort but an elegant, quiet hotel with a small pool and some rather basic beds for those choosing to relax near the pool. It is expensive but in my opinion so worth it for a special occasion. I really would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay at an NH hotel again.
