Hotel Santa Lucia4.0 out of 5.0

The Santa Lucia is a traditional Italian family run hotel. It is well positioned for visiting the various well known towns of the Amalfi Coast. We had a lovely room at the back of the hotel overlooking the Roman Villa from our large balcony. The room was clean and comfortable. A small shower room with clean, fluffy towels and plenty of hot water for the shower. The only slight drawback was the menu on offer some evenings. The breakfast was adequate and typical for the region.
Clean hotel, lovely staff and amazing food!!! They even managed to make me happy!! I’m a fussy vegetarian and I had something different and delicious every evening. Lovely sandy beach minutes away and close to the town centre. And dog friendly!!!! Amazing!!!!!!!!
Spent 7 nights at the St Lucia. Beautiful, family run hotel in Minori. Location quiet but we didn't mind this. Short walks to the bus stop with good regular links to Amalfi and surrounding areas. Short walk to the small but lovely beach and to catch the boat to Amalfi. Hotel spotlessly clean and our room was lovely. Plenty of information available on the bus and boat services. Quiet room although did have one evening when ? Other guests were outside taking until gone 11pm. When we arrived we was welcomed and shown to our room. Dissapointed that it was €1 a day for the safe and €2.50 to have a cup of tea or coffee in the room. We didn't bother! Now to the food - very very dissapointed to say the least. Breakfast is self service which is fine. Choice is limited and the bread rolls are as hard as rocks and obviously recycled for later at dinner when they was on your table. Scrambled egg and bacon only hot option. We had neither as they looked so unappealing! Flies a problem and often cakes, pastries and the breads are exposed. Coffee machine provides choice but would be nice to have drinks served to your table. You have to choose your evening meal at breakfast. At times we felt pressured to choose. Difficult to decide what you want to eat 12 hours in advance in my opinion. Wouldn't mind if the food we chosen was beautifully cooked and tasty! Poor choices and very disappointing to be served such poorly cooked meals in Italy! Salvador apologised when we left out meals on two occasions and even offered the alternative but one starter made us both feel ill it put us off the rest of the meal. Partner vomited after the hamburger tasted very sour it literally made him feel sick to the point he did!Very small portions for the main meal. Desserts either home made cake ( had it once and it was hard so not again) fruit or ice cream. Fruit was either 2 slices of melon or a bowel with an Apple, satsumas, kiwi and pears. On the 2 occasions we chose this the fruit was old and bruised. Ice cream nice but 3 tiny scoops. Starter example - homemade pasta with lemon oil.......what we got was pasta filled with ? Ricotta and very sweet thick lemon cream. Disgusting and it was left! Last breakfast we saw the older lady who runs the hotel check the bread rolls and asked they be replaced as clearly they was stale! We felt food was being recycled to use up with being the end of the season. We wasn't on our own in our dissapointment. Another couple and two ladies also very dissapointed. Our first time to Italy. Beautiful Amalfi coast and we enjoyed all that we did and experienced. We would return to St Lucia but only if we could go bed and breakfast. We spent a lot of money the last 4 days ensuring we had good decent meals at lunchtime whilst out. We seriously dreaded what we would be served. We can honestly say not one meal was classed as nice and enjoyed. Such a shame :-( The staff are nice and the family who own the hotel very nice. Salvador good but at times comes across as being abrupt to staff. We felt uncomfortable at times as clearly they were having words! On a positive the rose wine we had was lovely. We have said this hotel is very good based on the beautiful and clean hotel with good service from the staff. However if scoring on the food we would say very poor. Sorry! Thomson have been informed. Finally I do have to say that whilst at the St Lucia it was my 40th birthday. My partner had informed the hotel before we arrived. On my birthday after my main we was told there would be a 5 minute wait for our dessert. A few minutes later the owner dimmed the lights and a beautiful cake was brought out with a 40 candle lit and a sparkle type candle. Guests then sung to me. Beautiful touch which I really appreciated and was thankful for. However when the candles went out Salvador promptly went on to say that reception staff would finish the cake and he cut a slice for us both. The cake was lovely but replaced our dessert choices! It initially seemed a lovely gesture but oddly we was made to eat it and be told it would be finished by hotel staff. Fine by me but found it odd. €3 for bottled water which is in local shops at less than €1 There is a note saying you will be charged if you replace the mini bar. Harsh! Bar drinks more expensive than a lovely local bar we found. Thank you to the hotel owners and staff. Beautiful hotel but sadly our stay was negatively impacted on due to the dire food : -( Kath and Andy
Read previous comments prior to booking. Had a very clean and comfy room at back of the hotel next door to the lift which we actually didn't hear. Staff pleasant and helpful, especially in th dining room! Rooms extremely clean, plenty of hot water, clean towels and sheets changed regularly. Tea and coffee making in the room but you had to pay €2.50 for that.!!!! Also a mini bar. We used neither . Free use of safe though and Internet.Rooms very quiete except for our last night when the guests above seemed to be up all night. Not the fault of hotel. Food very good, plenty of choice from buffet breakfast including a hot option which was always bacon and scrambled eggs. You chose your evening meal in the morning, again a choice of three for starter, mains and pud. Salvatore always about if you needed advice!! A nice selection of local wine too. Hotel very handy for all the attractions of the amalfi coast, by local bus or water taxi. Town itself was not a busy resort which suited us fine. There were small shops mostly around the sea front. Highly recommend.
Stayed here for 3 nights in late October. Hotel staff are great and the cleaners are superb. We had a superior room, overlooking the Roman Villa at the rear. Very comfortable (if you like a firm bed) and scrupulously clean with all usual amenities. If I was to be critical, the tea/coffee provided in the room is a bit sparse - for example we couldn't both have a cup of regular tea at the same time because they tended to put out just one of everything (though I am sure they would have addressed this had we asked). Breakfast buffet was plentiful but the dinner menu wasn't really to our taste - lots of fish (understandable on the coast) but no basic options like steak - that said, lots of people ate there each night! Wifi was free, parking is limited but secure - cost €18 per day - not cheap but better than on street parking. Would definitely stay here again.
Same room, same time for 2 weeks each year and never disappointed. This family run hotel goes from strength to strength. The new chef has made eating the favoured option. Every member of staff contributes to one's comfort. Minori is the pick of the Amalfi Coast and Hotel Santa Lucia is the pick of the towns hotels.
Our second visit to this charming, truly authentic Italian Hotel. A genuine family run hotel beautifully decorated and clean. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff. Excellent food and perfect location, a few minutes walk from the beach, ferries to other quaint towns on the Amalfi coast and the centre of the small town.
Just arrived back from a week in the Hotel Santa Lucia Minori. I have very mixed reviews. The hotel is on the very busy noisy main road with lots of exhaust coming from vehicles, so not good. The other side of the hotel is much quieter, my room had a view of apartments with lots of washing hanging out, but also a mountain to look at. The church bell chimes on the hour and half hour from 7a.m. To midnight. If the patio doors or shutters are open it’s noisy. My air condition unit had a couple of problems, but was seen to twice and eventually fixed, and it was very efficient. The room was good although did miss a bedside table for clock etc., it was kept very clean so thank you to the cleaning staff. All the floors are tiled and the bathroom was very good. The food on the whole was good, but never saw any fresh green vegetables whilst there, so be warned. The staff I dealt with were o.k. But could do with a lot more customer service training. The dining room staff were o.k. But the head waiter I’m afraid was very brusque and he just strutted around whilst the two waiters did the work. To sum up, the hotel position was good for bars, beach, buses, ferry boats, and some places of interest, pottery studio and hand made lemoncello shop. The down side was the amount of road traffic noise and fumes and lack of customer service from the staff.
We spent a week at this lovely hotel. Gorgeous room at the rear overlooking the Roman Villa. Staff were very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast had a good choice to suit all, we also ate in the restaurant which was exceptionally good. Perfect location a few minutes walk to the beach and right in the heart of the town. We'll definitely be going back !
Both my partner and I visited hotel santa lucia for one week, this was our first time in the almafi coast and we will definitely be back to this hotel. The place is truly charming and really authentic from the amazing staff to the beautiful decor of the hotel. We were made to feel at home and even got our room upgraded to the back of the hotel with a large terrace facing an ancient roman villa ruin. The hotel was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and had an overall Italian charm, we were very sad to leave. The staff made myself and partner feel so welcome it was like being part of the family. We fell in love with the lady of the hotel concettina and her sons and daughters who made our holiday outstanding. It is a truly run family hotel. We even received a lovely ceramic tile from the owners of a picture of minori as a souvenir to take home. We are so touched with the kindness and outstanding service we received from everyone. We cannot thank you all enough. The staff at the hotel restaurant were the best in Italy, they where funny and charming and always went the extra mile, a big shout out to Salvatore, Vittorio and Marco for your amazing service you made our dining experience the best we have ever had! From your wine expertise to your charming humour we will defiantly be back to see you all next year. The food at this hotel is outstanding, we have ate in Michelin star restaurants and nothing compares to the food here, it is fresh and full of flavour! The best food in Italy. And a different choice every night along with fine wine. Overall this hotel is amazing and a true Italian charm and we cannot wait to return. We arrived as guests and left as friends, we wish you a lovely Irish blessing and keep doing what you all do best. Lots and lots of love from Martin and Natalie
