This is the second year we have been to L’Aigle and we will probably book for next year too. The location is excellent, the staff very helpful and friendly and the rooms small but very comfortable. The food is good and they are happy for you to eat in or out and will help you find good local restaurants. The bar area is modern and very comfortable. The ski hire shop and boot room staff are great to deal with on the bottom floor and you walk out about 50 yards to the main meeting area for ski lessons etc It all works very well indeed.
First of Val-d’Isère is a fantastic ski resort and this hotel is right at the heart of the town so it is very easy to get straight onto the slopes and also wander along the main street. But avoid the first and second floors particularly on the corner opposite the squaw valley hotel: it is very noisy with the garbage trucks and delivery trucks waking you up with their reversing horns at 4am to 6am most mornings. The half board is ok; breakfast is very good, but the evening menu is very limited with only the soup and one main changing each night. The service is ok, particularly from Jean, he’s one of the few who smile. The bar is ok, but not a lot of atmosphere and certainly not a great selection of beers. So, a good hotel, very expensive (but what isn’t in this resort); would definitely investigate other hotels nearby as well before deciding where to stay next time.
My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at the hotel L'Aigle des Neiges. The staff were very welcoming and sought to be helpful at every opportunity. The front desk, the ski shop and the housekeeping were all outstanding. When there was a broken hairdryer in the room it was replaced in minutes. We did not eat in the restaurants however the breakfast staff always tried to make an effort during the busy rush in the morning. Oh, I forgot to mention the location is perfect for getting to the slopes, just out the back door and the ski shop made it easy by meeting you at the top of the stairs to help with the skis at the end of the day. We highly recommend this hotel ! We look forward to returning next year!
Where to start! Reception staff always helpful. Restaurant is wonderful from absolutely delicious food ,breakfast and dinner and serving staff which were beyond exceptional . Nothing was too much trouble . We loved the spa, excellent facilities , beautifully clean and delightful staff. The ski shop was equally fabulous . I have never been to a place before where someone is waiting to help you at the door at the end of the day . The ski hire was brilliant with great advice and my boots were warm and more importantly totally dry every morning. Our room was very comfortable with snow report and sweeties every night. Not that extra calories were needed! There is very easy access to the slopes and with snow this year I skied into the hotel!
One of the best , if not the best hotel in Val d'isere. Everyone is so friendly and helpful from the guys at the ski shop who go out of their way to help you find the best type of skis for your level, to everyone at the front desk who always greet you with a smile, to the staff at breakfast who try to accommodate your breakfast preferences. This hotel is a couple of steps from the slopes and surrounded by many great restaurants. We will definitely be coming back!!
We recently stayed at this hotel for my husbands thirtieth birthday. There was 16 of us and two babies. The staff were incredible. Beyond incredible. They gave us kosher meat on request, high chairs for babies, baby toiletries and teddies in our room. Sorted babysitters and cots. Nothing was too big an ask. They created special meals for my little niece who is 8 months old and learning to eat. The table was decorated beautifully for my husbands birthday and all dietary requirements were met with such ease. Our waitress was one of the nicest and most accommodating people I have ever met. This hotel made our holiday. Wow!
Great value compared to most other upmarket hotels in the resort. About 20 steps from putting on your skis, this hotel is ideally located. Service is great and food really good too. Nice terrace area, good room, excellent bar. We will be back!
We stayed as a family with 2 kids under 9 in 2 adjoining rooms. It is very difficult to find any fault with everything at the hotel. The rooms are lovely, the meals in Restaurant Paul and Restaurant Pier were excellent, the ski storage facility in the basement was brilliant and everything is carried out by super friendly staff. We were so close to the slopes, we could actually ski to the door, albeit 50 yards down a little lane. The torchlit descent down Bellevarde from our room was spectacular! If you are looking for a magical unforgettable holiday, I would highly recommend this hotel. We’ll definitely be back.
Top location; ski-in, walk everywhere. Fantastic staff. Fantastic! Rooms... nicely done up but showing age. Walls are a bit thin. Restaurants and bar better than average. Spa is nicer and better than I expected. Ski room/storage was a mess during our [very busy] week: very strange operation compared to any other hotel I’ve visited. It’s a great hotel for families; probably not the greatest for a romantic escape. I will absolutely consider returning. The hotel does seem to cater primarily to a British clientele. You’ll find baked beans for breakfast (in addition to the usual buffet), and english is the operating language throughout.
This was a great hotel to stay at for a ski trip. Particularly loved the pool which was relaxing and warm. Staff were very helpful with information on the area and anything we required. Sadly the restaurant was always fully booked so we couldn’t eat there which was a shame. I also found the room sometimes cold and could feel the cold coming through the walls from outside. On the other hand I would stay again as the location is fantastic and the hotel has really cool decor.
