Independent access to the property is via an arched doorway where full height glass windows enhance the bright and airy ambience throughout the open plan living space. The immaculately presented bedrooms are on the first floor, and both enjoy the convenience of en-suite shower facilities. Exposed beams in the master bedroom add to the character, and to the rear of the property there is a spacious enclosed garden, perfect for dining alfresco and where children and pets can play.



Longhoughton is only 4 miles east of the historic market town of Alnwick, where there is a wide array of amenities including a cinema/playhouse, restaurants, independent shops and a variety of pubs. Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts) is a popular visitor attraction, or visit the Alnwick Gardens, a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including a grand cascade waterfall and poison garden where guests can dine in the restaurant of the largest tree house in Europe.

This is a lovely cottage at the rear of the owners residence.

This is a lovely cottage at the rear of the owners residence. There's a wood burner downstairs with plenty of fuel and central heating to the main rooms, the en-suite bathrooms have heated towel rails and under floor heating. There is a welcome information pack under the coffee table with instructions for all the appliances. Although there are no washing machine or tumble dryer the owners are willing to dry any wet walking gear.It was a good job that we had taken provisions with us because there was only tea bags and coffee sachets in the cupboard.There is a small Co-op nearby and several supermarkets in Alnwick, about 10 minutes drive away. There's a well sign-posted pub serving food in the next village but it doesn't allow dogs inside. There are several pubs further away that are dog friendly.There's a really good bakery just down the road with cheese-cake to die for! There is access to an almost deserted beach nearby and Alnmouth is a short drive away with miles of beautiful, clean beaches and rocky outcrops and scrubby grass. There's loads of drift wood for any gardeners or flower arrangers who may be interested.We had a really good time visiting all the local National Trust properties nearby but they are expensive if you aren't a member. It's also expensive to go into Alnwick castle and gardens, dogs are not allowed in either.

Clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Owners very helpful if need which we didn’t. Really enjoyed our relaxing week. Would hope to return.
