Mercure Vichy Thermalia4.0 out of 5.0

95 degrees F and no air conditioning. the hotel manager says it does not operate optimally at 95! Wifi also out, he blamed it on the internet provider (no backup plan) and the carpet is stained when you exit the 6th floor elevator. I am 30+ years in real estate asset management NYC all classes and now teach International Real Estate Management in Paris in the Masters program at two grand ecoles. The manager and the regional director of Accor should be fired and banned from the industry. What a ignoramus the hotel manager is to tell me the air conditioning does not operate optimally when it is hot! About the carpet, let me tell you, no matter what the type of real estate, I always tell people that you can tell how well a place is maintained if you look down. If the floor is not maintained, neither is the rest of the place. A hotel should have several hundred yards of spare carpet in storage and whenever carpet is torn or permanently stained the piece is cut out and replaced. Should I also mention that one of the two elevators was stuck on the 6th floor! Accor sinks to a new low with this place and I must seriously question my fidelity to this lackluster brand.
Location is best feature, People are nice but food and room are average. Food is OK and wine selection is limited. Unfortunately one has to climb into a fairly high bathtub to take a shower. Door to the patio opens.
We were assured that air conditioning in the room would be functional. It was not,we were given a fan but this is not the same. When oh when will they do what they say? Otherwise another acceptable stay.
We had been to Vichy before this was our fourth visit but this as the first time we had used the Mercure. Antonio made us very welcome and reassured me about the car parking arrangements, we could have used the underground facility but we were assured it wasn't necessary, as we had been to Vichy before we took he word (we was proved to be right). Two things, loved the quality of the television and the shower, but alas we didn't use them both at the same time. Sleep quality was superb and plenty of room to relax. There appeared to be minimal staff on duty but somehow service was very swift but comfortable. However I must say that the Hotel and the town appear to cater for a 50+ age group which is a shame. We were walking around town at 18:00 on a Sunday evening and the shops were still open, this is not only unusual in France, but where in the UK does this happen? Another good point about the Mercure Hotel is that you can get an evening meal on a Sunday, at another hotel in Vichy about five years ago we were reprimanded for just looking at the menu!!! Vichy does have its "History" but its saviour must be it still has many wonderful buildings, a park (with bandstand) and then there are the Spa's, it is actually a lively town. Though, I imagine the "Vichy Water" is an acquired taste, I opened a bottle from the fridge during the night and thought the cleaners had left some of their materials behind!!! This was just an overnight stop, we timed our journey to get there mid afternoon, we had gone out of our way a bit but it was worthwhile revisiting a favourite place that doesn't disappoint.
we stayed ten days in this hotel, the room was really small, look really old, the staff was good and friendly, we ask for slippers and bathrobe as it was not in the room as standart but they gave it to us anyway. The best part is the breakfast, very nice choice and very tasty. We had a few room service meal, but the food there is not the strong point, limited choice, the cheese plate is more than ridiculous with two piece of cheese about 50g, for 6 euro, the restaurant menu is also very poor. We asked for pasta with tomato sauce they couldn't make it. I tried pasta carbonara but it was more like a plate of glue. The club sandwich is too soft and tastless. As I am a chef and working in a five stars hotel for a long time I was really disapointed with this hotel it is a four star hotel and knowing accor reputation I was hoping for better standart.
Stayed for just one night on business. Was impressed with quick check in process, room key already prepared so took less than a minute. Parts of the hotel feel a little tired however room is ok with a decent bed, some pillow options and a good shower. Lacking a desk in the room however so not easy to work from. Had dinner in the hotel restaurant which was good and breakfast which was also good, more European in nature with lots of breads, pastries, cheese etc. Parking is available out the front of the hotel
This is a mercure hotel run by staff who have a clear mission to provide great service with a smile. the hotel is well located, easy to find, good (but not free) car parking. Rooms are clean and well maintained.
This is now one of our all time favourite hotels. Fantastic location, and the rooms a wonderful, with excellent en-suite facilities, and a great breakfast. My only very small criticism is I'd prefer China cups and saucers in the room for tea and coffee, rather than the paper cups with which we were supplied.
My husband & I & our daughter & her boyfriend stayed at this lovely hotel from 24-31.08.16 as they were taking part in Ironman Vichy - the run part of the race came right by the hotel. Having the swimming pool was a bonus although the first night we jumped in was a bit of a shock as the water was very warm - they did cool it off a bit during the course of the week as the weather was so hot. Breakfast was included in our deal & was very good - hot & cold items too many to list. We had no problem with our room which overlooked the swimming pool & was on the 6th floor. The bed was comfy. The aircon in the bedroom was used everyday as the weather was very hot. There was a little fridge to put drinks in & there was a free bottle of Vichy water in it on arrival (an acquired taste !) The athletes staying at the hotel could have a free bottle anytime. Hairdryer was small but powerful & plenty of sockets great position of one next to a full length mirror. Separate toilet. Bathroom had a large overhead shower with a detachable one too. In my opinion what let the bathroom down was toiletries - there was shower gel in the shower & a little bar of soap for the hand basin- it would have been nice to have shampoo / conditioner & body lotion. There were plenty of towels & if you needed any for the pool, the maid would give you extra. We had several meals in the hotel which were very nice & well presented- Sylvie was a treasure & Sebastian was very helpful too. You can chose either a secure car park at the front of the hotel or the underground one beneath the hotel. 8 euros a day or we had a deal of 21 euros for the week. Overall we enjoyed our stay here, in a very good location too.
Mercure Hotel – (Vichy, France) – Vichy is a nice town to use as a respite from hordes of tourists. It has parks, a river walkway, trees, shops, and no museums or tourists. The Mercure Hotel is one of few with parking, although their lot is open to anyone who needs to park in Vichy and is very expensive on top of your hotel bill. It is a traditional hotel with decent rooms, a restaurant, a spa, and a lift. The A/C did not work, but we could open the window. The hotel was clean and the staff spoke passable English.
