RiKu HOTEL Memmingen Hallhof3.5 out of 5.0

Big and spacious area, unique building and the make use of the space of the roof, Low ceiling but overall is ok the building is nice and cosy and they have a small bar to chill out at the night. Just opposite the hotel there is a small supermarket and also shopping mall.
The Riku Hallhof is presumably cleared with three stars due to the presence or absence of certain features. When it comes to a 3-star hotel, it probably does not get much better than this hotel: rooms are clean and modern; bathroom functional and also new. Staff is friendly. Location is incredibly central in the middle of this little medieval city. Breakfast is plentiful and solid. Tip: use the garage they recommend and pay only EUR 4 each time you leave the garage with your car. Yes, you got that right: if you leave your car in the garage for the entirety of your stay, you only pay EUR 4. What a bargain.
I slept in this hotel one night only. The hotel is very quiet and nearest the city enter. Walking for 5 minutes you can arrive to bus station and railway station. The breakfast was ok. The room was very silencious
I've stayed here one night, on Christmas eve. One of the few hotels in Memmingen with late check in for that specific day. The restaurant was not available in the evening, but the hosts informed us. Decent, clean rooms, very good location, a little pricey but all in all a good experience.
We booked a night at the RiKu Hotel as we had an early flight home the next day. It is an attractive historic building in the centre of the city. It has been modernised in the last 2-3 years, we were told. The reception staff were friendly and helpful when we arrived in the afternoon - gave us maps, and also on the morning of departure - they arranged for us to be booked on the early taxi-bus service. To use the lift to the upper floors, you have to go out of the building and round the back - I think because of the difficulty of modernising an old building. Our bedroom was a reasonable size, but a little too modern decoration for our taste - it was not comfy, but utilitarian. Also, given the small window (in the eaves), the brown and black decor and furniture made the room a bit dark. Our daughter loved that her bed was in a separate little room with its own TV! Nice modern bathroom with a walk in shower. The breakfast was excellent - tasty German rolls from a local baker. We would definitely stay here again - much cheaper than another central hotel we stayed at a few years ago. There was an attractive bar area on the ground floor with seating and TV and newspaper/ magazines, which we didn't use.
Visited Memmingen for 4 yearly Wallenstein Festival from 24th July to 1st August. Did not sleep first night due to hot second floor room (built in 'roof' section of the building rather than within the masonry walls) with low ceiling and inadequate ventilation. Asked at reception the following morning if any rooms had air conditioning as I would happily pay for upgrade. Told no. Asked if they could provide us with a fan at least, to keep the air in the room moving. Told no. next day bought a fan and wife got a couple of nights' sleep. I however did not. On the Friday we were at breakfast and heard a couple checking out, complaining their room had no ventilation and was far too hot. They did not appear to receive any sort of response from the staff. On the Monday we checked out, we were asked if we had had a nice stay and I recounted all of the above, plus commented that there was also a pretty unpleasant sewage smell which came through the overflow of our en-suite wash basin, which their staff must be aware of. I received no apology, explaination or acknowledgement of my complaint and at the end of the check-out process was asked if I had been for the festival, which I said we had. The receptionist then ventured that she hoped she would see us again in 4 years. Everything I had described seemed to have gone right past her. Next time I will stay at the White Horse in Memmingen where some friends had stayed and described a great stay (with air con!). I would warn people to stay clear of the Riku, at least in summer when this area is constantly hot and humid and air con, or at least some decent size windows and a higher ceiling, are absolutely essential! On a separate note, the hotel's 'free wifi' was a nightmare to operate and very poor - shutting me out frequently, requiring an overly complex pog in procedure to be gone through again and again.
We stayed for 9 days during the Wallenstein Festival. the hotel was excellent, very clean and located in the centre of the town, so great for getting about. The staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We paid extra for breakfasts which was a buffet style consisting of cereal, eggs, fruit, cheese, meat, jam, fresh bread/buns, juices and tea/coffee. All of which was beautiful. Our room was a good size with regular changes of bedding and towels. The shower was excellent. I would have liked a kettle in the room but it was a minor inconvenience.
After a late check in we were greeted friendly by a hard working receptionist. After check in we had a few quick drinks in the bar before the receptionist called it a night. The rooms are very well equiped with perfect bedding and a really perfect shower. Breakfast was complete and of good quality, costing only 6 Euro's. We will be back!
"+"Friendly staff, good location (quiet neighbourhood yet central), wifi, heating. "-"Too pricey for such a hotel in a small town. If you check in after 20:00 or later and want to eat, you need to go to the other RiKu Hotel (though situated not far away)
Nice and clean hotel directly in the center of Memmingen. The location is great for doing trips in the area. The rooms are basically equipped but contain everything for a convenient stay. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast is OK. Issue is mainly that hotel is above a " SPIEL " parlour for gambling and, at least in the summer the guests stand outside to smoke and chat and the rooms are not airconditioned, so that is quite loud. Parking is not free in this area and in front of the hotel limited to two hours for charge, but tye do have parking facilities via there other hotel, nearby they told us.
