Good location with nice view. If you’re coming for rest and relaxation, you’ll do well to be the last one to go to bed in the whole hotel. Rooms are not sound proof and noise from guests walking down stairs, hallways and entering their rooms can be heard clearly in our suite. (Room 201) We were disappointed with the breakfast. Our expectations for a good breakfast after reading other reviews were dashed when we went down to the breakfast room in the morning. The highlights of the hotel are the friendly staff and the spa area. We were offered a special discounted rate for our room but we felt like we were treated as second class guests when our suite had chains blocking off a part of the balcony which had a damaged safety glass. Overall a mildly disappointing experience.
Good coffee and hot chocolate, but the cakes are to die for. Good keen prices and good location. Good on a cold day by the lake. Family orientated and nice and warm inside. The Raspberry cake was the best option.
We stayed in Hopfensee in order to be near the castles but not right in Fuessen or Schwangau. Hopfensee was a good choice in early September. The traffic in Fuessen was bad so we were glad we chose a quieter area. I hate to imagine what high season looks like. The hotel is quite nice. The front desk staff were very helpful. They explained how the Parkschein process works for the public parking spaces. You only have to reset the time on the plaque between 9am and 6pm. The bed was quite comfortable. They had just gotten new mattresses recently. The bathroom was a pretty good size and the shower larger than some we had seen. The motion sensor turns on the fan but only for a minute, which does not clear out the steam very well. The LED on the hair dryer made for a nice little night light. There were only 2 English channels on the TV, but several Italian ones. We had quite a good amount of storage space as well as 3 chairs and a sofa, a desk and a narrow table. Quite a large room for a reasonable rate; about 150 euros a night. There were several restaurants within walking distance, in addition to the hotel's restaurant. The breakfast was substantial and if you are lucky you can get a table by the window overlooking the lake across the street. We did not use the spa. The hotel sits on the main road around the lake, so parking can be a problem. This road is a bus route, so if you can figure out the routes you might be able to get to Fuessen and the castles without having to drive. If you drive to the castles, you pretty much have to go through Fuessen unless you take a long way around. Be prepared for stopped traffic both in Fuessen and as you approach the castles.
When we arrive we immediately were taken by the fact that it is overlooking the lake & mountains. The staff were very accommodating. Our bedroom provided everything we needed for our 1 night stay tho it would have been better to have a view of the lake. That said you only have to step out of the hotel to be able to walk a path beside it. It also has undercover parking behind the hotel if you are with a car. Our evening meal was good in restaurant overlooking the lake.
We only stayed here for one night and I would have liked to have stayed for longer. Our room was large, with a large comfortable bed and a balcony where we could sit and take in the wonderful views of the lake just across the road. We paid an extra 10 euro to have our car in their secure car park rather than leave it on the road. Each member of staff we met were very friendly and helpful. We did not realise that the hotel had a spa which was free of charge to use, but we soon took advantage of it after having spent hours travelling, much appreciated. Our evening meal was good and so was breakfast. I really liked the fact that even though the hotel had a bar (which we did use) they also had a vending machine which not only sold snacks but also sold bottles of wine, fantastic, I think a few hotels that we have used could benefit from these without a doubt. On check out we were given a bottle of water each which was a simple but very kind gesture, again the only hotel to do so on our 3 week 11 hotel journey across Europe. I recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again, for longer next time though.
We found this on booking.com and it's a gem to which I will return. Classic alpine kerb appeal in the traditional style the hotel sits on the lakeside in the small village of Hopfensee, which offers plenty of free parking nearby. Great facilities, nice rooms, friendly staff and superb food. We took the half board offer at €35 pp and found it to be excellent value. Locally there's cycle tracks with bikes to hire and the lake offers canoe and boat hire and of course swimming.
The hotel is well positioned and we had a nice big room overlooking the lake with a balcony. The bathroom was food with a nice spa bath but the water pressure is a bit low in the shower. Breakfast is very good with a nice selection including freshly squeezed orange juice. We had a poor experience in the restaurant with very slow service, waiting nearly two hours for our main courses. After complaining the staff did refund the cost of the bottle of wine we had drunk whilst waiting and offered complimentary liqueurs.
We unfortunately only visited for one night on our holiday. We would have loved to stay another night. The room was excellent, staff very friendly, breakfast also excellent, and to top it all an excellent location. We had dinner in the restaurant next to the hotel - same owner. Very good.
When arriving at the hotel on the banks of the Hopfensee we already knew that this was going to be a nice stay. We could reserve a parking space at the back for € 10 per 24 hours and this is a good spot to keep your car out of the sun and out of sight. We had a room on the top floor with a roof window and as it was quite hot we had the room open during the night. Not too much noise though. Beds were not so good and this was a bit disappointing. For the rest nothing to complain: good breakfast, nice seating, terrace in front with lake view, possibility to rent bicycles for € 14 per day which was good, also a restaurant in the hotel and another restaurant in the building nextdoor (Riviera) with Italian food and great pizzas and ice cream (and a bit cheaper too). Friendly hotel staff and free parking in front (only one must reset change the parking sign every 4 hours during the day). Hopfensee offers plenty of sightseeing and this hotel is a great place to start exploring the region: by foot, by bike or by car.
Stayed here for a couple nights on our honeymoon. great view of the lake with the mountains in the background. the staff was very attentive, and spoke english very well, thankfully for us. was very helpful with recommendations and directions as well. room was nice and clean. great place to stay if visiting the castles in the Fussen, Germany area, without staying in the super tourist area.
