Everything promised came with a friendly smile. All of Alice Springs amenities were at our doorstep but there's scant Vegetarian fodder though you'll still get a feed. Access to all the tourist spots so the Diplomat is a great place from which to form your base.
Clean rooms, polite and helpful staff, very good central location. The pub attached “Uncles Tavern” provides consistently reliable food. This hotel could improve with new mattresses on the beds as ours dipped in the middle and our air conditioning dropped water.
Stayed overnight enroute to a camping trip to Darwin. Accommodation was conveniently located and easy to walk to collect supplies. Allocated room was quiet and clean and tidy. The tavern cook eventually provided a gluten free meal after offering a steak with “you can have tomato sauce”... Seriously??I had to plead to be offered a suitable steak sauce in replacement of a gravy. Honestly it shouldn’t be this hard to get a GF meal in Australia. The cook and facility management need to be more considerate of dietary requirements. The attitude I received when speaking with the cook was appalling. Accommodation 4/5, meal at the tavern 2/5.
It is good and worth the price.Rooms were serviced every day and everything was very clean.Free parking, town centre is just few steps away. There is a good bar downstairs (but it was not noisy at all). Can only recommend this place
We had two stays at the Diplomat Alice Springs, a total of three nights. Both the rooms we had where quite large, the beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms had been recently renovated (not sure though if this is the case for all rooms). I noticed that other reviewers had issues with noise. Being next to a pub, and on one of the main streets in Alice Springs, I can see that this is a potential issue. We also were initially concerned, especially there was loud music being played from the balcony in aid of the "Summernats 2017 Car Parade". Having said this, the music was turned off at a very reasonable time, and we had a good and restful sleep that night. If noise is a concern for you, just ask for a quiet room. Should we come back to The Alice, we will also return to the Diplomat.
Absolutely ridiculous, Bar open downstairs till 1am, no warning on booking, no warning on website, no warning on Check in, just stuck with the room directly above the Bar that stays open till 1am with music blasting and glass doors that are insufficient to cut down the noise. What a total joke!!! If you're going to put rooms above a Bar that's fine, but guests should expect to be able to close their door and have the noise cut out. DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU DON'T VALUE YOUR SLEEP!!!
As per the price you pay, it is worth it. Free parking, good rooms great standards of service Good environment, Closeby the shopping centres Even free wifi as well Restaurant on site Thanks diplomat for your great service
Never again . Basic rooms . Not really clean. Noisy till very late. Me and my husband have been in alice before so we knew what we could have find. We choosed this hotel because it seemed well protected. Well, we were wrong. People (not guest) walking around checking for something to steal. I ve told to the reception boy ( the tall one) about this situation, and he just said "this is alice springs " . Go figure. Very professional isn't it. This happened the first night we arrived . The second night we were out for dinner and then we had a few drinks. When we got back, the front gate was locked and no one was attending the reception so we had to call the number few times before someone actually answered and came out to open us the gate , all this process took around 15 minutes (unacceptable). The day after we decided to ask at the reception if we could have ordered some food to take in the room, again same guy but different attitude, when we got at the reception he was busy picking his nose .after this dusgusting view. We decided to go eat our dinner somewhere else, if the guy at the front is picking his nose careless of people who can see him i dont wanna even imagine what happens in the kitchen. Bad experience and disappointing for the service we travelled australia for 2 months and never had such bad setvice before . Too bad it was our last place before to go back in France.
Good rooms, great staff and very central to Alice Springs. Saturdays and Sundays exceptional bargains in Uncles Bar ($5 beers and burgers), so it is well worth a stop. Some rooms have been upgraded and these are excellent. Overall a good place to stay
This is superbly located within walking distance from the Todd Mall and the shopping centre. Plenty of alternate eating places within cooee and comfortable setting. We will be back again the next time we pass through.
