We love this hotel and have been 5 years in a row. This year, just a short stay for 3 nights. We are big fans, but what has happened to the evening buffet at the Level? It used to be amazing and I never complain about food, but wow, that buffet has gone downhill! We were so disappointed. The meat is suddenly cheap, full of fat and tough to cut. The salads are kind of more basic. It used to be that I had trouble deciding what to eat because it all looked so nice, but this year, I had trouble filling my plate because it didn't! I had to fill it with tomotoes and onions. The choice seems reduced, just feels like general cost cutting. I'm sure they know what they've changed - please change it back! Breakfast and lunch were good, just not evening. So many other things are improved, the all inclusive is great, the bar by the larger pool is great, it's almost perfect but just as you reached perfection - that buffet which used to be great is now not. It's enough to make us not return... please say you'll put it back to how it was! One other thing, we've never seen people reserving sunbeds here before. This is something which really set this hotel apart from others. But this time, we did see people reserving beds and then heading off to breakfast - not to return for hours. There was a time the towels would have been rolled back up and the bed lost - but this seems to have stopped, which is a shame.
This was our 4th visit to the level and each time we have left happy. We visited the level first in 2011 and has been a place we always love. Staff are always on hand to be helpful. My wife is pregnant and the staff were always helping to make it a nice experience for her as well, offering to make nonalcoholic cocktails and coping with her many food requirements. It's a great place to go to if you just want to get away from it all and just relax. Would definitely like to come back, but will have to find a babysitter for a week 😀
We stayed here in 2015 and it was faultless. Unfortunately, this time, there are a few niggles that in my opinion you shouldn't happen in a 5☆ hotel. It wouldn't be our choice to go 'all inclusive'. Let's start with the positive...... beautiful hotel, gorgeous surroundings and pool area,, lovely room (we stayed in a junior suite) with everything you would expect (robes, toiletries etc). Most of the staff were brilliant and overall the service was good during the day but less so at night. Now for the niggles...... they have made it incredibly difficult to get a drink other than soft drinks and wine, particularly in the evenings. The bar by the hotel reception closed and you had to go to the terrace bar or to the pool bar which are out of the way of the main part. The 'spirit ban' included the a la carte restaurant. I don't drink wine and the waiting staff were quite embarrassed when I asked for a G&T. At one point I was going to go to the bar in the square and get it myself, but the staff eventually relented. I see from other reviews that we are not alone in this complaint. The food in the buffet was nice, but we have had the same standard in a 3☆. The breakfast was the best. We travelled with another couple and their shower came off the wall. It took 2 days to mend it. The cupboard to our mini bar was broken (minor I know, but it's the little touches that make 5☆) The turn down service was between 6pm and 8pm when most people are in their rooms getting ready for the evening. Please Melia, people have an expectation of 5☆ and that is not generally a bog standard 'all inclusive service'. Lose the all inclusive and go back to a board basis. Don't get defensive in your responses, listen to your customers and bring back The Level experience.
Melia Villaitana is a mediterranean village by itself, surrounded by 2 golf courses and enjoying quiet and beautiful surroundings. The Level is a must for those who are looking to personlized service and beautiful views from very spacious and well equipped room. Several swimming pools, diversified breakfast buffet and restaurants, friendly and skilled staff...a great place where to enjoy Costa Blanca and to relax.
Positive about this hotel, it was 15 minutes taxi ride from the awful town of Benidorm so it was extremely quiet. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Nice views, abundance of swimming pools. The few staff at this hotel were very nice. It was extremely short staffed. Could not get a drink from the numerous bars as they weren't manned. We had a junior suite which I had to clean before I could unpack and put my clothes away. There was a patio area but this was filthy and needed a coat of paint. No bathrobes, no turndown service and no tea or coffee facilities in the room. Would not stay at this hotel again and it has put me off staying in a melia hotel ever again. It definitely was not worth the money and should be ranked 3*!!
This is not a review of a past stay, but a comment on a new booking. Two things first - we are Melia gold rewards members (we like Melia hotels!) and we love this hotel and go every year. Why the one star then? Simple - we want half board, but this year the hotel is "all inclusive" only. This means that, as we are not heavy drinkers, we are paying a fortune for a lunch we don't want. To add insult to injury, Melia are giving us 20€ a night to spend as we booked through their website. What are we supposed to spend it on if we are staying "all inclusive"?, unless of course all inclusive is not really "all inclusive". We are really annoyed about all this and are looking for alternatives and may end up cancelling this year's bookings.
The Place was magnificent, and by far the best hotel in the whole area. We (a family of two adults and one child) upgraded to the best suite and had a fabulous view over the sea, the whole golf course, the city skyline of Benidorm and the resort facilties, pool area and so on.
Stayed in September 2016. Arrived 10am and our room wasn't available that's OK and expected. We wasn't offered another room to use so we could change into our swim wear we had to change into our swim wear in the luggage room while the porter held the door closed. Nice for my wife, not. Reception staff explained all about the resort including the various restaurants offerings but they don't open all the time or all week so pointless. It all sounds very great but its do not. We made a few restaurant bookings and after going to the Italian one on the very first night well over dressed as others looked like they had just fell off the beach for the day we left after 10 minutes, absolutely dreadful didn't even finish our drinks. Staff are so dis-interested in you. This is how the waiting staff part went - Sit, want drink, buffet over there, bye. So five star.... It's a buffet style arrangements I can only like to Pizza Hut on a Saturday afternoon, full of kids ( on an adult only holiday) sadly I have to say it was completely rubbish. Flys sitting on food awful. It was like a time when your kids have friends over and you give them a plate of pasta and some pizza put the TV on and say watch that be good. We cancelled all other bookings and eat out every night in the various restaurants in town. You can see my reports on here they were excellent. We had breakfast and lunch in the level restaurant which was very good, plenty of choice but I feel could be a lot better with a little more thought and effort. The level restaurant staff definitely favour the Spanish guest with interaction and service. We had to ask many times for coffee in the morning when Spanish guests were offered it upon seating. Indigo Restaurant was poplar but again a waste of time, staff are rude (especially Pablo) and the lunch is average and the tasting night is frankly a waste of time we were in and out in less than an hour. Again staff don't show much interest just hand the food clear it hand more and so on snd addo on. Not a nice atmosphere. The restaurant outside the hotel are better with better service and friendly staff. Top pool area is OK. Metal sun loungers cooking in the sun all day sitting on (muddy) grass with a reasonably heated pool. Not 5 star. Bali beds are 30 euros a day but not used. The metal sun loungers need to be replaced these get ridiculously hot and burn your arms. The Level lounge is poor some soft drinks offered during a limited time 11am to 10pm I think but not a place to sit and enjoy together, more like a train station waiting room. The evening level bar on the roof top is just as unwelcoming like an open air train station waiting room with back ground music and super slow service. It's not full board including everything it's a restricted list ie wine and water. Soft drinks in the level lounge. We were in room 511 with a big round lounge but after 2pm the sun disppears from the rear balcony over looking the golf course. We asked to move to the best room 607 upstairs ( Pent House 140 euros extra a night ) but this wasn't free so we moved to the Presidential suite 715 at an extra cost of 180 euros a night more than the grand suite of room 511. I viewed various rooms 711 Pent House and Royal Suites but these were not as good as the 607 Pent House. The lower pool beds were on concrete not grass which was great but no bar on lower pool area, it has one but is being used to store chairs and no waiter service and the pool is ice cold. So we decided to find a room with a sunny terrace and sun bath there with the TV music channel and mini bar at hand. Room 715 has a roof terrace really big ( too big) with sun from 6am to 8pm in August so perfect. It's at the front over looking the entertainment which is loud until 11pm but hey you can watch this too from your room. Room 715 was very nice, much too big with a lot of wasted space but severed the purpose of privacy ,all day sun bathing, music and drinks on hand. Whilst the hotel in level offers adults only it seems to want to integrate much of the normal family part of the hotel together which defeats the purpose of booking a adults only break. The evening entertainment out the front of the hotel in the square is all together with loads of kids, poor slow waiter service sitting on plastic garden furniture. Emmmm Some of the restaurant offerings are again in the family hotel so full of screaming noisy kids. Mexican Restaurant which we booked and cancelled looked equally as poor as the Italian. This hotel isn't 5 star isn't adult only but could be excellent if they thought about it and made some much needed changes. I have been to many 5 star hotels because we are holiday snobs, we pay a lot of money for our holidays so we expect to get certain things features and levels of services. Having stayed at Grand Melia Red Level in Tenerife many times I'm afraid many other places we have visited just don't match up and are so so far away from the excellence of Grand Melia Palacio de Isora - Red Level. It would have cost us an extra £ 1,000 to go back to Red Level on top of the cost of here and it would have been worth every penny. We upgraded the room at 180 euros a night and eat out so in fact we spent the extra £1,000 anyway but we would have had another brilliant holiday had we just hover back to Red Level for the sixth time. I cannot recommend Red Level enough they so have everything right. Since returning I have sent an email to Melia Head Office and got no reply so glad I wasted an hour detailing my thoughts to them. The hotel have replied but they might as well sent a blank piece of paper, the reply was a waste of my five minutes reading it. The management don't care, they simply said come back and waste more money on our over rated poor service hotel again some time. You will notice lots of bad reviews and the same we are sorry reply. The WiFi is rubbish as well, various parts don't get cleaned properly or regularly enough so yes I agree the same dirt is there for days. I'm a Gold Melia Rewards client who has spent thousands with Melia and they clearly don't give a monkeys. Such a shame because it was a short flight away, looks grest in the pictures and we could have visited a few times a year. Just have to keep searching for another Red Level. If any one reads this and can honestly recommend a very good 5 star hotel regardless of cost or location please let me know because they are like unicorns. You can find much better elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return, another lost client well done Melia. Melia are offering a high end service like " The Level " across their chain but sadly the service just isn't the same standard from one hotel to the next so you book once thinking your going to get this super "Level service" but it's so not. This is the 5th Level service hotel I have been to with Melia and I wouldn't return to any of them. Red Level Tenerife is the only one so far. I am booked into The Level Barcelona Siarra in a few weeks this is also 5 star let's see if this one is any good watch this space.
Stayed at this resort September 20-23, 2016. It is a beautiful facility with good staff. The pools are gorgeous. The breakfasts given buffet style are very good. The rooms are a good size, and well maintained by the housekeeping staff. Bellmen are very helpful too. Now, for the absurdities: 1) Phone worked in room first night at least with giving a dial tone. Operator never would pick up, so it was a useless piece of communication equipment. 2) Phone did not work after the first night, period. 3) Keys which are magnetized suddenly stopped working and hotel advised that the problem would be fixed the next day. 3) Internet access is a nightmare. Hotel guide in room advises that Internet is available hotel-wide. It is not. I never had access in the room. I discussed the issue with the main desk, who advised there is no Internet in the rooms! (Total BS as other colleagues had it, who were staying in rooms near the hotel's reception area). The hotel next put a router in my room, which resulted in my being able to receive E-mails with a "fair" connection but no ability to send any. Their network is awful. To access the Internet, I had to go to the square near the hotel's reception area and use an outdoor restaurant table where I had good reception, which was a very long walk from Room 8702 where I stayed. Totally ridiculous, for a resort hosting a lawyers' convention of about 800 people. And, my frustration was not unique; many of my colleagues suffered the same problem. Turning to a plus, there is parking underground. The signs advise 10.5 Euros a day. Reception very nicely validated the parking ticket to exit the garage and the property, without charge. So, being fair, overall I had an okay experience, but with the technical problems I encountered, the resort is not worth more than four stars.
