After two years nothing changed. Still one of the best hotels in Altea. Interesting breakfast (can meet cycling teams that are not yet competing, but in 3 years they will)- Excellent service, price / quality good. Nearby the Peatge, what else you need ( Oh yeah, no y¡traffic jams direction Altea. Highly recommended...
Just finishing our 2 day stay here with family. Booked a deluxe room with a jacuzzi on balcony which my girls loved. Deluxe rooms have access to the Miramar restaurant for breakfast which is a lovely way to start the day sat outside, away from the hustle and bustle of the main breakfast buffet. Fantastic omelettes, scrambled eggs washed down with freshly squeezed orange juice and a cappuccino. Special thanks to Melchior who looked after us there! Parking underground 11€ a day or free outside Pools are great, and first place I've been where the "no reserving sun beds" is enforced and towels being removed. Don't leave your towel out even for an hour at lunch, it will be removed (as I watch and type now!!) Lunch of calamari, paella etc fantastic in poolside restaurant Palapa- book at lunch as extremely busy !! Drinks decent value 3.6€ a wine, 1.3€ water, 8€ cocktails Only negative for us was evening meals.. we were on HB eating at buffet restaurant first night, nice choice of starters.. fresh prawns, crab and meats etc .. but mains less inspiring - would be more atmospheric if you could eat outside Second night we ate at Palapa, which funny enough was empty and food wasn't a patch on the lunch time menu Crowd seemed to be mainly Spanish, no many British. All in all great hotel and would defo come back again
We stayed at the Gadea Apartments which are set in the same complex, not the hotel itself, and really loved it. On New Year's Day we took the family for breakfast in the hotel and had a table overlooking the sea. We found it really upmarket, the service was top class, and food excellent. There was everything you could wish for served on the buffet or to order. Will definitely return.
This hotel is really cool they have a swimming pool with a bar and there's a spa the breakfast was great and the dinner. This is the best hotel I've been in amazing effort it is a bit next to the airport
This is a local Hotel - once part of the Meliá Group but doesn't have the same level of service as the Meliá Group. Grounds and Rooms are well kept and clean but bar prices and restaurant (especially the Japanese in the hotel) are expensive and more than equalled in quality and service by others in the area. Nice Beach front location and easy access to Motorway - shops and the town of Altea and Altea la Vella are within 2 kms. There is also a Spa at the hotel for an extra cost.
Booked this hotel based on positive online reviews. I wasn't disappointed either, it's a very good hotel. Room was on 2nd floor with balcony and sea view as booked. Good size and freshly cleaned. Restaurant is a buffet affair. Was ok, good selection and plenty of room. Staff busy but efficient since you serve yourself. Upstairs is a Japanese Sushi Restaurant. Very under utilised - looked almost empty most nights. Hotel has 3 nice size pools. Plenty of kids around pool area and that annoying practice of 'holding' deck chairs at the pool by throwing towels on them was prevalent. It's like a ritualistic fear for some people who feel the need to secure deckchairs for the day even though they only use them for an hour or so. Pool staff did try to dissuade by removing towels from deckchairs that had been unused for couple of hours to enable other guests use them. Problem with this is that when original occupier returns to claim the deckchair hours later they want to know why your in their place. Anyway, deck chair hogging aside, hotel is nice and location is good if you like a more toned down, quieter Spanish resort. Positives; Clean, rooms are good sized, no boom boom nightclubs. Suitable for mature patrons. Lots of Spanish guests which I think is good indicator. Opportunities to improve: Japanese Restaurant upstairs is out of place for this hotel. Could do with a second choice Restaurant to break monotony of the buffet Restaurant. Recommendation: Leave the kids at home - enjoy the break. Get a room with balcony and sea view. You'll use it to avoid the battle for deckchairs pool side. Or better still, walk 5 minutes to beach to sit seaside in peace. In the evenings ~ Try one of the fish eateries literally minutes walk from the hotel on the seashore. Lovely. Worth a visit - might be nicer off peak.
The hotel is placed beautifully in front of the ocean and with a room on the 3rd floor you have great views of the ocean, the pools and resort. The room is okay, not outstanding or spectacular just okay. The internet don’t work at all or partly work. The most guests, I assume, have breakfast included in the stay which is a challenge when you don’t have enough seats or square meters to place the guests. The noise level at Restaurant Veranda (where you eat your breakfast) was terrible and is in no way relaxing. The buffet is as any other hotel buffet, take into consideration that you will stand in line also waiting on re-filling. The Palapa restaurant in the evening was a very nice experience, not to many guests, it was possible to be seated under open heaven. The food was delicious and the service was good. The Palapa restaurant at lunch was as we visited another place. The service was lacking, the place was now converted to a cafeteria / canteen atmosphere with noise and very poor acoustic, the food was terrible, the appetiser and main course was served at the same time and even though we made it clear repeatedly we still received fries instead of roasted potatoes (you are able to ”choose” between the two types of side order). We paid €75,- for an exclusive sunbed (one day) since there was no available sunbeds, which, if you ask me, is a little overpriced. The Sushi restaurant Kitsume was were nice, very good service, okay Sushi not outstanding or spectacular. The staff at the hotel was kind and accommodating. All in all, a nice hotel where, as all other parts of the Plastic coast, is room for improvement!
We have come here for the third year running and we may well come back next year. The hotel is a good family hotel with great pools and not too busy around the pool area. Our main problem with this hotel is the food. We always stay full board for convenience, but the food lacks variety to such an extent that by the third or fourth day you are crying out for something different. 80% of the food at lunch and dinner is identical and the other 20% varies so little you would barely notice. The quality of the food itself is ok but it doesn't matter how good it is because if you have the same every day you will soon get fed up. In my opinion it's just not good enough for a 5 star hotel!
Came home last night after a 4 night/5 day stay at Villa Gadea. Firstly the negatives, it's quite a trek 1hr 45 mins from Murcia airport, I like a quick transfer. Our luggage was sent to another room, which caused a 3 hour panic(but we were given complimentary cava and chocolate), and the hotel really needs a general snack bar that isn't over priced. Ok the rest is all positive, great location for views, you can see the mountains and sea all around you. The rooms were lovely, clean, and you get a jacuzzi bath! You can always get a sun lounger and for the start of the summer holidays it didn't feel packed. Enjoy the beach front cafes, a lot of fresh fish, meats etc.. Altea is lovely but I really enjoyed Calpe, it had a wonderful buzz about it. Lots of shops. Sun, sea cocktails and amazing olives what more could you want! 🤗🤗🤗
Arrival ok, room very hot, not preecooled 32 degrees, we sweat, we have to shower. Breakfast: we ask where, we get reasked which room number instead of informing me that there are two one here one there and then I can go " where I belong to with my room number " get the feeling there are two classes.... Breakfast normal, ok the lady at the corner who makes eggs, fine, but normal. Coffee is on self service at automat. When we go out there is a queue for getting in. Swimming pool: there is a guy taking the towels from the sun beds without telling clients: I hear around me people going into argues about it. I had a business dinner yesterday and want only to relax a bit before I leave, but not possible due to shouting people because of the towels. My hammock is not working so not easy to get it right into place. I ask a guy with " SOS " in the back, he answers while he keeps on taking towels away and get info: some have to be repaired , brakes are not working. No relaxing possible with those sun beds. Get the impression as the hotel is fully booked anyhow now in summer that the clients are not treated for " hopefully they come back" it's more : " ok doesn't matter we won't see him again". Can't do nothing against this feeling. Payed 280€ for this night, won't come back I fear. Sorry. No good price - quality level. Have room number 3320.
