We stayed at this hotel having booked it from the UK. We were very disappointed that the booking had been made as all inclusive but when we got there were told it was room only. As a result we had to pay for everything and it was costly! We were on the first floor so could not get a really nice view. The show of the hotel looks unusual and this is attractive, it is to mimic the icon of the town, the Ifach rock i think and so we thought we would get a good view. The hotel had entertainment in the wvning which was rubbish. Not very good at all. There was nothing for our boys to do ages 10 and 11 so I would not recommend it for kids at all. The room had ants the first day but after being cleaned and sprayed these were no longer a problem. Proximity to the beach is fab, fist a 3-4 minute walk. Not even sure why I'm giving it 3 it's maybe because I'm being generous and the location.

i am amazed at the complaint !!t hotel with excellent food !lamb shanks, liver and onion to name two !! loads of fruit, pasta and salad ! Those who moan must eat extremely well at home or just enjoy being difficult!, the Saga rep Suzanne was the best one I have encountered after many years of travelling with Saga 1 I will definitely return !! all the staff were friendly and helped make it a very enjoyable holiday

Our third visit and positives are still the excellent location, short walk to beachfront, not far to harbour and if you are reasonably active walkable to town. Friendly staff. The hotel rooms are either overlooking the salt lake and the mountains with sun in the afternoon or on the other side the Bay and the Penon with sun in the morning. We prefer the former although the pool and outside bar area are on this side and even though we were on the top floor (15) we were bothered on a couple of evenings until 1 am by loud behaviour from some guests. The hotel will try and accommodate your wishes as to room location if you put in a request. We spent one week in room 1505 before a leak developed in the ceiling (no rain so not sure what it was). While we were out we were allocated room 1507 so had to move everything. Fortunately we are capable of doing this ourselves, although it would have been nice to have been offered assistance. 1505 had balcony door issues. The glass freely moves in the frame and the frames rattle in the wind. Both sides open but only one has a handle. Wifi could only be obtained if you stood by the room door. The wardrobe doors were sticking. 1507 also had balcony door issues and I resorted to squashing paper in various places which helped. Smaller, older TV but wifi good in this room. No seal on the shower screen so you had to make sure to angle the head towards the wall. Ant invasion which I dealt with using mosquito repellant. To cap it all, on departure morning we had no water to wash with or use the toilet. Apparently this affected several floors. While we were there they were putting new signage up in the corridors and I couldn't help thinking the money would be better spent on sorting out the balcony doors as we also had a problem on a previous visit on the 13th floor. I am not a fan of the changes they have made to the bar area. Too clinical, reminded me of a hospital canteen. We were travelling with Saga and made a lifestyle choice not to go all inclusive. However, this meant that we were not provided with water on the table at dinner. I thought Spanish tap water could be trusted now but, unlike in England where even a dog is offered a bowl of water, this doesn't appear to be the case and you are charged 2.50 Euros. Suggest you buy from the supermarket at a fifth of the price and fill up before you go. Food was adequate and we always found something to eat but sometimes the hot selections were bland and sometimes tepid. There are many return guests, particularly with Saga, so the hotel has an ambiance that is attracting them but for me I will go elsewhere in the future.

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Hotel SH IFach in Calpe. The first week of our stay was as part of Saga Walking Holiday. We stayed for a second week to explore the area. We were very pleasantly surprised by this hotel and especially by the tasty meals. We were on an All Inclusive package which allowed us to benefit from lunch, dinner, reasonable red, white or rose wine at meals times and a good range of drinks in the bar. Although we only ate lunch in the hotel on three occasions, we felt that the deal still represented good value. A good range of dishes was offered at meal times including salads, vegetables and a selection of pasta, rich, fish and meat dishes. Usually both a meat and fish dish were cooked to order and these were real favourites. We had a comfortable room on the 13th floor. This gave us a superb view but did mean that we were dependant on the lift which could be frustrating at busy times. Wi fi was good and both it and a room safe were free. The hotel is light and bright and kept beautifully clean. The staff are friendly and efficient and seemed keen to make our stay enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed our walking week which took us to some beautiful areas, was well led and was a chance to mix with a great group of people. We hadn't stayed in Calpe before and are unlikely to return. The resort appears to have been on a building frenzy with the most hideous and extremely tall hotels and apartment blocks springing up everywhere. We felt that all charm had been lost. Transport was also a difficulty. Although a train runs through to Alicante and all stops between, the station is well outside the tourist area and the local buses to the station are not timed to coincide with the trains. Some simple adjustment could make so much difference. Taxi ranks are not plentiful and taxis are not cheap. As the train service to Denia is being upgraded at present, there is a substitute bus which operates from the station and provides an adequate service. If you like this resort or are not likely to bothered by the hideous buildings, I would recommend this hotel

Update on the food. We found everything apart from the sautéed vegetables is piping hot. Great choice from the buffet and freshly cooked fish and meat dishes cooked to order at lunch and dinner. Nice hotel with quiet spacious rooms and private balconies with afternoon/ evening sun for those rooms overlooking the pool and morning sun on the other side. We booked the Saga walking holiday which was great. Great Saga guides and friendly and approachable Saga rep in the hotel.

I am first time here in Calpe 4 night €659 Not good price Advertised As 4 starts hotel better to down grade to 3 stars Complementary No coffee no hot drink or water in room. Even 2 stars uk hotel still have refreshment better than hotel sh ifach. Jacuzzi was freezing cood When we sit in there water up only half way. I brought full board only food Need to buy drink (water juice. Etc buy extra) some where else they still provide at list juice and water Food are the same taste every day Not worst to get fullboard. Recommence get only breakfast. Then out side food are better and fresh Not exclusive as advertised I stay on 15th floor Air condition Never turn on open window is better. Walk 2 minutes to get to beach Not worst to come to hotel I gave to pay for towel to used in the pool €10 every time i go to the pool Normally 4 stars hotel will provide towel to used at the pool. Not allowance to even used room towel You must pay €10 Advertised kid club and kid area never open. Only few machine, table tennis, pools, all need to pay to used Can not leave my kids for used spa or massage. Well reconsider if you want to come to this hotel I give only 2.5 stars only Food qualities are not good Good luck for this hotel!! No bar at pool No out door theatre Fake advertised only pictures never open facilities

Very good hotel. Great staff, very helpful. Good location. Down side food. Everything cold. They did have a microwave but in a decent hotel you should not need to reheat your meal. Would not recommend.

I stayed at the Hotel SH Ifach three and a half years ago and returned, not for the quality of the hotel but for the location. The hotel is a medium sized 15 story hotel at the northern end of Calpe and situated between two excellent beaches. The architecture of the hotel represents the Rock of Ifach and from the outside is quite attractive. The entrance via large revolving doors leads into the lobby which also accommodates the reception area and a small lobby lounge with minimal soft chairs around the entrance plus also the bar area. The first floor containes the restaurant and for those people travelling with Saga, the Saga lounge. Floors 2-15 contains the bedrooms. The bedrooms are of a good size, all with very large bathrooms and very spacious balconies. The beds are very comfortable and are well serviced. The rooms contain a good sized flat screen television and a safe which is free of charge. The wardrobes are in a hallway with a inner door to the bedroom which ensures that no noise is heard from the corridors at night. In fact during the four weeks that I stayed at the Hotel Ifach I did not hear any noise from any other room so that the soundproofing is very good. The bedrooms in general while kept very clean are looking a little tired and could do with re furbishing. Note that south facing (pool facing) rooms get the sun in the afternoons whereas north facing (rock facing) get the sun in the mornings. The restaurant leaves much to be desired. Again, it needs refurbishing and is more like a works canteen than a hotel restaurant. The tables are laid with paper tablecloths and napkins which did not impress me. The food is just OK but nothing to get excited about. It does improve at the weekends when Spanish guests arrive but at that time it becomes very busy and there are just not enough staff. If you dine after 8.00 p.m. The restaurant staff are more interested in laying the tables for breakfast than clearing diners tables between courses. The buffet is arranged along the full length of the restaurant and it c an be a long walk before you are able to sit down. The lobby area as stated contained everything and is very unattractive. The bar has no atmosphere and tables and plastic chairs are are in straight regimental lines. There is a great lack of lounge seating, just a few chairs around the main revolving doors and the area between is supposed to be the dance floor at night. The entertainment is very basic and loud. If you want peace and quiet between the hours of 9.00p.m.- 11.00p.m. you have to go to your room as the lobby is built around an atrium which may look attractive but is impractical. The lower ground floor contains the spa area and indoor pool and also the gym which is very well maintained and has enough equipment for the most dedicated body builders. Outside, the pool area is quite nice but is overlooked by blocks of apartments which does detract from privacy. Overall, the hotel is well maintained and is clean but I found is of fairly basic standards. Certainly the restaurant needs improving and a proper lounge would be of great benefit, but I do not know where it could be located as so much empty space is taken up by the atrium. It is always difficult to grade a hotel in Europe as their star rating is based on facilities whereas in Britain the star rating is based on quality. Therefore to take both into consideration I rate this as only 3 stars as a lot of improvements need to be made. If you have found this review to be of help to you, I would appreciate it if you would kindly press the "helpful" button. Thank you.

Calpe is a lovely resort. This hotel is well placed to with amazing views of the rock and the salt flats behind. The room was spacious and well kept, beds comfortable and a nice big balcony. unfortunately the air conditioning was useless and, although it was only April, it was very hot in the room. Wifi was only available if we stood by the door of the room. There was a free safe in the room which was a bonus. There are 4 small lifts (one currently out of use for repair) which isn't really enough for such a large hotel with 15 floors - a lot of time was spent either waiting for a lift, or stopping at other floors which wasn't too bad at this time of year but I can imagine in the summer it's a bit of a nightmare. The restaurant is quite small and although the food was good, there was a limited choice each evening, and compared to previous 4* accommodation I've stayed in, it was lacking in imagination. Breakfast was wide and varied however, with lots of choice Having said that all the food was always fresh and hot. We went all inclusive and so drinks were included - unlike other 4* establishments where there is a choice of wine for dinner - it was red or white (and quite rough). The red wine at the bar was undrinkable (and I drink most things!) The evening entertainment was pretty palatable and took place in the entrance to the hotel, which has a large glass front/ceiling. The indoor spa pool was full of kids so I wasn't keen to repeat that experience, although the facilities were well kept and modern All in all, we had a lovely weekend at this hotel, the staff were very helpful and the hotel was very comfortable, I just think it's more good 3* than 4.

Was there with my lokal Cycling club. Nice hotel and base for your training Camp This year. Good buffet with all the food you need. Nice Big Rooms with wonderful beds. Good service all over. Would definitely come back.....
