Have visited this resort several times before due to its location and away from the tourist trap. Have not used the golfing facilities so cannot comment. Have gone self catering as its so much easier.Ideal base to explore surrounding area. Will need a car to get around. Taxi to the city costs between 15-20 euros one way. Rooms clean, spacious and tidy. Stayed in block 7 and got the sun on the balconies, but limited view of the golf course or surrounding area. Will be returning.
Stayed for 8 days to meet up with family. We booked bed and breakfast only, the others were on full board. The apartment was very spacious 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite) kitchen dining room etc. and could only be faulted by lack of kitchen utensils. No kettle, tea towel, washing up liquid etc. The balcony was large but unfortunately did not get any sun but if it did there was not enough furniture on it. So far so good, so would definitely recommend ! The gardens were well kept as was the Golf Course. Now we get onto the food and staff. The girls on reception fine. Breakfast staff fine. Breakfast acceptable if you like your bacon literaly swimming in fat so advise eat the cold food and fruit. Evening meal. Do not waste your money. The A la carte menu is very poor strange and mostly inedible. The menu that our friends had as they were all inclusive was no better but a slight better choice. They were not allowed to eat off our menu and neither we off theirs. They had wine included but were told off by giving us a glass it. The waiter nearly went ballistic and said it was against the rules. On another occasion I went to the bar and ordered 2 gin and tonics they were served in a nice stemmed bulb glass full of ice with a bottle of tonic water but when they saw one of our friends drinking one they came and said that because they were on the full board deal they were not allowed to drink out of the nice glasses, they were only allowed tumblers with a cheaper gin and tonic already mixed in!!! After nights of eating cheese and biscuits and cold meats later on in our apartment , I succumbed on our final night and bypassed the waiters and went to reception to politely ask, as I was hungry and there was nothing on the A la carte menu that had not been changed all week, if I could pay extra and eat the all inclusive dinner ? Their answer Yes but only if I paid full board for the full time I had been there !!! So, would I go back ? If I only wanted a bed yes. But they need to get their act together train the staff to be polite and find a chef that can cook!!
Just a quick review for this one. We booked a few days before departure date. We went for this hotel as it was close to the airport. With it being only a few days away, it was important our transfer to hotel was a short one! This hotel is set in beautiful gardens, the check in was smooth and were met with friendly staff. The apartment was spacious and modern. We ventured out to Alicante in taxi for a bite to eat and get sense of the local atmosphere. Highly recommended by us!
Our family stayed in this resort for 3 nights at the end of our holiday in Spain. The apartment was clean, spacious and comfortable. The pool was great although a bit cold in April however our kids enjoyed it for a short splash around. It also had a little play park which they enjoyed. Although we didn't use the golf course or restaurant they both looked great to. We chose to go into Alicante for dinner. We had a car so this wasn't a problem. The nearest beaches were around 15mins away and lovely. We chose the resort because of the good family room rate and distance from airport as we had an early morning departure. Overall it was a good experience.
El Plantio it takes a lot of beating if you want somewhere that is a really nice apartment with full kitchen and two bathrooms at a realistic price. Personally I don't play golf so that side has no appeal to me. The apartments are all very large but if you get one facing the golf course and you are on the top floor you have the advantage of a private patio and also an enormous roof terrace which is totally private - see photo. If you're not bothered about going out it's excellent place to hang out and relax. The hotel has a bar and restaurant on-site but what it really needs is a poolside bar with a relaxing cabana / Beach side feel. I can't fault the place really but it just needs that little something to create a sort of relaxing hangout area and they certainly have the space to do it.
Under 10 minutes from the Alicante airport you'll find El Plantio. A 20 euro taxi take you to the resort where white apartments meet you. Very friendly staff takes care of you in the reception there you also find a restaurant with a nice view over the pool area. The rooms are large, nicely designed with all you need to live here for a while. From the balcony we had a prefect view over the golfcourse. Down by the clubhouse you'll find a restaurant, gym, large drivingrange and a par 3 course. The golfcourse are elevated, not much rough, small greens with many nice views over the landscape. I recommend El Plantio for any golfers!
We stayed here before flying home from our holiday. We've stayed before and loved it then and it's still great. The apartments are amazing, large, comfortable, clean and smart. They don't have kettles. Which is weird... boiling water in a pan for a morning coffee or tea. But apart from that the rooms are great. It's a way out of town so you definitely need a car here. It has a bar and a restaurant. Last time we were here we raved about the restaurant - it wasn't as good this time, but maybe I fell unlucky with the choice of lamb (not good) as my partner had cod, which looked (and was apparently) really good. The facilities are amazing. A great lengths pool and another pool, play parks for the children. The pools are open when it's warm enough - so not now!! But are impressive. They were being painted and sealed when we were there, so should look great by the time it's warm enough to use them :-)
Excellent accommodation in a three bedroom apartment. Very spacious and well furnished to a high standard .The staff were very helpful , patient and kind The surroundings are lovely with mature trees .The food at the restaurant is of a very high standard for grown -ups .A shared portion of spaghetti bolognaise was willingly provided for the youngsters. The breakfast buffet was comprehensive . I would say a car is essential . Airport very close and 15mins to Alicante (A79 ) I would definitely stay here again.
We just returned from El Plantio Golf Resort on the 18th Feb 2017. I went with my 8 year old daughter together with other friends/their kids. First of all, this resort was marketed by onthebeach as having a kids club, spa and other facilities for children. We found out this was not true. There was absolutely nothing to keep the children occupied. The pool was dirty and cold plus not heated so they couldn't even swim in it. The closest shop is a taxi ride away and you don't pay less than 15-20 euros each way. The food was reasonable but it wasn't a buffet except breakfast and the same menu for the whole week. The apartments are well maintained and very clean. If you visit without children and not fussed about your meals then it is an ok resort. But DO NOT go there with kids as they will be bored stiff. By far my worst holiday yet
Had a lovely stay at the el plantio golf resort, although we didnt stay for the golf we had a lovely walk around the course, our 2 bed apartment was clean and well equipped, like other advisors you do need to buy essentials such as dishwasher tab, clothes ect and with no local shops if you don't have a car your stuck! We also used the resturant which served al a carte menu after 7.30pm but before that was the snack menu we ate there twice and enjoyed all we had, the food is presented to a very high standard and full of flavours and best of all not expensive for hotel. The staff are very helpful & friendly. My only advice is to have a hire car
