The hotel is quite nice but the employees may change their mind if a problem happens. It happened that I made 2 bookings instead of one (my mistake yes) and one of the employees told me that they were going to fix the problem the next day with my travel agency but after few days I realized that they charged the first night for the second room (never used a second room nor took the card of it) on my card. After getting in touch with them via email they refused to offer any refund or "bonus" even this was not the first time I was in this hotel. I will not go in this hotel again even if I will have to visit Portoroz again.
We are coming every year in this hotel, 2 or 3 times per year. And every my visit I see the same great standards, which people, who work there, continue to keep. Before our arrive I always call to hotel. It’s easy and helping to avoid misunderstandings upon checking in. Mr.Peter and Mrs.Gabriella always nice and helpful. I feel that people in Palace Portoroz are happy to see every guests, and this feelings make us come again and again. As gha members we have double upgrade and this is another reason to come back. But even without upgrade all rooms are very nice. I never hear any noise from another rooms. And I hope that nobody hears my 3 kids) Mrs.Anja,Mrs.Alexandra, Mrs. Kristina,Mr.Rok, Mr.Bronislav( i Hope i Said correct) - this is Avengers team! They are superheroes, even when restaurant for breakfast is full and no place to seat - this people will arrange it. I m surprise when read about complain - if something not on my table or not in the buffet, i can request it and it will arrive. And it’s always nice to see the same people every year- it’s means that they like to work here... Housekeeping- lady and man are always very quick. With 3 small kids in room it’s always haos, but our lady very helpful, friendly and quick. By the way - we stay in Deluxe room, with 2 baby cots and one extra bed. May be, this info will help someone... We prefer to order room service : Mr.Alan is our superstar. Even something not in the menu, but he can arrange it. Mrs.Benji and Mr.Rok always quick and I love, how they looking after us... Pool is another reason to come. Solt water and great jacuzzi... but this year I m little bit disappointed with water temperature. I know, that it’s written 28 degrees, but it’s still cold... we all get sick...I think, that pool manager should swim everyday in pool and he(or she) will understand what I mean... of cause summer time there is no this problem. Mr.Oton and his colleague ( sorry forgot his name) are always on duty and ready to jump in water and save ) Spa experience is very good. I had massage done by Mrs.Mojka and now I have my wings back )) My opinion: this hotel is the best in Portoroz, but if you have some problems- need to contact with people( I can’t call them STAFF, they are like our family now). Don’t expect that there will be no ants( many trees around), or there will be your favorite food on buffet ( always can request). I never hear word NO in this place, may be something not available but our friends in Palace Portoroz are always find the solution. And the last one : parking price is little bit tooo high..)20 euros... but we will come again, it’s worth it.
We found this hotel to be a five star experience. The title of the review is important and I want to note that I don't work for tripadvisor. We found this hotel on TripAdvisor and decided we were going to book at $130 (about 110 Euros). We crossed into slovenia as I was booking the hotel and could no longer get service on my phone. When I arrived, I went into the hotel (which was far from full this time of year) and the best they could offer me was 150 euro. I showed the hotel staff the amount on TripAdvisor and he recommended I book through them. He allowed me to sit at the desk, connect to their wifi and book the hotel for about 110 Euro. This was a great lesson for me and I thought for others. The breakfast is incredible. They have a section for local fare which the locally cured Prosciutto and salami with truffles. They can make omelettes, scrambled eggs to order but we skipped that since we can get that anywhere. Instead, we tried the cheese table, the different types of cured salmon, roasted mushrooms/tomatoes, etc. Be careful not to get the fruit infused vodka instead of water (although it was funny to discover this error). Coffee is brought to table in a pot for you to linger and enjoy the morning. I felt a trifle under dressed in dining room although there was a range of formality. Rooms are reasonably sized (we stayed at the traditional palace and not the new section) and we faced the hills (back). I would definitely not pay up for 'sea side'. Unless you are high up, you will only get a good view of the strip mall across the street and not very much 'sea' for the money. I enjoyed the pampering with the robe and house shoes. I would definitely recommend - especially for the price.
Staff, staff, staff!!! Always smiling, they do not look at you, they keep asking you - do you need something? Hotel is a very beautiful combination of old and new part of hotel Pool is excellent but saunas are small and everyone are naked there (if you think to take a kids with you) Food - there is no words - to much of everything
The Palace hotel deserves it's five star rating. The rooms are large and comfortable while I found the service to be excellent. Restaurant Sophia is a formal dining experience worth the price. The breakfast buffet offers a large selection of items in a lovely setting. The indoor/outdoor pool is beautiful and inviting. The hotel is across the street from the beach area, not right on it. Valet parking for your vehicle at 20 euros a night. My only minor issue concerned only one bar of soap in the bathroom for my entire three night stay. I wish hotels, especially five star, would provide a bar of soap for both the sink and bath/shower. Anyway, you'll enjoy staying here.
From the moment we pulled up in the car, to be met by the concierge who parked the car in the underground car park, we knew this was a good hotel. Lovely spacious rooms with huge comfy beds that are spotlessly clean. Large tv in the room, with enough English channels to keep us happy. The bars in the hotel are very luxurious and the staff made us feel very welcome. Taking breakfast on the terrace is a special experience, especially with the choice of foods available. The indoor and outdoor pools are delightful, but, probably as being English, we got asked to leave the sauna, steam rooms etc as you are not allowed in with your swim shorts/bathing suits on and must go naked, yes it’s a bit odd. We got grassed up by some large non English chap!!!!! The staff at the hotel are exceptional at their jobs and genuinely friendly.
A fantastic hotel with great staff and service. Nothing to complain about, instead the opposite. Rooms were really good Food was really good Breakfast was really good Staff were really good and service minded. I had 60 employees with who had exactly the same experience. THANK YOU!!!
We arrived in what was clearly an off-season time around noon. We were unable to check into our room because the hotel system was down. it was necessary to wander aimlessly around waiting for the opportunity to present our credentials and check into our room. That was the first indication that the staff skill level was not comparable to the investment in the facility the room itself is well appointed, clean and comfortable. the bedding was luxurious the mattress and the pillows comfortable . the bathroom was appointed with all the accoutrements one would expect from a good hotel including a bathrobe and slippers for the very beautiful pool. The second and much more frustrating evidence of a poorly trained staff followed that afternoon......was asked to call the small Croatian restaurant we where we wished to dine Konoba Stari Podrum He did so I then asked for directions He said he could not help with that I then asked him to spell the Correct name of the town so we could use gps He spelled. MOTOVUN The result was 90 very frustrating Minutes of driving to the wrong town before finally figuring out we been given incorrect information. One car found it from a previous correspondence The other was totally lost For an important hotel, this seemed like amateur night at a hostel The third incident and fault been told that the kitchen for the casual dining restaurant was being expanded and so there was no room for dining despite many empty tables In summary the hotel is in a beautiful location and very comfortable the front of the house staff lacked experience and training
We stayed for a week in a room overlooking the entrance at the back but it had a pleasant view over the hillside behind. We have stayed in Kemplinski before and it was a lovely hotel with a few niggles. The room was very nice and spotlessly clean but the bathroom ,we feel, should have had a separate shower. The shower over the bath was poor. A small bathroom really for a 5* hotel. There is only 1 chair on the balconies and 1 armchair in the room. They did however provide an extra balcony chair on request. Why only provide 1 chair in a double room? The breakfasts were excellent and up till 12. However one morning breakfast finished at 11 due to a function. We were unaware. Reception said notes had been delivered to each room to inform guests but we didn't receive one. Very disappointing as breakfast disappeared while we were there. At other Kemplinskis tea and coffee is provided in room. Not at Portoroz. It is 15 euros for 2 cups of tea by room service !! If we had had a cup of tea each every day of our stay that would have been 105 euros! Also water was provided each day at other hotels. We had a bottle in our room the first night but none after. Extortionate prices for water from the mini bar. They gave us a bottle of sparking wine in our room for my birthday which was a lovely thought. However my birthday is the 8th July not 8th October. We did tell them of the mistake but they said we could keep it ! They must have mistyped my d.o.b. from my passport. A pleasant stay!
We traveled over from Italy with my sister, niece, and great-nephews. We were in the more modern wing of the hotel. The rooms were quiet and nicely furnished and the bathroom was quite large with a tub and shower. Our favorite places were the pool and restaurants! The salt water pool was indoors/outdoors with a hot tub. We had a lot of fun swimming. (And it is across the street from the Adriatic Sea for swimming, too.) The breakfast buffet had a huge variety and was one of the best I've ever had! And the hotel restaurants for dinner were wonderful with some of tyhe best desserts! Also, due to a few mishaps during our visit, we were able to attest to the first aid/assistance given by the lifeguards. (Be careful of the revolving door with small children!) I would highly recommend this hotel.
