I have only ever stayed at The Sheraton in Addis every time I have visited, yet I have never completed a review. So here goes. The Sheraton is only 15 minutes drive from Bole International Airport. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I always encounter staff who remember me from my previous visit and they always seem glad to see me. Rooms are large, airy, well appointed, clean. Food served at the restaurants is good and frequented for business lunches and dinners. The breakfast menu is extensive. One of the drawbacks of the hotel is the lack of a gym, which seems odd in this day and age. The hotel will however provide exercise equipment for guests to use in their rooms if requested. The other is the noise from the live band some of the evenings if you have a room that overlooks the pool. But the rooms overlooking the fountain are nice and quiet.
This was my second visit to the Sheraton and was again absolutely amazing. The staff are very friendly and always make me feel welcome. The food is excellent, especially a perfect variety on the breakfast menu. It is expensive but well worth the experience. The gardens are beautiful and surrounded by a few good dining restaurant options and the pool area is magnificent. Live music in the bar was very entertaining.
The grounds and facilities of the Sheraton are superb. But that's not what does it. The people in this hotel and around Addis generally could not be any nicer and warmer to visitors. Make sure you try the buffet restaurant to get a sampling of the local food. It's simply fantastic.
From reception, to the sad good byes.... AMAZING! Multilingual staff, exceptional food, amazingly spacious rooms. Great garden views. The services are as expensive as they are great. I would not have it any other way.
Ethiopia is still in early stage of development and this is probably the best hotel they have to offer though at a high prize. It has good view at the 4th floor executive lounge and nice options for dining. A good place to recharge after visiting other country location to finish the tour on a high note!
Sheraton Hotel is more than a luxury hotel, it's an institution in Ethiopia. I've been staying 3 times there in the last 15 years, storing pleasant memories : amazing views of the city from the hill, fine dinner behind Summerfields bay windows, morning coffee at the poolside bar, last drink at cozy Stanley's, quiet walk in the beautiful gardens, smiles smiles smiles ... Staff, location, architecture, restaurants, rooms, swimming pool, interior settings, artistic decors, all facilities are top class. Wonderful !
Nice hotel, great service as you would expect, good restaurants, nice gardens and pool but SO expensive. We booked for 1 night as we arrived early morning from the UK and wanted to relax for the day before starting our tour and the Sheraton seemed to be the only hotel is Addis with gardens and a pool. We made the most of our day with the pool (and we were able to go straight to our room at 8am which was great) but it is just ridiculously expensive! A nice touch would have been some fruit/sweets in the room, as the rooms were actually quite ordinary for this level of hotel.
I stayed at Sheraron Addis for 3 night in September 2015.The best hotel I have ever been too. Excellent staff & really clean and specoius rooms. Breakfast as well was amazing. I think usd300 per night in Addis is way too expensive while I pay about usd170 -200 for similar facility in Europe. Otherwise it is the best hotel ever.
First of all, this is the nicest hotel in all of Addis Ababa. The property is stunning and the rooms are comfortable and modern. However, I have to commend the manager and staff for going above and beyond in helping me during my visit. I had gotten very ill in the Congo prior to my arrival, and unfortunately during my stay in Addis, I was in an out of the hospital for several days. When I became very ill, the manager helped me get transportation to the hospital and was able to book me a new reservation until I was able to get medically evacuated. This was very helpful as I was traveling alone and very weak from dehydration. Having gotten sick in squalid conditions prior to my arrival, my hotel room was the nicest and most comforting place to be sick. Also, the food was delicious and a nice respite from the traditional Ethiopian food I was eating. I am very grateful to the hotel manager for all his help.
Excellent hotel with great staff and wonderful facilities. The rooms are modern, spacious and well furnished. The internet is reliable and the speeds very good. The restaurant fare is excellent although variety is rather limited. The drinks list is more extensive but like the restaurant very pricey, even for a 5 star. It's location does not make it easy to walk into town but the isolation is reduced by the live bands on Thursdays and Fridays. Great choice for business visit especially if the company is picking up the tab
