This hotel certainly comes with a WOW factor once you arrive. The building is stunning with a beautiful pool and garden area. Unfortunately, the service can't keep up. Staff are friendly but without any warmth. If you arrive by taxi they don't let them enter so you have to get off at the gate and walk all the way to the hotel - not the nicest welcome.
Had to stay here for fourth time because I attended a conference here. Can't believe this place has no gym. Wonderful pool and grounds. Impressive main lobby as well. How no gum! Shower broken and had to use hand shower head. Breakfast boring, no pork! Staff nice but overbearing security. Bed not comfortable and internet is a joke-skype calls very difficult.
The hotel offers nice views over Addis Ababa and the surroundings. Its own gardens are beautiful too. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and one misses nothing at all. The service is impeccable: incredibly friendly and efficient. Excellent bars and restaurants, good security. A great hotel indeed!
I have only ever stayed at The Sheraton in Addis every time I have visited, yet I have never completed a review. So here goes. The Sheraton is only 15 minutes drive from Bole International Airport. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I always encounter staff who remember me from my previous visit and they always seem glad to see me. Rooms are large, airy, well appointed, clean. Food served at the restaurants is good and frequented for business lunches and dinners. The breakfast menu is extensive. One of the drawbacks of the hotel is the lack of a gym, which seems odd in this day and age. The hotel will however provide exercise equipment for guests to use in their rooms if requested. The other is the noise from the live band some of the evenings if you have a room that overlooks the pool. But the rooms overlooking the fountain are nice and quiet.
This was my second visit to the Sheraton and was again absolutely amazing. The staff are very friendly and always make me feel welcome. The food is excellent, especially a perfect variety on the breakfast menu. It is expensive but well worth the experience. The gardens are beautiful and surrounded by a few good dining restaurant options and the pool area is magnificent. Live music in the bar was very entertaining.
The grounds and facilities of the Sheraton are superb. But that's not what does it. The people in this hotel and around Addis generally could not be any nicer and warmer to visitors. Make sure you try the buffet restaurant to get a sampling of the local food. It's simply fantastic.
From reception, to the sad good byes.... AMAZING! Multilingual staff, exceptional food, amazingly spacious rooms. Great garden views. The services are as expensive as they are great. I would not have it any other way.
Ethiopia is still in early stage of development and this is probably the best hotel they have to offer though at a high prize. It has good view at the 4th floor executive lounge and nice options for dining. A good place to recharge after visiting other country location to finish the tour on a high note!
Sheraton Hotel is more than a luxury hotel, it's an institution in Ethiopia. I've been staying 3 times there in the last 15 years, storing pleasant memories : amazing views of the city from the hill, fine dinner behind Summerfields bay windows, morning coffee at the poolside bar, last drink at cozy Stanley's, quiet walk in the beautiful gardens, smiles smiles smiles ... Staff, location, architecture, restaurants, rooms, swimming pool, interior settings, artistic decors, all facilities are top class. Wonderful !
Nice hotel, great service as you would expect, good restaurants, nice gardens and pool but SO expensive. We booked for 1 night as we arrived early morning from the UK and wanted to relax for the day before starting our tour and the Sheraton seemed to be the only hotel is Addis with gardens and a pool. We made the most of our day with the pool (and we were able to go straight to our room at 8am which was great) but it is just ridiculously expensive! A nice touch would have been some fruit/sweets in the room, as the rooms were actually quite ordinary for this level of hotel.
