We had an excellent time staying at Club Del Sol Acapulco! All of the employees were extremely kind, helpful, and prompt to attend to any request we had, even at 1am! It's a little sandy, particularly in the lobby but that is because the lobby is open air and right down the street from the beach. Pros: There is free Wi-Fi, but it is only available in the lobby. They will give you a slip of paper with the password if you simply ask at the counter. There is a pool located off the lobby that is mostly full of families and children as well as one on the rooftop which can only be accessed from the front lobby elevators (we found this out the hard way). We were served drinks and food at the rooftop pool by extremely nice young waiters, and the wait was only 5-10 minutes from the time we ordered. The view from the rooftop is AMAZING! Take pictures there, you can see clear across the bay. There is also a very nice breeze on the rooftop despite the glass walls on most sides. We had 4 suites for our family, each suite with a common living room with a porch, a dining table, a TV, a kitchenette area (see below regarding this), and two bedrooms each with their own locking door, air conditioning control knob, bathroom with a shower, and private balcony. We received two keys per room, each on a green rope which you could easily leave around your neck. There is also a safe located in each of the suites for you to lock your belongings if you wish. I have always been taught to do this when in other countries and have never had a problem retrieving my things. The beds are firm but comfortable, more of a foam mattress firm and not a springy firm. We loved them and slept fantastically on them, but a few people in our party felt they were uncomfortable. There are dorm style sliding door closets in each room with built in drawers and plenty of room for any number of bags you might have brought. There are also a decent number of outlets in the bed rooms, bathroom, and common areas. The beach is only a two block walk away and Club Del Sol has a relationship with the cabaña company there so our cabaña was free and right by the water whenever we wanted it. Local vendors are constantly walking the beach area with things like fresh seafood, hats and sunglasses, fruits, and even veggies (like jicama and cucumbers) for sale at fairly reasonable prices (even if your Spanish is poor). Right down the street from the hotel are many nationally recognized banks and restaurants such as BBVA, McDonald's, KFC, and Starbucks to name a few. There are also local markets strung along the main road where you can get anything from a hammock and a swimsuit to a shot glass with the authentic tequila and worm. CONS: You have to wear a paper bracelet for the duration of your stay. This is not related to your room key (which is an actual key) and is similar to an admission bracelet for a concert. We didn't want to keep ours on because we were there for a wedding and were told that if the bracelets were taken off or lost we would have to pay for new ones. This was only 8 dollars or so per person, but it was still inconvenient. It seems as though there used to be kitchenettes in each suite, but they are now empty leaving an interesting marble countertop area where there used to be a stovetop and mini fridge. There are now signs on the walls stating that no cooking of any kind is allowed there. Our suite still had the over the range vent/fan and light installed over the countertop. It was an odd looking area, but it honestly did not detract from our stay. Overall, the service was amazing, the location was perfect, and we are planning on staying at the Club Del Sol Acapulco on our next visit.
At Club Del Sol Hotel the service is fast and friendly and the employies really try to make your stay agreable. The rooms are very clean. The location is 2 minutes from the beach. What I like best is the family and friendly atmosphere you find there. It is like home with garantied nice sunny weather evey day. The best place to stay when on vacation in Acapulco: not expenseve, well situated and very confortable.
Club del sol, is a home away from home. I have been coming to Acapulco for over 30 years and have stayed at the Club del sol 90 percent of the time, 4 times I stayed at private condos and the other 6 times I tried different hotels and I always came back to the Club as we like to call it. Why people always ask, the excellent staff from the front desk to the cleaning staff to the service staff at the bars and in the restaurant, the security staff that make our stay safe, everyone has a hello and a smile for you when you pass and the administration staff in the timely response to inquiry when planning my stay. The owner puts his heart and sole into making it a great place to stay, he works day and night and tries hard to please everyone, not always an easy task. His wife, is always there with a smile and runs some excellent cross fit classes (so I have heard from those that attend) I prefer to laze by the roof top pool for adults only there are two pools on the roof and great chairs for lazing around, clean thick towels daily that I don't have to wash what more could I want. Oh and don't forget the magnificent view from roof top you can see the ocean and any action that may be on the main costera. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, they are not Las brisas or the hyatt but they are most definitely suitable and I have always had comfortable beds to sleep in after a night on the town. They have worked very hard over the years to upgrade the hotel one floor at a time, this is a very large hotel and there is always something to fix or do it is never ending but they seem to have never ending energy. I believe when travelling go with the flow don't let minor things bother you and you will have a great time. I spend 2 months every year here and I cant think of a better place. If you are looking for long stay this is the place; you will meet wonderful people that will be your friends for life. You may get the opportunity to enjoy the company of the Mexican people and enjoy their culture they treat you like family. You are with in walking distance of many restaurants and bars and night clubs, grocery stores and the mall if you feel like shopping. The beach is located one block from the hotel a mire 5 minute walk tops! If you don't want to leave the hotel and spend your time at the pools, you have 5 to choose from. I can not wait to return, I plan to be there in the next couple of weeks for my annual vacation! submitted C.Wilkie
The Club del Sol Hotel in Acapulco, Mexico has been a favourite of mine and my familyfor many years. This hotel is located across the street from the beach but only minutes away (walking) Club del Sol offers several pools, roof top has two waist high pools, perfect for cooling off on that glorious hot day. The rooms are great, with kitchenettes and great views. I've stayed at the Club del Sol many many times..the staff is friendly and always there to assist you. The entertainment is amazing...great music! Club del Sol hotel is family friendly. Brought my children there a few times. The only reason (in my eyes) that the Club del Sol is labelled a 3* hotel is that the hotel is not directly on the beach....that's it! A true Gem!
Club Del Sol is everything you want in a long stay Hotel. It is a family run Hotel and is run By Bernardo and his recent wife Anna. It is on the costera within walking distance to the beach , night life. and many wonderful Mexican restaurants. Of course if you prefer Canadian fast food there is a McDonalds, Dominos, Subway and KFC litterly outside your door. If you are a gambler there is a casino on the corner. The hotel has 5 pools, a restaurant. a lobby bar where there is entertainment 3 times a week. Since my daughter is in a wheelchair, the owner picked a room for us close to the elevator and customized the room for us including removing a bathroom door and putting in a hand held shower. The staff is very helpfull and make you feel like family. The hotel is older but is kept up well and they are always doing upgrades. We were there for almost 4 months and hope to get back there again as soon as we can. There are many regulars that we got to know and we were all like family by the time we left. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.
My family have been going to Club Del Sol yearly since we were young children. This place is a little gem. Yes, its a old hotel but it has character! Great staff and amazing location. The pool is lovely and a quick walk to the beach.
We have been going for 1 month nearly every year since 1990. It is situated at excellent location, 2 blocks from the church and superstore Bottega, across the street from the ocean and a 10 minutes walk from Moro Beach (across the street from Papagayo Park) it is in the bay so it is safe to swim, no undertow, and you have water sports. The hotel was founded by the grandfather and have been owned and runned by the Azcarraga family since. It went from father to son who died 2 years ago and the granson Bernado took over the hotel, started immediately renovations, section by section and has been working very hard to restore the rooms and hotel and he is doing an excellent job. It has a restaurant for the people that goes all inclusive and for the guest that wants to eat out. The rooms have 2 double beds, a couch, table and 4 chairs,a kitchenette, 2 rings stove a medium fridge. The staffs are very friendly and tries very hard to accomodate you. It is a moderate and affordable hotel, has entertainment nearly every night and a long holiday favorite featuring a friendly atmosphere. I was very disappointed with some reviews, it seems that they want a 5 stars services but affordable place, they shouldn't criticize and blame the hotel for their choice. We always had a terrific holiday and always looking forward to go back and reunited with our dear friends ,canadians, americans and mexicans.
It is a very old hotel that needs to be renovated URGENTLY,old beds, paint urgently needed all over the hotel. Leaking toilet, yes this is an option to be well located but do not expect anything else, pools are OK for kids as the deepest one is 3ft deep. No bugs that was something good. If you don't want to expend a lot and want to be well located in old Acapulco, closed to all bars in La Costera.
Worst trip ever. I booked for 4 nights here, i spent just 1! Hotel: OLD, horrible hotel, fake internet pics, dark front desk, old elevators, even dirty. Rooms: Horrible, the matress was the olddest ever. Broken furniture, broken window. We were supposed to have "resort view" what we got was a view to a dirty roof. Terrible. Staff: SO TERRIBLY RUDE, very negative, just wanting to charge for everything and anything. Tricky all inclusive plan, they didn't even offer dinner, just breakfast and lunch and ONE snack, terrible. Please do not stay here, there are other options for this price and this one is a terrible one.
I just returned from Acapulco last week. My husband and I spent two months at the hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly. Although the rooms are a little old, the staff was very good about keeping it clean. Some of the reviews I just read claimed that there were insects at the hotel, however I DID NOT see any. I'm very surprised by some of these reviews. From what I've seen they have improved a lot over the years and they will continue to improve their hotel in the future. The staff does what ever they can to please their guests through friendly conversation, music and creating a welcoming ambiance. The beach isn't too far, stores are near by and there is also a church that can be visited for mass that is in walking distance. I will definitely return and I recommend this hotel to anyone searching for a clean and friendly place who also wishes to save some money.
