This is my first trip to Abu Dhabi. I searched the hotel with the well known service so I chose Shangri La because of that. When I arrived, the staff very helpful. They gave me daily pray information in UE, gave mattress to pray and showed me the address that I should attended for my business. Also, they gave information about the hotel facility (shuttle bus) to reach interesting destination in Abu Dhabi. Even none except me that wanted to go there, they still accompanied me.

We have stayed at a number of Shangri-La hotels now as we find the quality to be very good. This hotel was no exception it is very well designed, lovely spacious rooms and a lovely balcony with a view over the water and the mosque. We visited the beach everyday. Very comfortable sun loungers and nice touches like water cooler with bottled water, someone to clean sunglasses, give you a cold towel etc. People get up early and reserve beds before breakfast so we ended up having to do the same thing. Breakfast was excellent so much choice and fantastic juices. Our room was always cleaned when we were out and turned down every day at a convenient time. It was easy to either eat at the hotel or grab a taxi at reception to go out. The spa facilities were also great we had a treatment which was very good and we used the facilities to get changed and showered before our late flight. Also an excellent free shuttle bus to points of interest. Some points for improvement The bed was very hard. There was almost no give in the mattress so I woke up with a sore back a few times. Hairdryers in the rooms are not very powerful and overheat easily. Lunch service on the beach could be quite slow. Overall we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend his hotel if travelling to Abu Dhabi. It was very relaxing and the beach really was fantastic. Be sure to visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

When you pass the door to the lobby you you have come into a new atmosphere, another rythm and a souzing atmosphere. Wonderful treatment and truly high class. Magnificient buffet and don't miss the brunch.

We stayed in a spacious Executive Suite for seven nights which was well worth the small incremental cost. This gave us access to the Horizon Lounge which was easily accessible from our sixth floor room overlooking the Grand Mosque. The Lounge was excellent for complimentary pre-dinner drinks before our evening meal. We dined at Sofra in the hotel on three nights (our one visit to Shang Palace, noted elsewhere, was the only negative during our stay). There are plenty of other restaurants, we ate in Azzurro and The Meat Co, in the nearby Souk which is only a short walk away. The hotel staff throughout our stay from check in to check out were attentive and friendly. One little tip in relation to the Golden Circle rewards card is that it is not just a points card to accrue future benefits but also entitles you to a 25% discount on food and beverages throughout your stay. I didn’t fully appreciate this during our stay but managed to secure the discount retrospectively when checking out.

Our visit to this hotel was a tale of two - a fantastic hotel on the positive side, its location creating constant noise preventing you from fully unwinding and relaxing. The hotel itself is great - the people and staff are very helpful, the service wonderful and helpful and the breakfast varied and tasteful. We had a Suite which was huge and well furnished which came with the Horizon Club allowing you to benefit from free drinks and food throughout your stay. On the downside we had a number of issues which aren't what we're used to: Noise - the hotel's location is just too noisy be it from the low hum of the two motorways either side, the plane/helicopters regularly flying overhead and landing on the nearby smaller airport, the jet skis out the front, the music from the bar, the occasional noise from the hotels air conditioning, weddings etc. It really spoilt our stay Beaches - one of the two beaches was constantly closed all week. Firstly because of the Dragon boat festival which we weren't made aware of before we arrived. Secondly because of "cleaning" (???) but the end result was a very busy beach with sun loungers very close together Not as good as other Shangri La hotels. Elsewhere we've had free happy hours just with standard room bookings, free mini bars in the room (again with standard bookings), more things to do in the evening, better beach service (ice creams and sorbets free to guests) and better beaches with less people on them If constant noise does not bother you, you will have a lovely time here but really this is a great hotel in an off-putting location. Such a shame!

We stayed at the horizon garden suite for two days and it was heavenly. We were treated like royalty. The staff was amazing! It’s a real 5 star hotel. The beach, the pools, the lounge, the restaurants , the view - everything is top notch. We arrived at 7 am and our rooms were obviously not ready yet but they let us use the facilities while preparing the rooms. I went for a visit in the Spa while my husband and kids took a boat tour and swam in one of the pools. The food everywhere is amazing. Even at the pool bar. Their buffet breakfasts will leave your speechless. The room was excellent ! It’s a beautiful suite with a terrace and a view on the mosque. You have unlimited tea, coffee and water supply. Bathrobes and slippers, ironing board and everything else you could think of. I liked the horizon club option. The lounge is beautiful , they serve breakfast there if you chose to forgo the buffet breakfast downstairs, free soft drinks and snacks all day and a happy hour from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. During the happy hour they serve unlimited alcohol drinks and have a very good selection of snacks that might even become your supper. Every night is themed . We had one Chinese and one Arabic night. Both times the food was very good. The view from the balcony on the mosque is an excellent addition to your drinks. Even my kids enjoyed coming to the lounge . I also loved the infinity pool with the view on the mosque . Swimming there at 6 in the morning . All by myself watching the sun illuminating the mosque is an experience I will never forget. Fridays are a bit busy. You will probably have to fight for your place at the pool and in the restaurant . But it’s also fun to be immersed in such a buzzing holiday atmosphere . Sunday was more relaxed and a true zen experience. I haven’t had a chance to take ad advantage of all of the amenities and I am defiantly planning on going back . We chose this hotel for the view but we got so much more than that !

Hotel is on the way from airport before city proper. Overlooks the grand mosque. which is a very pleasant outlook. Staff very efficient, friendly and helpful. Hotel is not as modern as some others but had a good ambience. Had no trouble organising a later checkout for flight back home. Good buffet breakfast. Typical of 5 star+ hotel.

Disappointed for the money we spend there, service was very low at pool and main pool bar, not very motivated stuff there. Last order at pool bar was at 10.30 p.m. Location is nice but far away from central Abu Dhabi. No good hotel facility information at hotel room Residences are really not part of the hotel, just a add on room stuff / Housekeeping really good

Stayed at one of the Club Rooms for 4 nights in October and could not have had a better stay. Rooms are excellent, club lounge has a good selection during happy hour and a seperate room with toys for travellers with young children (like us), breakfast is one of the best we've had, location and resulting views are great and the staff is simply amazing. Vadana for example, the lady that took care of our room during our stay, was not only extremely thorough in cleaning the room, but she picked up on our "habits" really fast so we would always have extra towels and she would always find exactly the right time to clean our room so we wouldn't feel any inconvenience. Furthermore, she always seemed to be around and was extremely forthcoming in helping us with special requests giving us extra slippers for our young daughter or providing us with additional water bottles. Again, a great stay and we'd definitely go back to the Shangri La if we come by Abu Dhabi again.

Had a great week at the Shangri La Abu Dhabi. The staff were all delightful and were a credit to SL Hotels. All the food outlets were excellent however we didn’t try the restaurants in the souk though. We both really like this hotel and would be delighted to return anytime.
