This hotel falls off nothing but breath taking, from the lavish corridors to the excellent rooms, truly an experience of a life time, the only problem was the breakfast which had very little variety but all in all it was a worthwhile experience
Its a nice property, however services are poor. We checked in in the late evening, we booked for a king size bed, where we were asked to adjust with twin beds. Agreed with that as they said they have joined the twin beds, after reaching our room found that those were not joined. Called up reception several times no body answered. After 15 minutes the housekeeping agent arrived, informed the same to him, he was not even apologetic as he was so lazy and cold in his approach. The only thing I like was the breakfast.
For a short break in December we choose first Abu Dhabi to visit Ferrari world and the beach. The hotel was nice, room ok but outside and balcony are getting a bit old. The breakfast was ok, but was a bit chaotic one day, waiting in line up to the elevators to be seated, not enough staff to clean up other tables and to refill. But they kept on smiling😉. Beach: they provide complimentary tickets for the beachclub, very nice place and walkingdistance. Pool: I think the hotel should prevent people from putting towels on loungers and not use the beds till lunch...the souvenirshop looks dark and not very inviting, no smiling staff inside the store...the hairdresser though is very kind! Overall good price-quality.
I returned from Abu Dhabi this week after enjoying a relaxing week at the Crowne Plaza in Yas Island. My mum and I visited for some winter sun into the new year. We had previously visited Dubai and I was keen to visit Abu Dhabi. I can say quite comfortably that this hotel and Abu Dhabi Yas Island was a much more enjoyable trip and place than my visit to Dubai. The hotel was clean, room spacious, stay super friendly dog (particularly the Sundowner pool bar staff.) The pool bar is affordable, the same cannot be said for the Jing Asia Buffet and Stills Restaurant. There is however a free, super quick Yas Express service that runs from the hotel to all the main places on Yas Island, including the Mall. I would recommend using the shuttle which runs till beyond midnight to go to the mall for dinner. There is greater variety, it is better quality and value for money in my opinion. The Yas Express was a life saver throughout the trip as we had anticipated that we would be paying for taxis during our trip. We did also make use of the hotel gym, hotel nail salon and there is also a sauna, hair salon (both men’s and women’s) it pretty much has everything you need. Everyday plenty of bottles (sometimes 6 bottles) of water were left in the room for us - Crowne Plaza branded of course! The pool is great, the views out from the pool do differ. To the right you see cranes and building works and to the left you see golf course and the Arabian golf. Thankfully, unlike in Dubai, the building work isn’t loud and 24/7 so doesn’t disrupt the experience too much. The pool is always busy so get down there before 10am and you will get a sun lounger. A few watch outs: VAT was introduced whilst we were over there so there is now 5% VAT, this is in addition to the 10% service charge, 6% tourism fee and 4% municipal fee. The hotel does include all of the above fees except VAT in the prices they quote for food. The hotel staff did also forget towels for our room one day after cleaning it (they did for someone else on our floor too) and some days it took till 5pm for the room to be cleaned. This was a little annoying because when we wanted an early dinner it meant we couldn’t get ready when we wanted to. We would definitely visit Abu Dhabi Yas Island and stay here again! Highly recommend!
Stayed in this hotel for an overnight connection in Abu Dhabi Airport. For this purpose it was fine, since Yas Island is 15 minutes away by car from the airport. To stay there longer... well, not a good idea. The restaurants in the hotel do not look very inspiring for a meal, more reminiscent of some school canteens. Some strange mistake happened during check-in: the girl at the reception tried to convince me that I booked a twin bed smoking room, which of course I did not, but she was very persistent. Only when I showed her the printout of my booking, which explicitly stated, that I booked a king bed nonsmoking room, she gave up. Anyway she was very nice and polite all the way around and provided us with an upgraded deluxe sea view room, also told us a lot of useful information about Yas Island. The upgraded room was a disappointment though. Not only I wouldn’t say it was sea view, more like a construction site view with construction going on till late night by the way, but the design was weird to say the least. It had a glass wall between the bedroom and the bathroom with toilet facing the bed directly. Of course the glass wall was covered with shades which could be adjusted to diminish the visibility, but nevertheless from the light position one could guess who was doing what in the bathroom. Really weird. One night in this hotel was just enough for me, I would definitely not recommend it for longer stays.
Arrived in early hours of 27th - my husband is an IHG member and as soon as we arrived they said they'd upgrade us to a room with sea view/balcony. We chose to have our breakfast on the first day as opposed to the day of departure - they had our room ready for us by about 9 am which was fantastic. We've stayed here before so knew our way around but the staff here are brilliant and nothing's too much trouble. This hotel has a couple of restaurants - we were booked for bed and breakfast so had this which was buffet style. We also ate in Stills restaurant which is good too! Id not hesitate to stay here and recommend. Yas Island is a great place to stay, theres a free shuttle bus which will take you to the more well known places, taxis are very reasonable too. Taxi from airport to hotel is about 40 dirhams - be very careful when leaving the airport that you go to the official taxis as there are some unscrupulous people who try and steer you away from them to go in their taxis, these are more than double what they should be. Ask the concierge for free tickets to the private beach, this is about 10 mins walk or jump on the shuttle bus. You can also get the shuttle bus to the nearby golf club where you can sit outside and have a meal - expect to pay £20 for a meal such as lasagne, curry or pie and chips .. well worth it for the view. Smart casual dress. Most hotels also have happy hours - try Stills bar in the hotel or Y Bar across the road at Yas Rotana. Id say the only disappointing thing about the hotel was that the towels were pretty old and worn and our room smelt a little bit musty - however the room was clean.
An excellent option for a planned (or unexpected) layover in Abu Dhabi. Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast buffet in the morning was a delight and very rich. Service is excellent and I had possibly the best chicken noodle soup of my life brought up by room service -- much needed after delays and unplanned layovers!
Unfortunately this hotel is not what it used to be any more. Starting with the good things, pool area is nice, sun beds and towels are provided, no water though. But ok, it's not a 5* hotel. Breakfast provides an indoor and outdoor seating and an extensive breakfast buffet with a wide range of food items. Very busy and crowed though, which leads to stressed staff, who is not able to serve coffee. We ended up helping ourselves. There was Management wandering around, but they didn't seem to be too impressed about the chaotic scenery. Anyway, food quality was fine. To the not so good things... the rooms. I am totally aware that the Crowne Plaza is not a 5* resort. But, there should be some basics a guest should be allowed to expect. And this is a clean, well maintained room which is neither dusty, damp nor moldy. We were shown different rooms and they all had the same issues. Being a huge fan of IHG for years and having travelled to different IHG hotels all over the world we ended up leaving the Crowne Plaza after one night and moved to a different hotel. We left a business card at check out, in case somebody would wanted to contact us, but never got a reply. Unfortunately I will not be back.
The location of this hotel is great if you need to visit both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. There are lots of attractions on yas island for young and old. Rooms are spacious with good amenities and I appreciate the cookies and small liquid milk supplies for early morning coffee. Sunset photo is from sea view balcony room.
After a rough start, with the hotel mixing up our rooms. The holiday has proceeded well. Staff are helpful and pleasant to interact with. Big Up to Binod at concierge that organised amazing tours for us.
