Stayed here for 3 FANTASTIC night's. The hogmanny ball was absolutely brilliant evening. With fantastic company around the table. The food was outstanding and the live music was absolutely tops. Great night had by all who attended. Our 2nd evening walked a few bars around town. 3rd night we ate at Molly's bistro and we will definitely be back to eat here again. Then finished our evening in Malone's Bar with a free night for anyone who could sing and play. Wow what a totally great end to our stay here. The most attentive staff to everyone who stays here. We had a view over the harbour from our room. I will definitely be returning here again. Thank you too all the staff at the Douglas Hotel, Molly's Bistro and Malone's Bar for making my new year memorable.
Excellent hotel. Very clean and well presented reception. Staff on the desk were extremely helpful with suggestions for places to eat. Room was clean and comfortable. Tea/coffee making facilities in room and toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast was hot and tasty and a great choice. Hotel was well placed for the shops, bars and restaurants
Checked in by very friendly and patient staff, the hotel is dated, but this does not detract from its pleasant surroundings. My room was quite and more importantly very clean. The food in the restaurant was simple and of a good quality. The breakfast was just as good. As was my checkout. This is very friendly hotel run by high quality staff. Well worth a visit
Lovely spacious family room for the two of us. Food was delicious and service was great. Got into our room early with a late check out. It was a Christmas meal we had in the evening and I could not fault it. Breakfastjust perfect. I would stay here again if you want somewhere central.
We stayed 4 nights at The Aberdeen Douglas and we delighted with our room and overall appearance of the whole hotel. We booked a twin room and had a large room with a king size and single bed. Also large bathroom with separate shower and bath. Small seating area with 2 chairs and table. Very clean and tidy. Windows are old fashioned sash windows and one wasn't closed properly. We found the room very warm as the weather was very mild for the time of year. On our last night he weather turned and our room was freezing with window open. Couldn't shut it as the mechanism was broken. Phoned reception and duty manager came up and managed to shut window and left us an electric heater to warm up room quickly. On the down side on day 3 of our stay our room was not serviced at all, we came back in evening and found no toilet roll either! Phoned reception but it took 45 minutes plus a reminder to bring some to the room! The staff were very friendly and polite. Only 1 very small lift also used by staff and could take a while to come as we were on floor 4. Staff always vacated lift if guests needed to use it. Overall an pleasant stay, would of award 5 if standards hadn't slipped during the week!
Old style hotel in Market streeet. Walking distance to Aberdeens shopping and dining. Classic and clean. Nice bed and nice room. The old character did forgive the old door thet did let some light inside from the corridor. Slept good , Nice brekfast and friendly staff. Worth the while.
Christmas Night Out £50pp Tables were set out beautifully.wine was inc in the price only red/white.wine was awful so we purchased a bottle which was equally as awful.I had the terrine to start which was nice however when I found a huge hair in it.I complained only to be told they’ve no idea where the hair came from nobody blonde in the kitchen and all food is bought in pre prepared!she offered me a drink on the house which I didn’t think was suitable so I spoke to the manger and requested a bottle of wine on the house he agreed. The food was average, the customer service was terrible. The music afterwards was cheese.I would strongly advise not to book the Douglas for a Christmas Night out!!!!
My husband and I stayed here earlier in the year whilst visiting our student son. At that time we were pleasantly surprised to be allocated an apartment when we had only booked a standard room. I reviewed the accommodation and said that we'd be happy to return which we did last week. This time we had a double room in the main part of the hotel and I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed with the reduced standards! The furnishings are all of a very old fashioned style and the bed had an enormous wooden frame which took up half of the room and presented a toe-stubbing hazard every time we approached it! We immediately noticed that the bed was extremely creaky and noisy and this prevented us both from getting a good night's sleep. Neither of us could get comfortable and as we both wriggled around, the creaking noises became infuriating. Added to this the floorboards and plumbing in the surrounding rooms were also very noisy and intrusive and I had the worst night's 'rest' I've had for months. We had no view from the room - just two frosted glass windows which overlooked the rear of the hotel. To be fair, the breakfast was good, providing lots of choice and hot, tasty food. It's a self-service set-up so you can have as much as you like and the waiters and waitresses are happy to bring you coffee and tea refills or to take orders for some cooked-to-order items. There is a lively bar downstairs off the reception area and the hotel is within easy walking distance of the city centre so there are many positives to consider.
I visited the Aberdeen Douglas hotel at the end of November for a single night. The rooms are small and the temperature is not controllable from the room- ie it’s a radiator but at least it is quiet. Service is with a smile - can’t fault it. There’s no gym or pool here if these are important to you. Breakfast is from 8am.
My friend and I had an overnight stay at this hotel and it was very nice. The check in was fantastic and the girl was very helpful with answering questions that we had about places and a venu we were going to. The room was beautiful and clean and also very large. It had 1 double bed and 1 single bed, a large built in wardrobe which also housed the Iron and Iron board. It had a flat tv on the wall which had the normal digital channels. There was also a hairdryer which was great as it saved having to carry one in our luggage. We had an evening meal in their restaurant called Mollies Bistro, I am gluten free and it had quite a few choices that I could choose from. Prices were a tiny bit high but it was a gorgeous meal. Sleeping was comfy as the beds are lovely. The shower wasn't to bad and it also had a bath so you had the choice. Breakfast was the only downfall for me being gluten free. My friend had a wonderful full scottish buffet breakfast and continential. I informed that I was gluten free and the girl arrived with 2 slices of toast for me, I wasn't very keen on the bread but ate it as I was hungry, I then had to ask if they had anything else, she then brought out 2 gluten free sausages but in my opinion were horrible. I had some melon and dried fruit instead. Breakfast was served until 11am and check out was at 12pm which I think is really good. Would I stay again? Yes I would.
