If I could've reviewed with "good", instead of average, I would have. Friendly staff and great location, minutes from the train station and central pubs / restaurants. We were here for Brewdog AGM weekend so hotel offered good value and a generous breakfast. Room pretty standard, clean but tired, and despite turning the radiator off it was absolutely boiling which didn't lead to the best nights sleep - hence the average.
Staff very welcoming and nothing too much trouble very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast buffet style good selection hot and cold. Room very comfortable with good amenities and WiFi free. Room serviced daily very good friendly staff Mollys bistro good selection of food with daily specials and reasonably priced and good service
We would not visit friends in Aberdeen and stay anywhere other than the Douglas - we have been staying here for a number of years. Great welcome, staff all very helpful, room perfect with all facilities required, bed very comfortable, food excellent - what else can we say - absolutely perfect !
The hotel is very clean and has some great staff, the bed and pillows are a bit on the hard side and can make it difficult to get a really good nights sleep. The room had everything you would expect... TV, tea and coffee facilities iron+ironing board. The room was cleaned on a daily basis and always clean. Shower was a bit disappointing either skin burning hot or freezing cold so opted for a bath most nights. It’s very close to the rail station and union square shopping centre and union street which is the Main Street in the city. If you fancy a walk the beach area is about 15-20 mins walk away and boasts a shopping centre, theme park and plenty of places to feast. All in all this was a great stay and I would definitely stay again.
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff lifts this hotel above others I have used. However as a traditional 3* it was expensive. Rooms were clean and functional but mould and plastic bath curtains are really out. Iron in the room but it did not work. Hotel public areas and corridors need a refurb. Breakfast buffet excellent with attentive staff. Would recommend as an average 3* only.
I recently hosted a university ball for 200 in the hotels function room. The whole process was made easy and clear by the help of Steph. The food that was provided through a buffet was great and there was plenty of it to go around everyone! The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout the whole night. I would especially like to thank Alex that was extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to book an event.
Stayed over recently for work and they booked me in here. The location is great but the hotel itself could do with some updating. The shower was poor and the bed was a bit on the hard side. Breakfast was good
great hotel and nice welcoming staff meals as any hotel not the cheapest but decent enough, apartments maybe need tlc stains on pillows bathroom electrics bit exposed and the rug in the lounge yuk but all in all pleasant enough stay
Great central location, great breakfast and clean modern hotel. Staff where helpful and Mollys bistro next door for food was excellent. Highly recommend for couples wanting to be central and have a lovely day/weekend away.
I have been staying at the Douglas Hotel for many years now with work and its always been an enjoyable experience. This current stay has been since June 2017 and its has been my best stay yet. I have been staying in the Trinity Quay Apartments but recently moved up to the Royal Athenaeum Apartments on Union Street and both Apartments are extremely well furnished and daily servicing by the friendly Cleaning staff means the apartment is always clean. All the staff from the owners who are very friendly through to Gavin, Angela, Katherine, Danielle and ALL the team really cannot do enough for you. I highly recommend staying at the Douglas if you are coming to Aberdeen as this will enhance your experience of the city with its central location and closeness to the Train Station, shops, restaurants and bars. I look forward to many more stays with all my friends (staff) at the Douglas Hotel. Keep up the excellent work.
