Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbour Marina3.5 out of 5.0

The plus side is the fact that the staff is extremely nice. The major downside is no WiFi on the docks. It's 2017, we travel through the Bahamas every summer and this is the only marina we have been to that has no WiFi for marina guests. When you advertise WiFi, please be honest and state that it is only in public areas. In today's world,Impossible to stay here again unless this situation changes.
I recently stayed at Abaco Beach Resort and I must say the overall experience was excellent. The property and views were beautiful, the beach was peaceful, clean and the nicest beach in Marsh Harbor. (not many hotels have a private beach) The marina was large, in great shape and well provisioned for anything you need. It was great, half of us stayed on the boat and half stayed in the hotel it worked out well. The staff at the hotel, bar, marina and restaurant went above and beyond what you would expect for some places in the Bahamas. The food was great in the ocean front dining room with a wide variety of choices. The rooms were extremely comfortable (good AC) and welcoming, and they offered beautiful views all around. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, they made it their personal mission to ensure our stay was ideal. If I could have stayed longer, I would have. I recommend Abaco Beach Resort, I have stayed in a lot of places in Abaco this was one of the best for many reasons.
My wife and I needed a quick getaway and thought this was a great place to go and only an hour flight from Palm Beach. The flight on Silver Air was on time and uneventful. The hotel was 15 minutes from the airport. We checked in, but the power was off so they had to manually open it. Since we were in the islands and it was close to lunch, we went to the pool. Unbeknown to us, it was election day in the Bahamas and all bars were closed to 6pm. Lunch at the pool was good. Our wifi in the room almost never worked and we had to go to reception for e-mails for work.We had breakfast at the hotel twice and both were fair at best. We also had two dinners. The food was expensive and not worth it. Our meals in town were excellent, especially Wally's. The hotel room was dated. The beach was not as nice as anything we saw at Treasure Cay which looks like the Maldives. A must go is Green Turtle Cay. We had a fabulous lunch at Harvey's and chartered a boat from a local that has been their six generations. He took us to swim with and feed the pigs. We also went to another location top feed turtles, sharks and sting rays. Next trip back we are staying at Green Turtle Cay. Unfortunately, our flight home was cancelled. We managed to get the last 2 seats on a flight to Fort Lauderdale. After spending $100 to Uber home, the airline gave us a $100 coupon on a future flight. This is not my first bad experience with Silver so, have a plan B. The people in Abaci and Green Turtle Cay are fabulous.
The only reason for 3 stars is because there is NO wireless to the docks. They advertise "state of the art resort & marina", but the wireless is only available at the pool bar or reception office. We did not eat there, many other options close by. Nice pool, beautiful resort, however.
You would think for the price this hotel/resort would figure out a way to combat the mosquitos. We were eaten alive. The rooms were nice but damp. Musty. The beds were comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent. We had a dinner and the buffet breakfast. Our bellies were happy. The price is steep but it's an island. The staff and waiters were great.
We stayed in the Marina for three days. The internet was slow and not working 80% of our stay. Many guests complained about it at the front desk. Staff did not seem to care. No pool towels available during our stay. Grounds were dirty with trash. Staff was not friendly. Bathrooms were dark and poorly lit. Wallys was a great place for dinner.
We decided to visit this very nice resort for a friend's getaway. Rooms were standard. Air worked some days. Beds were ok. The staff was exceptionally pleasant. Prices are high, so be prepared. Look over your bill in the dining area as we were overcharged a breakfast. All in all a very nice resort with dining, bar and harbor.
Overall, this is a good resort. I was part of a large fishing group and we had a great experience....although remember, everyone moves a little bit slower in the Bahamas. That said, nice beach, although each time I took a jump in the ocean I was pretty much the only one there. I spent a lot of time at the pool bar which was a great central spot and the pool has a swim up bar. What most impressed me was they cooked out daily catch and did a great job with it. The nightly buffet was good too. Rooms were a short walk away, no big deal and each room had an ocean view. good location, a few shops just a short walk away. A short taxi ride to all the Abaco sites. helpful friendly staff and overall a good resort. One warning...no wifi, if you need or want to be connected, you won't be here. no wifi.
We arrived at 8PM on a Sunday night starving. We were hoping to find the restaurant open, and it was. This was at the end of a big fishing tournament, and the crews were flooding the bar. We chose to to eat outside near the pool. Our server Wewe, was prompt greeting us with menus, and without hesitation took our drink orders with a huge smile. There were 8 in our party. Very quickly she returned with the drinks and took our food orders. Again, very quickly she returned with half a dozen different appetizers. Soon after finishing the appetizers, our meals started showing up. Everything ordered came out to everyones satisfaction. The staff should be recognized for their outstanding team work. The grounds of this resort are maintained to perfection. The marina is filled with some of the most impressive fishing yachts and cruisers found anywhere. There is a nice beach on the grounds perfect for relaxing. The entire staff was exceptional at whatever task they were doing. This is an exceptionally well maintained and managed resort. It has a wonderful ambience suitable for what ever your purpose is, that brings you here. The rooms are like new, very clean, bright and welcoming. The beds are very comfortable. The room comes with TV, free wifi, fridge, and coffee maker. They could do better by offering more than one serving of coffee per day. At $300 per night, plus $71 in taxes, you should sleep well here…and you will
4 day dive trip with a buddy. The physical plant is a bit old and antiquated. The rooms are simple holiday inn standard with a nice walk to the pool and restaurant. Beds comfortable. Showers - meh. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. Everyone with a smile and wanting to make your stay as nice as possible. Extra star for the staff. Had a great time. Did not expect or need the Ritz Carlton.
