Nice location but definitely in need of updates. Bathtub drain had issues where it drained onto the floor. Got towels and clothes soaked. Was only staying a night, so having the hotel staff tell me it would be fixed the next day did not make things better.
Staff were perfectly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. I thought the room decor and bathroom was a little tired and dated. Still, we slept well and found location was great. A whole street of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants along the canal leads right into the main shopping areas.
We traveled from the U.S. and stayed in Aarhus for three nights...our first trip to Denmark and loved it! Everyone at the front desk was awesome...from helping us change a car reservation, to helping us order pizza, to giving up their own dinner when my cousin arrived at 10:30 from her flight and hadn’t eaten! The room was what we needed...the kids had a separate room with the pullout couch to sleep on. The location is good for shopping. The best part if you have kids is that the Library DOKK1 is right across the street. The library itself is awesome with English and Danish books, the children’s area is really cool with Magnatiles and other toys and there is a teen section with a foosball and air hockey table and old video games. My 10 year old and I walked over every morning and evening because outside there is a different play structure on every side. I think this review became more about the Library...but it made the hotel with its great breakfasts and excellent service just that much better!
Despite the good location and the clean rooms we can definitely not recommend to stay here as the bar on the upper floor played very loud music until 1am when we were there. We were staying four floors below the bar and we could still tell which song they were playing! When asking the reception for another room we just received the answer that a room on a lower floor would not make it better as another bar/club on ground level would open at midnight and play music until 5am. Maybe comfy beds would have put us right asleep but as they were too soft / worn out that did unfortunately not happen. I like clubs and bars - but not in my hotel room. It is a pity that I did not read the respective other comments before. We moved to another hotel for our second night in Aarhus.
We visited Aarhus for a couple of nights in April. The Hotel is about a ten minute walk from where the airport shuttle bus drops you off for those who need to know this. It's at a great location this hotel, close to the latin quarter and many bars. The rooms are clean and with good views overlooking the docks. Breakfast was also plentiful but a couple of issues which need to be addressed; 1) It would be nice to have someone greeting you on arrival at Breakfast. You come out of the lift and a 'Hello, Good morning, did you sleep well?' would go a long way. It just didn't seem like anyone was in charge of the breakfast. 2) The walls need painting. Lots of stains on the walls from various liquids. It just lets the hotel down really and I hope they sort it out. Don't let the above comment let you down though. If you are looking for somewhere to stay with a central location whether you're a couple, away with friends or a family with small children, this hotel would suit your needs perfectly. Really nice hotel, close to the pedestrian streets and with public transport right outside the door. Spacious room. Good and extensive breakfast buffet. Very cheap parking. Extra plus with coffee and tea in the lobby all day.
First Hotel Atlantic is a great choice for a city visit in Aarhus. Centrally located, close to the main harbor and all sorts of restaurants and cafes. The room was decorated nicely while offered a wide range of services incl. a coffee maker, extra pillows and blankets, iron and board, hair dryer and reliable WiFi. The bed was comfortable even if the mattress was softer than expected. The bathroom had a bathtub and a shower head - nothing more nothing less. The room had a harbor view as well that didn’t disappoint. The breakfast offered plenty of choices incl. gluten free, lactose free and vegan dishes. All and all is was a pleasant stay
Such a nice hotel with a great team. The location is fantastic and easy to get to transportation. Natasja and Norbert @ Front Desk were always helpful and the room was spacious with a great view! I didn't use it but I believe there is fairly easy access to parking too. There is also a really good italian restaurant located on property so didn't have to go too far to get a good meal either :-) Also the breakfast room had the most amazing views of the city
I have been a guest twice in this hotel and I will definitely return. Great location (basically everything within walking distance), spacious and clean rooms, great breakfast and very friendly reception staff. Convenient parking.
Stayed there for three nights. First night I didn’t get a parking spot as I didn’t know that I had to reserve it. The hotel has a breakfast restaurant but nothing for lunch and dinner. However there are plenty of restaurants in the area so not a big problem. I missed a place to workout while staying at the hotel and the desk in the room is very small. The staffs are helpful. Will I come again? Yes after all it is one of the better hotels in Aarhus
