Caribbean vacations aren’t just for couples in love or those seeking to rekindle the spark of romance — the Caribbean is also a great place to take your family. Needless to say, you’re going to want to pick your destination carefully if you’re bringing along the spouse and kids, because not all Caribbean hotels were made equal and some offer a broader variety of fun family activities than others. Here are a few tips on what to look for to help you narrow down your search of the best family Caribbean vacations.

Avoid spring break destinations
If you’re taking the family on a vacation, the last thing you want to do is to have to compete for resort space with hordes of rowdy college kids burning off steam during spring break. You might think that the most obvious solution to this would be to not travel around Easter, but why punish yourself and your family? When booking your vacation, try to avoid some of these top Caribbean spring break hot spots:

Look for family packages
Caribbean hotels don’t like to hide the fact that they’re family friendly. If you’re looking at a particular resort and you don’t see evidence of any family vacation packages, look elsewhere. Narrow down your search by looking for family oriented vacation spots that cater to kids through special activities and educational programs. The odds are the more youth-oriented activities there are, the fewer spring break partiers will come.
