I was bringing my brother up to stay near where we live. AFTER I booked the room, I learned that it’s actually NOT a private room, but a twin bed in a male dorm room that has 6 beds in it. Orbitz, you owe me a refund of $39!!! Would you stay in a dorm room with Zero privacy???????? Not a chance!

Nice Green place to stop while Touring Monterey. Very clean hostel and organised kitchen spaces. Lovely views of the Ocean . Not far from half moon Bay.

Probably the coolest, most beautiful place I've ever stayed while traveling. There's a welcoming vibe and the staff is very friendly. I appreciated the sign at the check-in desk showing support for women, black lives, immigrants, and the LGBT community. I also can't overstate how gorgeous the setting is. It's stunning!

I had to go to San Francisco for business and this popped up on the web. The views of the ocean reminded me of my oceanfront condo in Florida. My friend told me I was crazy, a hostile? I said yes it will most likely be all collage age kids. I'm 56. I said I'm going to go be a hippyl, lol. To my surprise it was a wonderful group of people of all ages. Many as old or order than me. The grounds and views were beautiful and the staff especially Brit at the front desk was 1st class. The only recommendation I would make is I was not aware they had private rooms adjacent for a bit more money that I would have rented instead of the dorm bed. Met many interesting people although I am a bit of a loner. Great location and value. If you don't have a car explain to drivers exactly how to get there. It can be confusing.

Spectacular environment. Well maintained history facility. Nice staff and interesting co-residents. I hope to return

Fun and great staff, wonderful view, curfew kinda bogus but safe.

Thank you for taking the time to review HI Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel. We are happy you liked our two fully equipped kitchens and our beautiful cliff side views surrounded by the ocean! We are 8 miles north of Half Moon Bay, and only 20 miles south of San Francisco. We have plenty of great hikes and things to do nearby as well. Please come back and visit anytime!
