Overview

  • The Tikveš wine region is about 90 minutes south of Skopje. This full day trip takes in a guided tasting at Chateau Sopot near Veles, entry to the Roman ruins of Stobi at the crossing of the Vardar, and a long Macedonian lunch with the estate's own wines at Royal Winery Queen Maria in Demir Kapija, a winery founded in 1928 and named after Queen Marija. Tikveš is the biggest wine region in North Macedonia, and the tasting, the entry and the lunch are all in the price, so nothing poured on the day carries a charge. Departures run every Wednesday at 09:30 from the meeting point across the old “Bristol” hotel and return to the same point in the early evening. Group size starts from two people.
