Then, take an Andean astronomical journey and discover how the ancient inhabitants of the Andes interpreted the universe, the Milky Way and the night sky. Centuries before the arrival of the Spanish, Andean communities were already carefully observing the sky and using this knowledge as part of their everyday lives.
Unlike Western constellations, which connect bright stars to create figures, Andean cultures also recognized dark constellations in the Milky Way — figures formed by the dark spaces between the stars. These celestial figures were connected to animals, water, seasons, agriculture and the cycles of life.
Throughout the experience, learn how to observe through a telescope and discover planets, stars, binary stars, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies, depending on the season and the objects visible that night.
At the end of the tour, take home a complimentary photo under the Atacama stars as a souvenir of your experience.
