Discover Rennes in a different way
A passionate resident of Rennes
I'm Patricia Costa, and I've lived in Rennes for over 10 years. Passionate about this city and its history, it will be a real pleasure to help you discover its monuments, but also its little corners and secrets that make it so endearing.
I invite you to explore the historic center of Rennes on an immersive 90-minute guided tour, perfect for discovering the must-sees of the Breton capital and gaining a better understanding of its history.
I will show you the evolution of the city, from its medieval origins to its reconstruction after the Great Fire of 1720. You will discover a city with many faces, combining half-timbered houses, classical architecture and iconic landmarks. I will also explain how Rennes has developed today, as well as its rich culture.
A tour through the heart of the city
The tour starts at Place de la République, the central point between the old and new town. You will then head to the Parliament of Brittany, a symbol of the region's judicial power and history.
You will then continue to City Hall Square and the Opera House, rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1720, before heading to Place des Lices, a hub of Rennes life and famous for its market.
The tour continues along Rue Saint-Michel, known for its lively atmosphere and half-timbered houses, and then on to Saint-Pierre Cathedral, one of the city's main religious buildings.
The tour then continues to the more modern part of Rennes, ending at the Champs Libres Cultural Center, an iconic venue dedicated to culture and science.
An immersion into Breton culture
Beyond history and architecture, this tour will introduce you to Breton culture through its traditions and cuisine. You will hear about local specialties such as crêpes, cider, and galette-saucisse (a buckwheat pancake filled with sausage).
An accessible and international tour
This tour is designed to be accessible, engaging and interactive. It is ideal for international visitors who want to understand the city, the Brittany region, and the organization of France.
Available in French, English, and Portuguese, it is suitable for all audiences.
