Some notable sites and memorials include: Memorial Service Hall, Memorabilia Hall, two Turkish Monuments, Greek Monument, Australian Monument, British Common Wealth Monument and two ponds. The Memorial Service Hall and the Memorabilia Hall were constructed in 1964 and 1968 respectively. The citizens of Busan dedicated the Main Gate in 1966. The pavement is decorated with handprints of famous film stars, and the street is full of snack stalls. It’s a fun place to enjoy local street food, such as sweet seed-filled pancakes called “hotteok.” Gukje Market is one of Busan’s oldest and liveliest traditional markets. It began after the Korean War and grew into a maze of shops selling clothes, kitchenware, souvenirs, and street snacks. It’s a great place to feel everyday local life and try Busan’s famous treats.
