What you can expect

  • Your adventure to Iztaccíhuatl takes place over two exciting days. The first day begins with a leisurely hike from the base point to the mountain hut, a route surrounded by pine and fir forests, where you'll feel the change in the air as you head into the high mountains. Upon reaching the shelter, you'll have time to rest, acclimatize, and enjoy a light dinner while the sunset paints the horizon with spectacular hues.

The real adventure begins early on the second day. At 3:00 a.m., under a starry sky, you'll set off equipped with flashlights and technical gear. The ascent in the dark is a magical experience, with the chill of the early morning and the anticipation of reaching the summit. As you go, you'll see the sunrise illuminate Popocatépetl and the surrounding landscapes.

Every step toward “El Pecho,” the summit of Iztaccíhuatl, is a challenge that you'll overcome with the support of expert guides. On reaching the summit, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views and a unique sense of accomplishment. After savoring the moment, we'll begin the descent with breaks to hydrate and rest, wrapping up this unforgettable experience with a drop-off at the base point, full of memories and pride for having conquered the “Sleeping Woman.”

It is important to have the right gear and clothing. Before we start, we will make sure you have everything you need. The gear you need for this trek is:

    • Appropriate clothing in a layering system (thermal, mid-layer, and waterproof layer)
    • Thermal and waterproof pants
    • Gloves, hat, and thermal and waterproof socks
    • Cold- and water-resistant hiking boots
    • Helmet
    • Trekking poles
    • 30–50-liter rucksack
    • Headlamp flashlight with spare batteries
    • Sunglasses with UV protection
    • Sunscreen
    • Sleeping bag for sub-zero temperatures
    • Insulating mat and sleeping bag for the overnight stay at the mountain hut
    • Snacks and high-energy foods (energy bars, nuts, gels)
    • Water bottles or hydration system (minimum 2–3 liters)
    • Crampons and ice axe
    • Gaiters (optional)
    • Emergency thermal blanket

This adventure is much more than a climb; it's a transformative experience that will connect you with the grandeur of nature and your own inner strength.
