Next Stop, Pagoda of Nirvana Vung Tau boasts the most Buddha statues in Vietnam, but the Pagoda of Nirvana, (also well-known as Pagoda of the Reclining Buddha), is certainly one of the most impressive. At 12-metres high with a 21-metre flag tower, this statue is well worth the visit! Once we’ve taken all the photos we can, we’ll continue to a tranquil and picturesque park at Front Beach where we can enjoy the nature, sea breeze, and interesting sculptures dotted around the park. This is where families spend lazy days, so you can get an insight into the way of life of the locals.

Enjoy Panoramic Views at White Palace With our appetites worked up it is time to enjoy a local lunch at a famous, seafood restaurant on the seafront. You can’t get fresher seafood than this! Perched 50 metres up ‘Big Mountain’, White Palace is a beautiful colonial-era mansion once built for French Governor-General Paul Doumer. As well as boasting the best panoramic views of the ocean, White Palace displays carefully-preserved antiques from the colonial era. A visit here is like stepping into a centuries-old time-capsule!

Last Stop, Whale Temple The last leg of our trip involves making our way to the top of a hill on which a lighthouse perches. Built by the French, this lighthouse offers 360-degree vistas of the ocean and surrounding city. Definitely do not forget your cameras for this stop! Then, we’ll make our way to Whale Temple, a popular stop with tourists and locals alike! This ornate temple is dedicated to the whale and is the site where fishermen traditionally pray for their safety. This stop offers a fascinating insight into the belief systems of the locals here.
