What you can expect

  • Cedar Creek has been carved by water over millions of years into the rainforest behind Airlie Beach. After a short journey from Airlie Beach what you find when you arrive is not the same on every tour.

Before you walk into the falls, the team has been there ahead of you - chairs and a table are set up, pool noodles and water shoes are ready. Homemade banana bread, made fresh before the bus leaves Airlie Beach, is served with morning or afternoon tea: biscuits, fresh fruit, cake, tea and coffee at the water.

Your guide shares the Aboriginal cultural history of Cedar Creek and the surrounding country. This is the story behind the landscape and it is part of every departure.

Once you are at the falls, the time is yours. The rock pools are cool and clear. The walk to the top threads up through the canopy. Wildlife moves through the bush around you. Your guide is beside you throughout, knowing what is there and where to look.

This tour operates in all weather conditions. During the dry season (typically August to October), the waterfall may be flowing at a reduced rate or may stop flowing altogether. However, the beautiful freshwater swimming hole remains open year-round, so you can still enjoy a refreshing swim surrounded by the stunning rainforest.

Airlie Adventure Tours holds the 2026 Best of Queensland Experiences Gold Award and dual eco-certifications from Ecotourism Australia. Your guide is an accredited EcoGuide, rated 4.9 out of 5 by more than 150 guests on GetYourGuide.
