What you can expect

  • Just a few kilometers from Porto-Novo, the town of Adjarra is a must-visit ecotourism destination in the region. The Rivière Noire (Black River) presents itself to visitors through lush, untamed nature, far off the beaten track. A trip along the river that will leave a lasting impression on lovers of flora and fauna, as the diversity of the ecosystem is truly impressive.

In the neighboring villages, it is the transformation of palm wine into sodabi, the local spirit, that will pique your curiosity. Or the work of artisans who, using sections of tree trunks, make tam-tams that are renowned throughout Benin. Not to mention the food tasting of grilled pork, another specialty of Adjarra.
