What you can expect
Begin your adventure with a warm welcome at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Spend your first day in Moshi, relaxing and preparing for the climb. Meet your guide for a detailed pre-climb briefing, review your gear, and discuss the route, safety tips, and climb strategy.
The next day, drive to Londorossi Gate to complete park registration. Begin your trek through the lush rainforest, home to colobus monkeys, tropical birds, and giant ferns. Reach Mti Mkubwa Camp by afternoon. Relax, enjoy a warm meal, and share stories around the campfire.
Climb steadily out of the forest into the heath and moorland zones, where the landscape opens up to the vast Shira Plateau. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro’s northern glaciers. Spend the evening soaking in the peaceful plateau scenery.
Trek across high alpine terrain to Lava Tower for acclimatization. Enjoy dramatic volcanic scenery and take photos of the magnificent rock formations. After acclimatizing at Lava Tower, descend to Barranco Camp in the afternoon. This camp is nestled below the famous Barranco Wall, giving climbers a dramatic view of the surrounding peaks.
Climb the iconic Barranco Wall, a challenging but exciting rock scramble offering incredible panoramic views. After descending the wall, trek to Karanga Valley Camp. Enjoy a peaceful evening, breathe the crisp mountain air, and relax before your next acclimatization day.
Trek steadily to Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt. Along the way, enjoy alpine desert landscapes, views of the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks, and the chance to spot wildlife such as birds and giant heathers. Arrive at Barafu Camp in the afternoon. Take this time to rest, have an early dinner, and mentally prepare for the midnight summit climb.
Start your summit push at midnight, under the starry African sky. Trek slowly and steadily past Hans Meyer Cave to reach Stella Point on the crater rim. Continue to Uhuru Peak — the highest point in Africa! Celebrate the first sunrise of the year from the Roof of Africa, an unforgettable moment that will stay with you forever. After photos and celebrations, descend to Mweka Camp for rest, warm meals, and reflection on your achievement.
After breakfast, descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. Collect your Kilimanjaro summit certificate and celebrate your success with your guides and team.
